My thanks go to the Crufts committee for inviting me to judge my own breed at the show. Their hospitality was wonderful and I was treated exceptionally well.
My steward Mr Paul Hayes, worked tirelessly and was the most efficient Steward anyone could have and I thank him most Sincerely.
I thank all the exhibitors for their entry and I was delighted to have the opportunity to judge some lovely dogs.
I was of course, using the RKC breed standard as my template and one thing that stood out was the size of some of the exhibits. Since losing the scales size has begun to creep up and it was apparent that some of the entries were well above the ideal 4.5kg with a leniency to 5kg. Ironically, some exhibits lacked body and would have benefitted from more coverage and in some cases more muscle tone.
Without weighing, onecan only judge by eye, but having had the breed for 43 years, I can see when an exhibit is well over the required size. I bore this in mind but had to forgive it in some cases. The miniaturization must be considered when judging and breeding.
I temperament tested all the dogs and only a couple were reluctant to stand their ground which is excellent.
Mouths I found were generally good with correctly placed large, white teeth. However, a few had misplaced canines and a few had teeth that needed a clean!
Coats were, in general, very good, although some would benefit from better presentation, but that did not influence my placings either.
One worrying thing was hind action. Several exhibits were only moved halfway across the ring in order to try and disguise pinning in but this fault is a sign of weakness and although I did have to forgive it to some degree, It could not support the dog being placed higher.
Handling ranged from expert to needing further training. Again, this did not colour my judgement but some dogs would have shown to more advantage if handled better.
In summary, I was looking for a mini wire of the correct size, with a harsh wire coat, The height to length ratio of one to two and enough ground clearance without being too long on the leg.
I was highly delighted with my winners and enjoyed my day.
Good Citizen Dog Scheme Dog (2)
1st: SIEMINSKI Dallandor Burdock
Larger Wild Boar boy with good masculine head and correct dark almond eye. Good temperament, moved OK in profile but hind action could be neater, well off for bone and has good feet. Beat 2 on tail carriage.
2nd: KILROY Blackvein Cupid at Janacop
Better sized
Wild Boar with pleasing head and eye. Correct height to length ratio one to
two. Good harsh coat well presented. Shame he is so proud if his stern.

Red boy of 9
months and correct size. Balanced head and dark almond eye. Front developing
and kept his topline. Hind action will benefit from more muscle as he matures.
Perfect mouth. BPD & BPIB
2nd:RUSSELL Russteck Look No Further
Lovely type of Wild Boar with super proportions, slightly larger than first but still well within the range. Moved quite well up and down and kept his topline. Hope his mouth develops.
3rd: ZWOFERINK SCHUT Queenlord Take it Easy Mama.
Lovely red with super coat. Well balanced, but too big for me.

A big boy
but lovely type with harsh Wild Boar coat. Presentation and handling second to
none. Has a good masculine head and ark almond eye. Well off for bone, has
good feet. Height to Length correct.
2nd: TYESON & CANO Horlrik Siegfried at Jaggybrae
Another Wild
Boar who unfortunately is too proud of his stern, Good front with oval thorax,
would benefit from better presentation.

Larger Wild
Boar, Well presented in good coat, Beautiful masculine head with dark almond
eye. Lovely front with well developed forechest. Good feet. Would like
stronger hind action which cost him the class.
3rd: ROSE Ridanflight Gilcoru Gino
Red of
correct size, lovely head, eye and mouth. Super front and ribbing, just tucked
up too much in profile movement which spoilt the picture. Maybe he was cold? I
certainly was!
Post Graduate Dog (7,1)
1st: KIRKWOOD-EMERY Helydon Xtra Xpecial JW
Smart young Wild Boar expertly presented and handled. Correct size, Good head and eye. Enough neck and well placed shoulders with tight elbows. Kept a good outline in profile and up and down movement was parallel.
2nd: LIVINGSTONE & WESTWOOD Lordscairnie Love Destiny at Hopewood
Larger Wild Boar with good coat. Masculine head, much better moving than on the stack, where he tucked up and spoiled his outline.
3rd: LIVINGSTONE & WESTWOOD Rednapp Sandbanks
Wild Boar with good temperament and pleasing head. Coat could be better and a little loose in hind movement.
Limit Dog (3)
1st: CORNER Carcorn Raphael's Racer
Best in class for size, Wild Boar with good coat. Slightly fond of his stern but his stronger hind movement made up for this. Good head, could have more forechest, Good feet and legs. Correct height to length ratio. Level topline.
2nd:ROWBERRY Griffingate Crusader
Larger Wild
Boar, better moving that at the stack where he tucked up and didn’t co-operate.
Stronger hind movement than 3rd. Good head, tight elbows, would
benefit from better coat presentation.

correct size and balance of height to length. Super masculine balanced head and
dark almond eye. Oval thorax and prominent forechest. Good bone and feet with
wire all the way. Well placed shoulders, elbows tight, level topline at all
times. Moved parallel out and back and kept outline in profile, Tail carriage
correct off topline. Super type and correct one to two balance. CC & BOB
2nd: ZWOFERINK SCHUT Queenlord Planck Epoch
Bigger Wild
Boar with more ground clearance than winner. Good masculine head, Super wire
coat. Moved well in profile keeping his topline, shame he isn’t a size smaller.

Good sized Wild Boar of correct proportions. Well constructed throughout but lost on erratic hind action.

To come back at 13.5 and take a Res CC in this company, is testament to how amazing this dog is! I gave him a CC and BOB in his youth. His great grandson took BOB today. Obviously his construction is correct throughout, but it was his movement that led to this award. He can still outmove many of the youngests today, What a credit to his Breeder/owner. RCC
2nd: MILLS- JONES Ch Carlita Sunrise JW
A worthy champion, Wild Boar in larger mould that first. Not quite the confidence or head carriage of the winner, but did enough to show off his good topline and pleasing construction.

forechest, Good head, neck and shoulders, Kept topline at all times.

Pretty Wild Boar of correct size though carrying too much covering today which spoilt her overall appearance. Well constructed and put together, compact and well ribbed. Would like more Ethusiasm.

Wasn’t very happy today which affected her tail carriage and profile movement.

head. Balaned correct Height to length. Would like more bone. Good neck and

Mature, well
presented Wild Boar of neat proportions. Overall type and balance good. Kept
her topline in all directions and moved out well showing drive from behind in
the challenge, just preferred neck and forechest of CC winner. RCC
2nd: BUSTA Donna Summer Vitoraz
Wild Boar
with good coat and presentatn. Longer cast than 1st and head a
little masculine for me. Would benefit from more muscle on second thigh.
However, should and ribbing good with forechest.

Dark Wild Boar of lighter frame all through. Shown a little lean for me. Great coat texture, good neck and correct angles front and back. Alittle flighty on the move.

Wild Boar with harsh rather mottled coat. Neat and good size. Preferred the overall balance of winner and topline not as firm. Moved out well in all directions.
