I would like to thank the Committee for a very pleasant run show. And my Steward who kept the dogs and competitors coming into the ring and did a wonderful job . A fabulous entry of Mini Smooths and Standard Wires. Just a few points to mention I was a bit surprised to see an overshot mouth, but teeth of cleanliness had improved. all round.. As to angulation and length of leg, we must be very careful as to what is a show dog and a tracking dog, the length of leg is at the expense of angulation, A dog that shows should have a reasonable angulation and leg of the correct proportion. So it is able to carry the body for all that is expected of the character and health , it should be of a certain fitness so one can say I could take that dog out and it would work as well as show. We do not yet have a working class yet which is a completely different type of Teckel / Dachshund . I hope you can appreciate the difference . Thank you you all for your efforts and entries .

. Puppy Dog

1 Ergis Souxline Jacob. A well presented dog with a good hound head and expression. Well developed fore chest extending into a good lay of shoulder good tight feet. Correct length of neck, well ribbed, extended into a correct length of loin. Overall good proportions. On the move had a good extended gait front and back.. Overall a very nice puppy

    2. Williams Wilmerella Go West. A different type to the first. good fore chest with good lay of shoulder, correct length of neck. Would prefer a bit more ribbing to length ratio. Correct coat. A good top line on the move did not quite drive out as well as the first.

Junior Dog

1 Dunhill Gellijams Parker Good hound head with almond shaped eye, with correct bite, and Jawline, Good lay of shoulder and tight feet. I would prefer a little less length of loin, tended to dip on the movement. Perhaps a bit more impulsion would help.

Post Graduate Dog

1 Sterry Barisse Asarabacca Quality head with almond shaped eye. Good length of neck, well presented lay of shoulder. Ribbing and loin of correct proportions . On the move flys the tail, try to get that down a bit more. Movement drove out and kept a top line.

2. Barrett Star's Tori Great Joy (imp) Good pigmentation, slightly narrow head a good depth of fore chest,, with a good stop prefer a tighter elbow, not quite as good lay of shoulder, Ribbing and length of loin correct. Good angulation, on the move presented a good out line and kept a top line.

Limit Dog

1 Carey Swingletrees Abracadabra. A well made dog of good proportions with good pigmentation correct bite and jawline with a clean good expression, a good length of neck and correct fore chest. Tight feet and elbows with a good lay of shoulder. Good length of ribbing would prefer shorter loin. Movement kept a top line and used the ring

2. Starkey Carpaccio Just my Luck with Hamoura Strong hound head almond shaped eye, correct length of neck, with a good lay of shoulder, with a well developed fore chest . Correct straight hocks . On the move just did not keep the top line I found no reason for this other than perhaps a slightly faster pace. would help.

Open Dog

1 Barrett CH Ayseebee Rumor Has It . Good strong hound head and eye, with a good length of neck correct lay of shoulder. Proportions of length and height correct, strong ribbing straight hocks with a good tail sett. Movement was flowing and used the ring keeping the top line.BOB

2. Protheroe CH RoyalMaple Anky Panky Quality hound head and eye, a good length of neck a promenient fore chest , Prefer a bit more lay of shoulder. Elbows not as tight as I would like, with a correct length of ribbing and loin, forward movement lost the top line on the move.

Puppy Bitch

1. Hunt Carpaccio Midnight Lace A quality puppy with a correct head and almond shaped eye, with a good strong jaw line and correct mouth. A graceful length of neck, with a correct fore chest, the length and depth of proportions to ratio are correct, this little bitch took my eye around the ring, and she did not dissappoint me .Her movement showed when mature she could do a days work but still come into the ring and show herself off, which is what we should be looking for. Beautifully turned out with a correct coarse coat. Best Puppy in Breed and BPIS.

2.Worswick Dolyharp Sonata A well presented bitch with a good conical hound head and almond shaped eye. Correct fore chest leading to a good lay of shoulder, good tight feet. Ribbing of good length, I would prefer a little less loin. Correct angulation with straight hocks. On the move went well and held a top line true to its breed but lacked a bit of pfazaz.

Junior Bitch

1 Ergis Souxline Dapperdax Destiny A well made bitch with a good hound expression and almond shaped eyes. A Good reach of neck leading to a well placed for chest. A little upright in shoulder, with good length of ribbing and correct length of loin. Excellent angulation with nice straight hocks . Moved forward and kept a top line. BOS

2. Mrs F Hutchings Stargang Hot Crossbun A compact well made bitch with a good pleasing expression correct mouth and jawline, prefer the fore chest to have more ground clearance. A correct lay of shoulder well ribbed and loin length. Straight hocks. On the move kept a top line and showed her pads. Overall a very nice bitch.

Post Graduate Bitch

1. Hunt Cappaccio Scarlet O' Hara Correct coat with the length and depth of proportions correct . A good head and fore chest with a good lay of shoulder , with a good length of ribbing and loin, would prefer a more bend of stifle, On the move a correct top line, and striding out showing pads , a good fore wheel drive.

2. Wolferlow Maid Marion A good hound expression with a correct mouth and jaw line . Prefer more depth for the fore chest which slightly impedes on the movement. Good angulation and hind movement. Lost a bit of the top line at the end

Limit Bitch

1 Dare Bronia Gianetta taf. Well made bitch good expression head and eye correct with a good jaw line and mouth. A good fore chest and lay of shoulder. ratio correct, full ribbing and a strong short loin correct hocks and angulation. On the move strode out and used its self with a good tail sett. Showing pads on the move.

2 Davies Dave Dax Red Button Head of good proportion slightly round in eye, Good depth of chest, with good ribbing would prefer less loin. Hind angulation with good strong straight hocks. Moved well round the ring just not as well as first.

My thanks to the committee of The Midland Dachshund Club for inviting me to judge and for my team of stewards who were always there to assist, which at times included holding the umbrella during the odd spots of rain!

Standard Smooths

My first time judging this variety and I found the exhibits to be well presented.

P.D. (1) 1st Higgin’s Meganhol Black Musketeer of Leveliss. Black & Tan. Strode out well, maintaining his topline on the move. Strong front construction. Would prefer slightly less loin. BPD.

J.D. (1) 1st Balazs-Hirt’s Colocensis Rex Mister At Gravelous (IMP HUN) Red dog with good head. Would not have wanted any more depth of chest, which affected the front movement.

P.G.D. (2) 1st Kerry’s Kireton Beau Diddley. Black & Tan. Quite a chunky fella, and wouldn’t want him any longer. Won this class on his movement, correct coming and going, which I preferred over my 2nd place. 2nd. Skipper’s Lauralee Artful Dodger. Black & Tan. Nice head. Would prefer slightly more width to the chest. Movement very close in front and behind.

L.D. (2) 1st Starkey’s Carpaccio Topic of The Day is Hamoura. Chocolate & Tan. Moved out well, maintaining his topline. Good front construction and reasonable length of ribbing. 2nd. Stringfellow’s Sontag Silvan Sorcerer. Red. Didn’t give of his best today probably due to the heat. Nice head, slightly deep chest with very well covered body.

O.D. (4) 1st Tite’s CH Phaeland Special Driver at Rijobeau. Red. Presented a lovely outline stacked and on the move. Houndy head and body in firm condition. Good shoulder placement, prominent pro-sternum, good length of ribbing and balanced rear angulation, leading to correct movement. Pleased to award him BOB. 2nd Chauhan & Cerasini’s CH Brownwood’s Best Gift V Diagram. Black & Tan. In excellent condition but would not want him any longer in body. Strode out well driving from the rear.

P.B. (2) 1st Allam’s Meganhol Daydream Believer. Black & Tan. Good head and eye with balanced front and rear angulation, and good length of rib. Strode out well and pleased to award BPIB. 2nd Tite’s Phaeland Sweet Dancer. Red. Sturdy puppy, who strode out well. Balanced angulation but would prefer slightly less depth of chest and longer ribbing.

J.B. (4.1a) 1st Chauhan & Manish’s Ralines Midsummer Nights. Black & Tan. Pleasing head, good front and rear angulation and hence moved with drive and enthusiasm. Would not want any longer in body. 2nd Tite’s Rijobeau Caught on Camera. Red. Not as elegant as 1st and although moved well, dipped her topline on the move. Would prefer slightly less depth of chest and longer ribbing.

P.G.B. (1) 1st Kerry’s Kireton Daisy belle. Black & Tan. Balanced movement, correct coming and going and maintained a level topline. Would prefer slightly more ground clearance.

O.B. (2.1a) 1st Hunt’s Lauralee Miss Marple at Carpaccio JW ShCM. Black & Tan. Everything in proportion and well balanced front and rear angulation. Presented a pleasing outline, both on the move and stacked. Easy flowing, correct movement. Not quite as toned as my BOB, but pleased to award BOS.

Puppy Dog

1  Gibson Allfrey's London Look An outstanding puppy a Correct Jacket of coarseness. A beautiful hound head of correct proportions, conIcal shape and almond eyes, correct mouth and jaw line. A good lay of shoulder and depth of fore chest neat tight elbows ribbing and loin meets the breed standard. Excellent angleulation and straight hocks. On the move a little unsettled .This is not a fault of the dog when he did settle he moved straight and true. Excellent turnout.

Junior Dog

1 Gibson Here's Looking At You Harsh coat, a good hound head with correct detention and jawline with a good reach of neck. Prefer a little more lay of shoulder, correct length to height . Moved true away and kept a top line showing pads.

2 Clayton-Smith Cishelvine Judge and Jury Good head with correct dentition, ears are a bit too short for my liking . Good reach of neck with a good lay of shoulder, Prefer a bit more ribbing good angulation. On the move lost a top line on the back straight .

Post Graduate Dog

1 Chambers Hototo Bark at the Moon I would prefer a more harshness coat. A good hound head and eye. Correct forechest and a good length of neck. With a good lay of shoulder good ribbing and loin . Movement of true and forward perfer slightly more angulation. Kept a top line on the move.

Limit Dog

1. Wharton and Pughe Derochaise Black Tarquin A good length of ear strong hound head and eye, with a correct harsh coat, perfer a bit more forechest, with a good lay of shoulder with correct ribbing and loin. The best I have seen for a long time. A correct bend of stifel this is why this dog can move well and with purpose, and can use itself around the ring, but gracefull keeping the top line BOB

2 Bubb Teckel garth Leapoffaith to Wyeknot . Good harsh Jacket. Strong hound head correct mouth a more compact dog with correct lay of shoulder, ribbing just need bit more. Good angulation with straight hocks. Moved with forward and true gait showing pads and keeping a topline.

Puppy Bitch

1  Hutchings Tendrow I am the One from Collidach. A good harsh jacket with a good feminine strong hound head and eye. . A good fore chest and lay of shoulder. Neat elbows.
