I was delighted when asked to judge the Wire Dachshunds & would like to thank the officers & committee of the Great Joint Dachshund Association for the invitation. I enjoyed my days judging with the help of my very efficient steward, thank you, & to the exhibitors for their very nice entry.

I found type & size more varied than I remember previously, temperaments were good but teeth need attention in some exhibits.

MPD 1 Baldwin’s Aventine Scotts Bluff, brindle puppy, excelled in head & neck, level topline, little short in upper arm, nicely angulated quarters with good bend of stifle, moved with confidence. PD (3) 1 Phillips’ Tendrow Replayed In Blue, stunning brindle youngster, balanced all through with good bone & feet, appealing head & expression, well placed shoulders & firm topline, nicely angulated quarters, moved true both ways. BP, pleased to see he went BPIS; 2 Dible’s Cishelvine Storm At Sea at Liebling, another nice one, lovely head & expression, lower type, smooth to go over with lovely lines, tight elbows, neat quarters, moved round freely. Promising; 3 Sorensen’s Jethard Just Jive. JD (2) 1 Warren’s Wagsford Lincoln, handsome boy with houndy head & good reach of neck into nicely constructed body. Taller in type, moved with drive keeping a firm topline; 2 Lewis Crooks’ Kormeese Luxury Luxor, more compact b/t in lovely condition, attractive head, good spring of ribbing, moved with purpose & handled very well. YD (1) 1 Bliss’ Knottrose Juniper at Tobenkipt, youngster with much to like, good size, decent front with tight elbows, ribbing well back, good coat, moved out with drive. PGD (1) A. LD (9) 1 McPherson & Paterson’s Fransin Brasilian TP Panettone, excellent quality brindle, didn’t put a foot wrong, so balanced all through, good bone, feet & legs, correct front with tight elbows, firm angulated quarters, moved freely with drive, a lovely picture in profile. CC, I was told his 3rd, well deserved; 2 McCalmont’s Silvae Farrago, stylish brindle boy, best of heads, long neck into well laid shoulders, tight elbows, sound nicely angulated rear. Moved out with style; 3 Seath’s Zlowfox AV Larhjelm at Sunsong. OD (6) 1 Phillips’ Ch Cishelvine Swellegant Guy at Tendrow, handsome boy with good substance & bone, head, neck & correct shoulder, all in proportion, well made quarters, moved true both ways. RCC; 2 Davies’ Ch Atahira Joie De Bleu, quality brindle, good head & eye, shoulder & forechest. Good coat & condition, moved very well, but a little short in second thigh; 3 McCalmont’s Ch Silvae Zealot. VD (1) 1 Vine’s Cishelvine Sea Swell, impressive 8 year old who showed his socks off, enjoying his day. Lovely outline both standing & moving, well done.

MPB (3) 1 Seath’s Sunsong Pine Nut, quality 8 months puppy, lovely to go over on the table. Everything fits, correctly shaped head, neck, front & hind angulation, harsh coat, good bone, today she was reluctant to move, I thought due to the line in the sports hall. I did see enough though to know she does move, a stunning puppy. Good luck; 2 Passey’s Upperholt Magnolia Springs to Cagebrook, another promising brindle pup. Pleasing head & body shape, moved out well keeping a good outline. Carrying a little extra weight, but very promising; 3 Clayton-Smith’s Boloria’s April Fool. PB (4,1a) 1 Davies’ Tendrow Joie De Vivre by Atahira, very nice puppy, loved her overall construction. Lovely head & eye shape, neck flowing into level topline. Good length of ribbing, on the move covered the ground with ease, just needs to settle in movement; 2 Jones & Rowe’s Boloria’s Arabella, also a nice brindle with an attractive head, correct front, prominent forechest, not the balance of 1, but moved & showed very well; 3 B April Fool. JB (7) 1 Moore’s Romanchi Mi’Kmaq, quality youngster, good size & balance, pleasing head, correct front angulation with neat rear, short hock, used to advantage on the move, just needs to hold back a little, tends to race, but handled very well. Liked her a lot, one for the future. RCC; 2 Warren’s Wagsford Lydia, another with a good outline, correct head & length of neck, good angles both ends, tight elbow, moved with ease; 3 Patterson’s Ambiesque Allure. YB (3,1) 1 Moore’s Romanchi Skokomish, taller type than litter sister in previous class, body all in proportion, similar remarks. Good coat, moved soundly both ways; 2 Smith’s Tendrow Rouge Et Noire at Salixian, nice type red girl, presented in good condition, little forward in shoulder, good bunchy feet, moved OK, preferred front movement of 1. PGB (4,1) 1 Gibson’s Allfreys Sterchen Alnisha, compact brindle with nice substance, feminine head & expression, liked size & body proportions. Moved soundly with drive; 2 Baxter’s Cishelvine August Breeze with Hotwire, elegant bitch, pleasing head, long neck, good forechest & hind angulation, moved true, looked lovely in profile; 3 Wharton’s Derochaise Zigana. LB (5,2) 1 Morris’ Wagsford Winona of Rocina, well presented & balanced brindle, good head & eye, bone & feet. Moved soundly both ways, keeping a good outline; 2 Moore’s Aventine My Cousin Rachel, attractive head, good neck into firm topline, shoulder correct with tight elbows. Moved with purpose; 3 Vines’ Cishelvine Enigma Of The Sea. OB (8,2) 1 McCalmont’s Silvae Solo, my star of the day. Stunning youngster, oozes quality. Super head on reachy neck into well proportioned body. Correct angles front & rear, impressive on the move with good extension & drive very stylish. Looked a picture in profile, pleased to award her CC & BOB; 2 Pugh & Fraser’s Ch Bystock Black Truffle, another quality exhibit, worthy ch, nice type who excelled in all departments, also a sound free mover; 3 Phillips’ Ch Tendrow Peaches. VB (0).
