I thoroughly enjoyed my day judging the Longs but was sorry to have to replace Alan Atkins who, at short notice, was unable to fulfil his appointment but he must take some consolation that he had been given a good entry. I am pleased to hear that he is much better now and thank the exhibitors for accepting my judgements in such a sporting manner. It has been six years since I last judged this variety and my overall thoughts are that there is a greater variance of size now, very few hammy quarters and in some, movement was close behind and not so positive. On the plus side there were very few with coarse heads, temperaments were great and coats, teeth and presentation a credit to their owners.  I was very pleased with all my top placings and the deciding factors after good conformation were movement and the size of the exhibits.  It was good to see my BP go RBPIS and the BV go BVIS under Cindy Dare. MPD (2) Two promising puppies. 1 Fossett's Brysdax Jack's Back.Red of Just 7 months  with a pleasing head, good bone and well placed shoulders and good angulation fore and aft. Moved well keeping his topline. 2 Lewis' Trixhund Euphoria.  Similar remarks apply to this 8 month well grown young man.  Both moved well for puppies but just preferred Jack's more positive movement coming and going on the day. Time on their side and not a lot to choose between them. PD (4) All types and sizes at different times of development. 1 Mark's Labbadax Fearless Warrior. 11 months and well up to size but had the best overall balance in this class. Lovely masculine head, good neck and topline which he kept on the move and sufficient angulation.  Moved out well.  2 McFaul's Shardaroba's Fashion Flow at Dachville. A lot to like about this 9 month puppy with a lot of maturing to do.  Lovely head, neck and forechest.  Firm topline and good angulation. Looked good moving in profile but rather narrow and moved close in front and behind. 3 Dunbar's Daamistico Kamali. JD (3,1) Quality class. Three promising dogs that could change placings any time. 1 Robert's Swansford Kestador. An ideal sized quality shaded red with good masculine head and eye, reach of neck and well placed shoulders. Low hocks, correct angulation front and back, good topline and underline and lovely overall outline at all times. Moved out freely still keeping a firm topline and covered the ground effortlessly. Liked him a lot. Well handled.  Pressed hard in the challenge RCC. 2 Duchesne's Darsoms Zifi of Scandell. Another quality red dog with a lot to offer.  Liked his head and expression. Good body proportions and angles. Lovely tight feet but a little higher in hock than Kestador. Moved out well but not with the elegance and flow of the winner and not so positive in rear movement. 3 Metcalfe-Bilgin's Metadale Moment of Glory. YD (1) 1 McNaughton's Cedavoch Under A Spell. Another good dog that I considered closely in the challenge but he didn't have the flowing movement that I was looking for on the day. Although he stood alone he fully deserved his placing.  Quality dark shaded red with good overall outline standing and on the move. Elegant and arrogant head carriage, good front and length of ribbing and well angulated front and rear. Moved soundly. His time will come. PGD (2) 1 Wood's Rogermardax Jack Spratt. A well balanced red who won on his overall body construction and more positive movement. He kept a firm topline when moving but would benefit by showing a little more enthusiasm when on the move. 2 Chappell's Gleneddee Liquorice Dream. B/T with nice head and body and pleasing to go over on the table but unfortunately tended to move too close and lose his topline. LD (11,1)  Varied types and sizes in this class. 1 Booth and Elsley's Abbalongdat The Visitor. Larger exhibit than I prefer but nevertheless deserved his position. I feel he would look even better with a little less weight.  Presented in lovely condition all through. Good masculine head and eye, well angulated front and rear and firm topline. Moved out well with his handler. 2 Wilson's Rogermardax Senor Dougal. Similar remarks apply to this b/t as to the winner but would like to see tighter feet and he didn't move out so positively as The Visitor. 3 Hagan & Borsuk's What a Corker at Follypaws. OD (9) Lovely class. Spoilt for choice and splitting hairs for the placings. 1 Boyle's Ch. Zarcrest Hugo Boss.  Quality well muscled  shaded red, beautifully presented and caringly shown in tip-top condition. A lesson in presentation. Underneath the shining coat there is good construction as well. Classic masculine head with arrogant head carriage. Good reach of neck which flowed into well placed shoulders. Good front assembly and feet.  Correct angulation front and rear enabling him to move out smoothly and positively with his handler. Really drove round in the BIS ring. A credit to his owner. DCC and BOB. 2 Mitchell's Ch. Bronia Larenzo. Another worthy champion of different type and lighter red and shown in well muscled condition. Lovely to go over - all of a piece. Similar remarks apply as he has all Hugo Boss's attributes including good movement.  Well handled.  Same sire as the winner of Y. Close decision but Hugo just had that extra bit of showmanship today. 3 Johnson's Africandawns Night Hawk. VD (2) Two lovely veterans not showing their age. 1 Sutton's Damai Master Benedict ShCM. An up to size veteran not showing his age of 9 years and 8 months and really enjoying his day.  Good head and eye, neck and topline and well angulated.  Good body covered in a gleaming b/t coat.  So well presented and turned out. He moved round the ring soundly and with enthusiasm. A credit to his owner. 2 Hutton's Owlery Majestic of Dachalune ShCM.  Elegant red, also not showing his 9 yrs and 10 months. So well presented and turned out but had to lose out today as he was longer in loin than Benedict and although he moved well for his handler he did not show the same enthusiasm as the winner. MPB  (1) 1 Lewis' Trixhund Endless Euphoria. Feminine. 8 month b/t  puppy with attractive head and eye, good reach of neck and sound body proportions. Tended to look a tad square standing and on the move as she was a little straight in front and rear angulation. Nevertheless she showed well for her handler. PB (7) (1) 1 Booth & Elsley's Labbadax Gimme Gimme Gimme at Abbalongat. A good sized 9 month, roly-poly red who, under the puppy-fat, was a quality puppy with good bone. This exhibitor seems to like her dogs very well covered. Feminine head, good reach of neck and adequate angulation. Good topline and underline and presented  in good condition. Moved out well and confidently with her handler retaining a firm topline. BPIB and pleased to see her go RBPIS. 2 Marks' Labbadax Feisty Empress.  Litter sister to winner of PD.  An 11 month red puppy, larger framed than Gimme but also had an attractive feminine head,  and overall good body proportions but although she moved out well retaining a firm topline she wasn't so positive in rear movement as the winner.  3. Hutton's Daamistico Destiny at Dachalune. JB (4) Good class. 1 Mitchell's Pramada's Zandra At Bronia. An elegant, well muscled b/t of lovely size and type that I admired a lot and closely considered in the challenge. Attractive head and eye, good reach of neck and length of ribbing, tight elbows and well off for bone. Correct angulation fore and aft so moved out well.  Best mover in the class. I shall watch her progress with interest especially as I see she is a USA import. 2 Metcalfe-Bilgin's Metadale Moment of Pleasure. Larger red of different type to the winner. Has a lovely feminine head, good reach of neck, forechest and firm topline. Good angulation so also moved out well with her handler.  Unlucky to meet Zandra in such good form. 3 Johnson's Darsoms Zeony At Africandawns.YB (1) 1 Garlick's Ranglewood Diamond Heist. This young lady stood alone but deserved her placing. Attractive b/t with feminine head, good shoulders and topline and well balanced body.  Good outline standing and when on the move. Good to go over. She let herself down by being a bit fidgety when stacked and her movement tended to be a little erratic. Just needs time to settle. PGB (7,1) 1 Metcalf-Bilgin's Metadale Midsummer Dream.  Another one sired by Bronia Lotario that I liked a lot.  He also sired the winner of YD and 2nd in OD.  Red bitch with an elegant head, good neck and shoulders, feet, forechest and topline. Lovely outline in stack. Moved soundly especially in profile but just needs to tighten and be more positive in rear movement. 2 Booth & Elsley's Abbalongat Ice Queen. A larger bitch than the winner and a little lower to ground than I prefer but couldn't be denied her placing. Again I think she would show off her attributes if shown a little lighter in weight. Lovely elegant red to go over with feminine head, good body and shown in good gleaming condition. Moved out well with her handler keeping a firm topline. 3 Chappell's Glenedee Liquorice Star. LB (12,5) All different types and sizes. I was nick-picking between the first four. The first two placings had the overall soundest movement in the class including good conformation. 1 Burke & Manston's Bonavoir Serenity. Lovely, well boned red bitch to go over. She showed beautifully and confidently in the class but when it came to the challenge she wouldn't cooperate at all with her handler and seemed to get very fidgety and really threw her chances away.  Elegant and everything in the right place including hammy quarters. Good head, reach of neck and shoulder placement and ribbing. Correct angulation fore and aft and she moved out soundly keeping her topline in the class. 2 Surrell's Bokra Masquerade.  Elegant deep shaded red, well muscled and in good condition but different type to the winner. Another one who moved out soundly and positively. Good head and eye, front and reach of neck flowing into correct shoulders. Lovely to go over on the table but another exhibit who was a little fidgety on the floor. Moved out well with her handler. 3 Mitchell's Bronia No Peeping. OB (6) Quality class. Spoilt for choice.  Splitting hairs for the line up. 1 McFaul's Ch/Ir. Ch Dachville Special Blend. Elegant b/t who is a real showlady. Feminine head and eye, good reach of neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Tight feet. good forechest and ribbing, topline and  front and back angulation.  Well balanced exhibit of a pleasing size and make. Simply drove round the ring today moving soundly and keeping her good topline and elegant outline. BCC. Very close decision for BOB.  2.  Geeson's Ch Abbydachs Summer Lovin. I thought she was going to be my winner when she entered the ring but just wasn't as settled and free moving as Special Blend today but an eye-catching exhibit. Quality red bitch with all the attributes of the winner and of the type and make that I like. Well presented and handled. RBCC. 3 Harris & Winchurch's Zarcrest Devil Wears Prada. VB (2)  Both veterans shown in great condition and really moving well. In fact, could show some of the youngsters a thing or two. 1 Robert's Ch Swansford Burburydora. Quality b/tan 8 year old of correct size and shape and in good muscled condition and putting her all in to showing today.  Lovely head, reach of neck and forechest. Correct angulation both ends so drove round the ring in a sound and elegant manner keeping a good topline. Well presented and handled and looked as if she was enjoying her showing. Pleased to award her BV and also went BVIS.  Well done. 2 Booth & Elsley's Ch Abbalongat Ms VoulezVous. Another quality 9 year old red veteran who was unlucky to meet up with the winner in such good form. You can understand why she is a champion as she also is elegant with a lovely head and good attributes all through. Lovely to go over and although she moved soundly she couldn't match the winner's enthusiasm and freedom of movement today.
