I am grateful to the secretary and committee for honouring me with the privilege of judging my own breed, my first set of challenge certificates, and it is a privilege to be so entrusted. I was delighted to see my BoB being awarded BiS and my BP, RBPiS. Congratulations to both of those dogs and their owners!

Many thanks to Sue Rollinson for being my able steward.

Some judges have recently reported bad mouths and teeth, but I was happy to say that none came across my path. The most common fault was feet: quite a number were down on their pasterns. I am not sure if this reflects poor construction or just a lack of decent road exercise to build up the correct muscles. Parallel movement was not always to be seen either. Teeth and ears were clean, temperaments were very good throughout, and the sportsmanship of exhibitors was exemplary.

Special Beginners Dog or Bitch: (2 entries, 1 absentee) 1. Ellis’ Vivendax Venus Starlight, 20 month old Wild Boar (WB) bitch, feminine head, correct eye and teeth, correct size and clearance, good front & shoulders, level topline, decent length of ribbing, fair length of neck, moved well

Minor Puppy Dog: Excellent class (4,1) 1. Howlett & Phillips’ Tendrow Malibar, there is a football saying that if a player is good enough, he is old enough. This lad is a delightful 8 month old WB of correct size (though no doubt he will grow a little), he ticked all the boxes, superb harsh coat, pleasing outline, masculine head, correct teeth and eye, good tight shoulders, level topline and good ribbing, tight feet, moved with drive and parallel action fore and aft, CC and BP (and  RBPiS) 2. Pugh’s Stanegate Stefan At Bystock, 8 month old WB, good head and eye, good coat, excellent prosternum, good shoulders, tight feet, correct length of ribbing, moved well but not with the confidence of class winner 3. Mountford’s Teckelgarth Love Bug (a close decision between 2 and 3)

Puppy Dog: (2,0) 1. Howlett & Phillips’ Tendrow Malibar, as above 2. Matthews’ Sonham Fire Cracker, 10 month old WB, well presented, excellent profile on the stack, balanced and proportioned, masculine head, good prosternum, level topline, hammy rump, correct shoulder placement, a little down on pasterns, decent length of neck, moved well though not as parallel as class winner

Junior Dog: (0,0)

Post Graduate Dog: (1,0) 1. Wharton’s Elmore James Greyhayne, 21 month old WB, good coat, masculine head, good length of neck, good tight feet, could do with a little more front, somewhat upright in shoulder, level topline but ribbing might be better, moved well but not too parallel

Limit Dog: (6,0) 1. Davies’ Atahira Ruffian, 3 years old WB, larger type, decent coat if a little profuse on the head, strong masculine head, correct oval eyes, good front and shoulders, tight feet, level topline, good length of ribbing, he doesn’t always move with great enthusiasm but was better today, good parallel movement, just beat his father and one other for RCC 2. Mountford’s Incordemeo Beetle About, 3 year old B&T, excellent coat and well presented, would prefer slightly more clearance, lovely masculine head and expression, good front, level topline and good ribbing, moved out well 3. Wills’ Kasalane Ostiriato Sea

Open Dog: (2,0) 1. Ord’s Cloudside Sebastian of Marmadee JW, well presented 3 year old WB, larger type, good coat, excellent masculine head and expression, good length of neck, level topline, just enough clearance, a bit down on pasterns, fairly parallel movement and decent rear drive extension but would like a little more enthusiasm on the move 2. Moore’s Upor Von Huberhor with Diefiur (Imp Rom), almost two years old, excellent harsh coat, well proportioned, good clearance, masculine head, good tight feet, shoulder placement, would have liked more rear drive

Veteran Dog or Bitch: (3,0) 1. Moore’s Ch Megline Aramis, 8 year old WB dog, larger type, harsh coat, strong masculine head and front, decent neck, good tight shoulders, good clearance, tight feet, level top line, moved well with purpose, contender for RCC 2. Rowe’s Boloria Trick or Treat JW, 7 year old WB bitch, very feminine head, enjoying her day out, good coat and well groomed, pleasing front, good neck, correct shoulder placement, a bit down on pasterns, level topline, moved well 3. Wills’ Cicelane Magnus At Kasalane

Minor Puppy Bitch: (4,2) 1. Phillips’ Tendrow Carolina Reaper, 8 month old red with challenging coat, sweet face, good front and shoulders, bit down on pasterns, level topline, moved well and fairly parallel, rather raw but should mature on 2. Wharton’s Crowning Glory, 7 month old WB with a decent coat, reasonable front and neck, rather down on pasterns, good clearance, tight shoulders, movement, especially at rear, not as good as class winner

Puppy Bitch: (1,0) 1. Pugh’s Blue Orchid, elegant 11 month WB with lovely outline, good coat, feminine head, excellent length of neck, good tight shoulders, level topline, feet need to be tighter but should improve with exercise, moved out well, BPB and RCC, unlucky to meet dog CC winner in puppy challenge

Junior Bitch: (2,1) 1. Matthews’ Sonham Twice As Nice JW, 12 month old WB, decent coat, feminine head and expression, would benefit from more prosternum, level topline, correct shoulders, sufficient clearance, somewhat down on pasterns, rather close in movement front and back

Post Graduate Bitch: (6,3) 1. Ellis’ Vivendax Venus Starlight, as per SBD or B 2. Mountford’s Incordemeo My Story, 3 year old B&T, good coat and well presented, feminine head, nice oval eye, good front and neck, correct tight shoulders, tight feet, level topline, would have liked a shade more ribbing and clearance, preferred rear construction and movement of class winner 3. Rowe’s Boloria Sugar’n Spice

Limit Bitch: (4, 0) 1. Bubb’s Wyeknot Dare To Dream, 4 year old WB, harsh coat, sweet feminine head, good length of neck, reasonable front, a tad short in upper arm, level top line and good clearance, a bit down in pasterns, moved out well 2. Wills’ Kasalane Symphony, celebrating her 3rd birthday, compact size, harsh WB coat, feminine head, decent neck, a little short in upper arm, good ribbing and clearance, preferred more fluent movement of class winner 3. Matthews’ Wyeknot Come Fly With Me Over Sonham

Open Bitch: (2,0) 1. Howlett & Phillips’ Ch Tendrow Makes The Right Turn JW 2 year old WB, good coat, well presented, very feminine head, excellent front construction, good length of neck, correct tight shoulders, level topline, enough clearance, pleasing rear construction but not exaggerated, drove out really well. When I judged this girl at 13 months of age I felt that she was short in ribbing but time has corrected this, CC and BoB (and BiS)2. Rowe’s Ch Boloria Nice’n Spicy JW, 3 year old WB, good coat and well presented, very feminine and full of expression, good prosternum but a bit upright at front, and shoulders not as tight as class winner, level topline, good clearance, level topline and good length of ribbing, moved out with parallel action, clearly enjoying herself.
