I would like to thank the Wire Haired Dachshund Club Committee for giving me the opportunity to judge at this prestigious show.  It was my first time awarding CC's to this variety and I thoroughly enjoyed my day.  Overall, the dogs had super temperaments, lots of waggy bums and an inability to stand still on the table, which was great to see.  The occasional one that did not want to come to my outstretched hand, did not back off, just stared and looked me up and down! Thank you to the exhibitors for their sporting acceptance of my decisions.  The higher classes were particularly difficult to separate, I could easily have presented more top awards! MPD (3) 1st and  Best Veteran in Show McCalmont's Silvae Mystic. She entered the ring with a spring in her step that belied her tenth year and held her head high, keeping a good outline on the move and moving out with pace and style.  She is a super shape, with everything in the right place, topped with an excellent wire jacket.  Very pleased to see her awarded Best Veteran in Show. 2 Patton's Int / Ir Ch Lesandnic Liberthine. Unlucky to meet the first today, this is another quality veteran whose movement belied her years.  She is a lighter brindle with the most beautiful reach of neck and flowing movement.  One just held a tad firmer topline on the move. 3 Rollinson's CH Nosinllor Joan of Arc. Good Cit D/B (3) 1 Dean's Brontillow Lady Dane. A moderate brindle bitch, well put together.  Good size, correct height to length, lovely head and expression.  Moved round with confidence.  2 Patton's Int / Ir Ch Lesandnic Larsson. 8 year old black brindle pin wire.  Male all through, he is a solid dog, well muscled and with good ground clearance.  He is well put together which shows in his easy movement. 3 Wharton's Lady Giselle of Greyhayne. MPD (1) 1 Vine's Cishelvine Caught Out. 6 month dark brindle boy with an excellent jacket.  He is a lovely shape, with a masculine head and kind expression.  He is well off for bone and correctly angled at both ends with super, well-padded feet.  He is still a raw baby but when he settled into his stride, pushing off from that good bend of stifle, he moved fluidly and with purpose. PD (1) 1 Seath's Q-Rens-Dax Enzo-Topazo. Harsh coated youngster of good proportions. Correct height to length with enough front and moderate angulation. His profile movement is impressive, he keeps a good outline on the move, just needs to tighten a little in front and behind, which will come with maturity. JD (2,1) 1 Bellamy's Veenen Onyx Resetin Gold at Garjay. Upstanding young male that kept a good topline on the move.  The best of coats with wire right down to his toes, and a strong masculine head.  Just needs to tighten in front. YD (2) 1 Wharton and Pugh's Derochaise Black Tarquin. Super young dog that surely has a bright future.  All male yet elegant and so light on his feet.  From his chiselled head, oval front and super reach of neck, through to his crisp coat and lovely angles, he keeps a super outline and is parallel both ways.  Was in the running for top honours, just needs that extra maturity to complete the picture. 2 Vine's Derochaise Justified for Cishelvine. Litter brother to the 1st and similar remarks apply.  This one is a slightly heavier build and not quite as together yet on the move but another one that is well made and of good proportions, with a super coat and ribbing. PGD (4,1) 1 Vine's Derochaise Justified for Cishelvine. 2 Hazell's Romanchi Nooksack at Vraibleu. Well presented brindle with the correct double coat.  Strong dog with a well muscled neck and shoulders.  His head carriage gives him the arrogance so typical of the dachshund.  A little unsettled on the move. 3 Derry's Eydehavn Helmsley at Andlouis. LD (8) 1 Phillip's Wiretap Here I am (IMP CAN) Impressive male dog with a strong, masculine head, harsh red coat so well presented, the best of fronts and tight feet.  He powered round like he could go all day.  He headed a strong class and was a serious contender for the big awards - wish there were more to go round! 2 Dible's Cishelvine Storm Sea at Liebling. Very attractive brindle dog that comes into his own on the move.  He flows round the ring because of his super construction, topped off with the harshest of coats and a head of pleasing proportions, with a kind and studious expression.  Unlucky to meet the 1st in such good form today. 3 McPherson and Patterson's Treis Pinheiros Obi Kenobi SW (IMP ESO) ShCM. OD (9) 1st and CC Coverley's CH Aventine Jamaica Inn. Heading a lovely class of males is this exuberant, free moving dog that excels in type and covers the ground easily.  He has enough front, harsh, double coat and is a good size, with correct height to length and not overdone in any way.  His length of ribbing and short, strong loin show in his top and underline.  He holds his shape well on several circuits of the ring and has good width and parallel movement both ways.  His tail never stopped wagging.  The competition for the CC was strong and he pulled out all the stops. 2nd and RCC Silvae Farrago. Hard to split the first two and in the end, I just preferred the length of stride of the first.  Another fine male, this dog also ate up the ground, holding his outline and using his well angled rear to push off, showing his hocks.  He too has a strong male head and is pleasing to go over on the table, with sound construction, well off for bone and a harsh, crisp coat.  Another one whose enthusiasm is visible on the move where his tail never stops. 3 McPherson and Patterson's Fransin Brasilian TP Panettone (IMP ESP) SHCM. MPB (6) 1 Phillips' Tendrow Dancing on a Dream at Clipperdown. Red baby with a harsh coat, super front and long neck into well laid shoulders. She is sturdy in body and has well angulated quarters. Sound on the move, keeping a good shape. 2 Vine's Cishelvine on Reflection. Black brindle baby with lots to like.  Not yet as together on the move as the 1st but could easily change places on another day. Pretty bitch with a well filled front, hammy rear and correctly textured coat, topped off with a very appealing head. 3 Dean's Brontillow Grace Darling. PB (4) 1st and Best Puppy Seath's Sunsong Wish Me Luck. Super, naughty puppy.  Correct size and proportions with decent ground clearance, moderate angulation, the harshest of coats and well off for bone.  She looks workmanlike and unexaggerated.  She gave her handler a hard time but when settled, moved soundly with a good length of stride. Her enthusiasm and confidence make her even more appealing. 2 Pughe and Fraser's Miss Tarama at Bystock. Another pretty bitch with lots to like  More feminine and elegant than the first, being slightly longer and lower.  Super ribbing, head and front, very well presented and sound on the move.  Am sure they will change places on another day. 3 Patterson's Sonic Amore. JB (6,1) 1 Bubb's Rocinda Dora for Wywknot. Elegant bitch that stands 4 square without being pulled into shape. She has substance whilst retaining her femininity. Elegant neck, moderate angles, free flowing movement. 2  Vine's Cishelvine Careless Wispa. A tad longer and not yet quite as together as the first, but another pretty bitch with lots to like.  Good coat, super top and underline and nice, tight feet. 3 Phillip's Time n Time Again. YB  (7)
1 Hastings' Lesandnic Sleepy Time. Brindle pin wire of lovely make and shape, with a strong yet feminine head and lovely dark almond shaped eye.  Moderate angles, great height to length proportions giving a balanced outline and super bone and feet.  She keeps a solid top and underline on the move and has strong parallel movement both ways.  Considered her for the higher awards - there were just not enough to go round! 2 Patton's IR CH Great By Lucky Dalmacia (IMP HUN) Just a little shorter in length but similar remarks apply.  Another one of good proportions, free moving with a super coat and moderate angles, presenting a pleasing and balanced outline. 3 Phillips Tendrow A Page in Time. PGB (3,1) 1 Clayton-Smith's Boloria's April Fool. Black brindle bitch of correct proportions.  Attractive head and very dark eye, sound and steady on the move. 2 Eldred's Bramalodge Amiety at Derdledash. Taller, lighter brindle with a good coat and pretty head.  She is an exuberant mover that makes her a little erratic behind. LB (9,2) 1 Phillips' Hototo Swelegant Gal at Tendrow. First class black brindle with super bone, head and coat.  Keeps an excellent outline on the move, illustrating her good construction.  She strides out freely, covering the ground effortlessly. 2 Davies' Tendrow Joie De Vivre By Atahira. Close decision between these 2 quality bitches.  Either of them could easily take top honours on another day.  Very similar qualities to the first, she is well made and presented with a good top and underline, moving with a purposeful stride. 3 Patterson's Ambiesque Agna. OB (10, 6) 1st , CC and Best of Breed McCalmont's CH Silvae Solo. Presented to perfection, this well-proportioned bitch oozes quality, she is so full of type and exuberance.  Clean well arched neck, topped by a beautiful head that she holds high and arrogantly on the move.  Everything is in the right place and in proportion .  She has a well filled front with prominent breast bone, good length of ribbing to support her firm topline and a lovely sweep of stifle, propelling her round the ring effortlessly even after several circuits. 2nd and RCC Patterson's Ambiesque Allure. Another quality bitch who was unlucky to meet the first in such fine form.  She is feminine and of good height to length, with moderate angles and effortless movement.  Well presented and handled to get the best out of her. 3 Rowe's Boloria's Naughty But Nice
