My sincere thanks to the committee of the Southern Dachshund Association for inviting me to judge, the exhibitors for giving me a great entry and to Jenny Rose, my steward, for keeping everything ticking along nicely. I was very pleased with my class winners and some placings were very close. Almost all exhibits were presented well.
Miniature Wires
PD (1) 1st. Kirkwood’s Beetlejuice Vitoraz at Helydon (CZECH IMP) NAF. Very promising red, 9 months of age, just needs to mature. Lovely head and eye, good length of neck into sound front construction. Good return of upper arm and good length of ribbing. Good rear angulation and drive. Lovely course coat. Correct proportions. Moved out well. Pleased to award BPD, BD & BPIB & BOS and delighted to see him gain RBPIS.
JD (1) 1st. Kirkwood’s Beetlejuice Vitoraz at Helydon (CZECH IMP) NAF.
LD (1) 1st. Grant’s Pennywave Percy At Granhoward. Nice dark brindle 2 year old. Pleasing head, good length of neck, good shoulder placement and return of upper arm. Not quite the rear angulation to match but strode out with some rear drive. Good course coat. Pleased to award RBD
OD (2.1) 1st. Crossman & Kennedy’s Moonshe Bumblebee. 2 year old black and tan with good head and eye. Acceptable angulation in front and rear construction. Good ribbing. Not quite the overall balance of the other 2 males today.
MPB (3.1) 1st. Kirkwood’s Helydon Quickstep Queeni. Pleasing head and good eye. Good length of neck into good shoulders. Reasonable front construction, would prefer slightly more ribbing but still only 7 months so may improve. Some rear drive. 2nd. Kirkwood’s Helydon Quizzical Quinnci. Feminine head, good eye. Slightly nervous today. Would prefer more size and angulation all through. Nice feet.
PB (6.1) 1st. Dance’s Emem Letty Bee. Nicely put together 10 month old wild boar puppy. Well balanced with good head and eye. Good front and rear construction and well ribbed. Course coat. Moved out well. Pleased to award BPB. 2nd. Mullen’s Rozelle With Love. 11 month brindle with good head and eye into good length of neck. Sound construction but not quite the rear angulation or overall balance of my 1st. Good course coat. 3rd. Kirkwood’s Helydon Quickstep Queeni.
JB (1) West’s Archidax Hocus Pocus. Feminine head, good neck into lovely front construction, good return of upper arm, rear construction matched front, leading to balanced movement with front and rear drive. Good course coat.
YB (1) West’s Archidax Hocus Pocus.
PGB (5) 1st. Blackvein Princess At Janacop. 2 year old black and tan with good head and nice length of neck. Good front construction. Good rear construction and drive. 2nd. Rozelle Kamiras Year. 2 year old brindle with lovely head and neck into sound front construction. Not quite the ribbing or rear drive of my 1st. 3rd. Kirkwood-Emery’s Helydon Oor Oakley.
LB (5) 1st. West’s Archidax Dark Phoenix. Lovely red 2 year old. Caught my eye. Good head and eye. Excellent shoulder placement and correspondingly good return of upper arm. Good ribbing and keel. Lovely rear construction. Balanced movement with both front and rear drive. Covered the ground with ease. Pleased to award BB & BOB. 2nd. Blackvein Princess At Janacop. (1st PGB) 3rd. Rozelle Kamiras Year.
OB (3) 1st. Kirkwood-Emery’s Helydon Nifty Nairn JW. 3 year old brindle with good head and dark eye. Nice length of neck into sound front construction. Good ribbing, short loin. Rear construction good. Course coat. Moved out well. Pleased to award RBB. 2nd Dance’s CH. Emem Constance Sunshine JW. Another 3 year old brindle with good head and eye. Lovely sound construction, good front and rear but not as settled today as my 1st. 3rd. Crossman & Kennedy’s Jantee Bee Forever.
