Kyrenia Queens Request with Ranglewood
I would like to thank the officers and the committee of the Southern Dachshund Association for inviting me to judge their club show. I was made feel very welcome from I arrived until I left. There was a lovely atmosphere around the ring. I would also like to thank the young ring steward who kept things moving and kept me right with the paperwork.
Some observations, a lot of the dogs presented with very dirty teeth, something I don’t find pleasing. A red dog presented with a level bite and a female with a kink in her tail. These are faults that should not be presented in the show ring.
Puppy Dog
1st. O’Neills Ranglewood Pheonix at Donnadach
A substantial young black and tan boy. Beautiful head and expression, nice body shape when stacked, shoulders could be set a bit forward, had a tendency to flick right front paw coming towards me, movement was somewhat laboured.
Junior Dog

Wow what a find. A clear red dog with a super head and expression. Fabulous lay of shoulders, super clean front, super quarters, nice ribbing to loin. Topline carried level at all times both standing, on the move and stacked. In fantastic coat and condition and flawlessly presented. Beautiful type that moved correctly with great exuberance. A male to open eyes of all breeders. CC winner and later BOB and BPIB

Beautiful young shaded red male. Strong male, good head, nice shoulders, clean front, excellent quarters and topline. Presented and handled very well.

Nice head and expression, shoulders set forward, would prefer a stronger topline, moved clean in front when coming forwards however is loose in rear when moving away, uphill exercise may help to strengthen

Lovely clear red male. Good head and expression, good shoulders leading into a nice front. Slightly taller male who carries himself with elegance. Super movement away and back with a level topline at all times. Res CC
2nd Cross’s Breezelyn Long way to go to Loggeta
Good head. A cleaner bite would be preferable, this needs to be watched when using at stud. Long low male, topline could be stronger. Moved with purpose.

1st Lewis’s Trixhund Ten from Len
Black and Tan male of nice type. I wasn’t so keen on the broken dapple bits. Super front, shoulders and forechest. Nice ribbing, carried super topline at all times. Moved well away and back
2nd Garlick’s Ranglewood Harvest Song
Overweight heavy boy. Good head. Unfortunately his movement was very lack lustre

Beautiful head and expression. Very forward in shoulder, which hopefully will settle as she matures. Needs to settle on the the table but again this comes with maturity and training

Beautiful puppy. Lovely type and well balanced. Excellent head and expression, good shoulders and nice front assembly. Held a super topline at all times, moved cleanly away and back. I would expect this puppy to achieve top honours as she matures
2nd Wilson’s Delsaux Happy Ever After
Pleasing head. Shoulders set quite far forward, short in upper arm with long hocks which unfortunately gave her no topline

Beautiful Red female. Super head and expression. Lovely shoulders, excellent front with tight elbows, excellent ribbing and quarters, level topline held at all times. I really liked this young bitch whom I’m sure will get her title in the future Res CC
Yearling Bitch
1st Partridge’s Pettigans Viva La Vida by Riveroyal
Another nice female. Excellent head and expression. Good shoulders, nice tight front with tight elbows. Excellent rear. Moves and drives with purpose, maybe with a little bit too much purpose! She has excellent leg length to cover ground. she was allowed to over move which hampered her topline and caused a slight roach.

Black and tan of nice type. Unfortunately a bit on the nervous side which didn’t help in her assessment

Nice head and expression, good front, tight elbows, good ribbing, slightly long hocks taking away from her topline on the move.

What can one say about this female that hasn’t been previously said. I judged this beauty as a baby and gave her, her first Res CC. Super breed type, correct in all aspects from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail. Absolutely superb in confirmation. I had no hesitation in awarding her the CC. She only lost out on BOB as her movement slightly flagged at the end, probably due to the extreme heat
