Thank you to the committee of Blackpool Champ Show for the invitation to judge the 3 varieties with no CC’s. Thank you to the stewards who assisted in keeping the ring moving along and to the exhibitors for their patience due to the delay of judging to nearly 1.00. Thank you to the exhibitors for accepting my placings and the sportsmanship shown.

All exhibits were presented to a high standard and it was pleasing to note that teeth on the whole were generally clean and nails short. It was pleasing to see my BOB mini smooth Ch Marvale Up With The Lark winning the hound group under Mr Mike Gadsby and also my BOB mini wire Helyson Laird Loki being shortlisted in the group.

It was excellent also to have a large ring so I could watch exhibits moving and when making my decisions I looked for exhibits that could move soundly and that could work as a hound should do.

Standard Smooths.

Although not strong in numbers today I was pleased with all my class winners. All presented in excellent condition and all temperaments in this variety were excellent with no signs of nervousness or aggression which is this is very positive for the breed.  The overall level of quality was good and most exhibits very sound.

  1. J/D Lauralee Oscar Wild at Marvale  – Correctly constructed male with a pleasing head and almond eye. Lovely arched neck flowing in to correct shoulders. Nice tight feet and presented in first class condition. Moved soundly with purpose and drive carrying a level topline at all times. One I will watch in the future.
  2. Aidante Kickstars My Heart  – Smaller type than 1 not quite as much front as 1 pleasing head with a nice neck. Well placed shoulders and carried level topline. Would just have preferred better rear drive on the move.
  1. O/D Meganhol Black Musketeer Of Leveliss  – Presented in excellent condition. Conical head with nice almond eye, flowing neck into well placed shoulders. Ribbed well back and carried level topline and moved soundly out and back. Preferred the overall size of this male for BD and RBOB. Preferred the shoulder placement on the Bitch for BOB.
  2. Kireton Beau Diddley  – Again liked this exhibit and on another day could change places with no 1. Nice expression and again nice neck into well placed shoulders. Nice underline and ribbed well back. Carried topline on the move and drove soundly out and back.
  1. J/B Betsymira Witchcraft – 8 mth old puppy unfortunately not very cooperative with handler today and was difficult to access movement. Nice head and enough neck however would prefer more front on this puppy.
  1. O/B Ralines For Pete’s Sake – stunning B/T bitch full of confidence on the move. Full of breed type classic head, prominent front and correct ribbing and underline with a short loin. Moved soundly maintaining outline at all times. Was a pleasure to watch and award her BB and BOB. I am sure this bitch will achieve her title.
Kireton Daisy Bell  – another nice exhibit conical head oval eye and lovely arched neck into well placed shoulders. Well ribbed back with a nice underline. Moved sound both out and back. No 1 had slightly more front.
