LONG HAIRED

Many thanks to WKC committee for inviting me to judge, and to the exhibitors for a numerically good entry. My 2 stewards worked like Trojans all day with no break to ensure that we got through in time, I am extremely grateful to them for that. I had asked to be moved into an empty ring earlier but this wasn’t possible so I apologise to some of the bitch classes for going quicker than I normally would. It is 2 and a half years since I last awarded CC’s in this breed and sadly the faults I noticed last time have become more prevalent. Where has all the elegance gone? Heavy heads with broad back skulls are common place and expressions in many leave a lot to be desired. Layback of shoulders seem to be better but many are totally lacking in upper arm meaning they are unable to reach out in front on the move. Hindquarters are ok but many can’t use them to drive on the move because they simply can’t take long enough strides in front. The standard calls for the upper arm to be equal length to the shoulder blade, many weren’t even half the length. This meant that free flowing movement with long strides just wasn’t present in the majority of the entry. A lot were well over the desired upper weight limit of 26lbs especially in males but sadly this had to be overlooked to find correct construction. Some needed nails trimming urgently and many had dirty teeth, this is unacceptable, both take just a couple of minutes to remedy. There were no kinky tails but there was 1 incorrect bite.

pd
(2)1.McNaughton’s Cedavoch Kaballah. 10 month old B/T, mature boy for age in good coat and condition. Excellent size with a lovely head, good neck leading into well placed shoulders. Used his good rear well on the move to really power round the ring. True coming and going. Very good prospect for the future. 2 Burke & Manston’s Ranglewood Galax with Bonavoir, super type of dog, looked immature against 1 and not moving as well behind today. Good head and expression, excellent front assembly, ribbing carried well back and good hind quarters. Will watch these two puppies with interest as they mature.

JD
(3)1 Dare’s Bronia Salvador of Darsoms. S/R, ok in head but expression could be better, good neck, good layback of shoulder but lacks upper arm. Good ribbing and adequate quarters. Moved true coming and going would like more reach and drive in profile movement. Needs his coat to finish the picture. 2. Lewis’ Zarcrest Designer Boots by Trixhund. B/T super size, fine head, good neck and shoulders. Level topline held on the move, would like better angulation behind. Moved true but narrow through. 3. Cross’ Loggeta O’Neil

PGD
(4)1 Negus’ – Tarramist Adonis Dream – 2yr B/T in excellent coat and condition. Super elegant type with beautiful head and front assembly, well laid shoulders and good long upper arm giving excellent reach in front on the move. Well angulated quarters which he really knows how to used on the move. At times this boy is so exuberant on the move that he can lose his topline but when he steadied he looked lovely. Please to award him the RCC 2 Burke & Manston’s Loggeta Duke of Marmalade. 14 month old mature boy, good size, ok in head, good layback of shoulder and long ribbing, powerful quarters used well on the move. 3 Dare & Cooper’s Darsoms Zamaras by Merrygarth

LD
(7,2)1 Dunbar’s Bronia Fernando – 2yr S/R dog of good size, would like a better head but had a good neck leading into well laid back shoulders, level topline and good ribbing carried well back. Good rear angulation which is used well on the move. Very sound on the move and good in profile. 2 Mitchell’s Bronia Classic Legacy. S/R dog in beautiful coat and condition. Lovely head with a very good expression, lovely well laid shoulders with adequate upper arm. Good topline held well on the move. Would like to see more drive from behind on the move. 3. Wharton’s Swansford. Vanador

OD
(6,3) 1 Clarke’s CH/AUST CH Tekalhaus Masterpiece ShCM. Mature S/R back in top form, super head and expression, excellent shoulders and long upper arm. Good prosternum and width throughout. Long ribbing carried well back, well angulated quarters. This dog looks a picture going round and is true both coming and going. Excellent showy temperament. Delighted to award him the CC and BOB and so pleased to see him shortlisted in the group. Well done. 2 Robert’s Ch Swansford Lanador. 10 yr old S/R boy in fabulous coat and condition for age. Have always liked this sound honest boy, super type. Good shoulders and long ribbing carried well back, excellent quarters. He really showed some of the youngster how to move. 3 Nightingale’s Swansford Gryffindor at Rodima

MPB
(2,1) 1 Marsden & Robinson’s Bronia Carlotta. 6 month red baby, nice type and overall shape. Good head and long neck leading into well laid shoulders. Could have a longer upper arm. Good rear used to advantage on the move.

PB
(2)1 Garlick’s Ranglewood Genista. B/T super type and size. Good head, long neck leading into well placed shoulders with a good length of upper arm. Ribbing carried well back and level toppling carried well on the move. Good rear used to advantage on the move. Very true coming and going and looked lovely going round. Should do very well when she matures. BPIB 2 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Mystique – More mature than 1 but sadly a bit uncoordinated on the move due to her over excitement! Lovely type, would like to see her more settled.

JB
(4,1) 1.Mitchell’s Bronia Enchantress – red bitch of a good size, out of coat but nothing to hide. Good neck leading into well laid back shoulders, could use more upper arm. Well ribbed back and good quarters. True coming and going and looked good in profile. RCC 2 Callow’s Metadale Miranda, nice type of bitch and good size but could do with loosing a bit of weight! Nice front and good length of ribbing carried well back. A bit narrow on the move but holds her outline well. 3 Fricker’s Seahaven Aspiring Annie

PGB
(8,1) 1Cook & Rhodes Bournder Frankincense. Lovely type of bitch. Super head and front assembly with long upper arm. Level topline held well on the move. Good rear used to advantage. Best mover in the class. Full sister to the CC winner and so like her, just didn’t settle in the challenge as well as she had here. Seriously considered for the RCC N2. 2 Dare’s Darsoms Zienna. Good type and size. Ok in head but would like a better expression, good topline held well on the move. Sound coming and going. 3 Negus’ Tarramist Ophelia

LB
(6,1) 1 McNaughton’s Bronia Fascination, red bitch of good type and size, in excellent coat and condition. Good head, reachy neck leading into well laid shoulders, good top and underline. Nice quarters. Looked excellent going around and true coming and going. Close up for top awards. 2 Garlick’s Charmed Camillia at Ranglewood, good honest bitch who excels on the move. A bit plain in head but good front assembly, long ribbing and good quarters which she really uses on the move. 3 Mitchell’s Brynalyn Fancy Free at Imirika

OB
(4,1) 1 Cook & Rhodes Bournder Royal Sapphire. This lovely B/T bitch was really on form today, beautiful head, neck and front construction with very well laid shoulders and long upper arm. Long ribbing carried well back. Good rear. Very sound on the move with long reachy strides. Delighted to award her the CC, her 2nd, hope her 3rd isn’t too far away. 2 Dare’s Ch Loxbar Rubi Muri Darsoms. Lovely type of bitch with feminine head, good front assembly with well laid shoulders and good upper arm. Well angulated quarters. Looks a picture stacked but sadly loosing her topline on the move today. 3 Mitchell’s Bronia Classy Chassis at Imirika
