SMOOTH HAIRED

My first appointment awarding CC's in this breed, but the skeleton of a Dachshund is the same regardless of the coat or size. I was looking for a good layback of shoulder, with upper arm of good length, ribbing to be 2/3rds of the length of the body and loin to be 1/3rd. I felt that too much emphasis has been placed on prominent forechest, which meant that keel was too short, as was ribbing in many cases. Being long in the loin meant hindquarters were weak, making hind action erratic. Most teeth were clean. Very pleased with the way the dogs coped with the conditions. I was pleased with my main winners.

PD.
(4). 1. Bethal's, Hampdach Pyrrus. S/r. Happy baby. Quite well put together. Moved well when he put his mind to the job. BPD and BPIB.

JD.
(5). 1. Davies's, Undeg Humming Top. S/r of good size, reasonable front construction but slightly long in loin. Good bend of stifle. Moved the best in this class. 2. Jones's, Matsell Megson with Indizak. B/t. Just out of puppy. Slightly heavier than winner, but will fine down and settle on the move. 3. Williams's, Layralee Charles Dickens.

PGD.
(4). 1. Linacre's, Cavalleria Rusticana. S/r. Well made boy with good front following through to good length of ribbing. Moved round the ring with purpose. A little fond of his tail, but just needs to gain a little more confidence. 2. Starkey's, Carpaccio Top of the Class at Hamours. B/t. Similar made to winner but preferred winner on the move. 3. Marsh's, Marshwick Merrison.

LD.
(7). 1. Cooper and Kerry's, Sontag Sir Cumference of Kireton. B/t. Find of the day. Beautifully put together from front construction, good length of rib, which led through to good hindquarters. Moved with purpose. Delighted to hand him his first CC and BOB. 2. Goad's, Rosanport the Illusionist. B/t. Slightly longer than winner, but well put together. Preferred winner on the move. 3. Marsh's, Marshwick Moonlight Shadow.

OD.
(4). 1. Burke and Manston's, Bonavoir Molton Brown. Choc/t. Up to size but put together well. Reasonable front and length of ribbing leading to good hindquarters. Moved well RCC. 2. Armstrong's, Ch. Lauralee Lloyd George. B/t. Nice size but short ribbing and long loin did not give strength in hindquarters. Moved ok. 3. Tite and Eales', Lauralee Role of Honour via Rijobeau.

PB
. (5). 1. Lockett-Walters and Ralines', Rumour Has It. B/t. Very dainty lady. Well made with good length of rib and keel. Moved well despite the awful weather conditions. Didn't co-operate with her handler in the challenge for Best Puppy. BPB. 2. Bethel, Hampdach Gold Class. S/r. Longer made than winner. Shorter in rib and keel, but moved well for such a baby. 3. Tite and Eales', Rijobeau Glitz and Glamour.

JB.
(3). 1. Higgin's, Matzell Morning Chorus for Leveliss. B/t. Small made bitch. Reasonable front and good length of rib. Slightly long in hock, but covered the ground well. 2. Norton's, Matzell Marlies. B/t. Longer in body than winner and appeared narrow all through and would not co-operate with handler on the day. 3. Jones's, Hampdach Rich Returns with Indizak. PGB. (5). 1. Bethel's, Hampdach Gemstone. S/r. Front construction was good, but slightly long in loin. Moved reasonably well.

LB.
(5). 1. Hunt's, Carpaccio Precious Pearl. B/t. Nicely put together. Of correct size, therefore covered the ground well. At one with her handler. Well deserved CC. 2. Mitchell's, Dubreys Dora the Explora. S/r. Front construction ok. Preferred hindquarters of winner. Moved ok. 3. Ellis's, Tealby Taken as Read.

OB.
(4). 1. Norton's, Ch. Matzell Maid of Honour. S/r. Very pretty lady. Put together well. Good length of rib. Strongest hindquarters in the class. RCC. 2. Goas's, Rosanport Play Me. B/t. Well made bitch. Covered the ground well, but not as elegant as winner. 3. Armstrong's, Lauralee Single Girl.
