These should have been judged by Denise Courtney, I wish her well. It is some 10 years since I judged this breed & although small in number, the overall quality was high. My Critique may sound repetitive in places, heads were typical & dark pigmentation was apparent in every exhibit. The quality of my principal winners did not disappoint.

MPD (3) 1 Blackburn’s Stargang Crusoe, 6 months very promising baby, superb ring presence for one so young. Good head & dark oblique eye, reach of neck leading into well placed shoulders, super post sternum. Rib length, good depth of body & underline, well let down quarters, moved out well. BP; 2 Russell’s Russteck Beam Me Up Scotty, 6 months lovely head & dark eye, good reach of neck, a little shallow in forechest & short upper arm, ribbing good, well let down quarters although a little tall in hocks. Moved well; 3 Rathbone’s Brialinds Thomas. PD & JD (0). PGD (2) 1 Fulton’s Bothlyn Briadoon, 18 months, excellent conical head with dark oblique eye, good reach of neck, prominent forechest, well barrelled ribbing, laid well back, good underline leading into good quarters with short hocks that he used well on the move. CC & BOB, I am sure he will get his crown; 2 Waldie’s Bothlyn Symphony at Purslane, 18 months litter brother to 1. Good head & eye, reach of neck, not the front assembly or quarters of 1. LD (3) 1 Kugow & Holt’s Waldmeister Johnson, 18 months well balanced little dog, nice head & eye with dark pigment, good ear length, reach of neck & ribbing well let down, quarters moved well but outline distracted by tail carriage being held high; 2 Waugh’s Jolanda Oliver Sudden, good head & eye, reach of neck, shoulders forward placed on ribcage & short in upper arm underline. Good quarters well let down, moved out well; 3 Waldie’s Bothlyn Symphony at Purslane. OD (4) 1 Hassall’s Stargang Vegas Strip, well balanced dog, good head, oblique dark eye & ribbing, well placed topline & underline, good with strong let down quarters. Moved with verve RCC; 2 Waugh’s Jolanda Oliver Sudden; 3 Waldie’s Bothlyn Symphony at Purslane.

MPB (4) 1 Zenevieva’s Rioban Felt Finnish for Kmai, 9 months baby, very feminine head with dark eye, well placed shoulders, good spring of rib, topline & underline, good well let down quarters with nice short hocks, moved out well. One for the future; 2 Bigham’s Stargang Tipsy Trifle at Daisonville, 6 months litter sister to Stargang Crusoem, lovely head & eye, dark pigment with good ear placement & furnishings. Well balanced body although a little short in second thigh. Restricted hind movement; 3 Russell’s Rustec K Scotia. PB (6) 1 R Felt Finnish for K; 2 Stancliffe’s Standach Hurricane, 9 months, very feminine head & dark oblique eye, reach of neck good, slightly forward shoulders, ribbing adequate, underline good. A little short in second thigh, restricted hind movement; 3 Stephenson’s Bothlyn Indigo Blue at Wistex. JB (6) 1 Blackburn-Bennett’s Stargang Czarina, 12 months, lovely bitch very feminine head with dark oblique eye, well arched neck leading into good shoulder placement, topline good with well barrelled ribbing set well back. Well let down quarters which she used on the move, excellent ring presence & very mature for one so young. RCC, only missed out on top honour due to carrying a very dense long coat which distracted from the overall picture. I am sure she will get her crown; 2 Kelly Rioban Felt Finnish for Kmai; 3 Kugow & Holt’s Waldmeister Hattie. PGB (2) 1 McCloud & Hassall’s JanJac Mac Zeen, quality bitch, lovely feminine head with dark pigment, well developed forechest, good spring of rib, well let down quarters. Just needs to settle; 2 Holt, Kugow & Holt’s Stargang Vera Wang Bei Waldmeister, 14 months, typical wire haired head, good pigment & furnishings. Ribbing a little short, resulting in underline tucking up & short in second thigh. Although a very sturdy dog, well muscled, would think this lady is a working dog for which this breed is bred for. LB (3) 1 Holgate’s Nadavin Struana, very feminine lady, nicely balanced through out, good head, ribbing, topline & quarters, moved well; 2 Feetham’s Kimbleholme Solotaire, conical head & dark eye with good earset. A little shallow in forechest. Good underline & ribbing. Short in second thigh, restricted hind movement. OB (3) 1 Russell & Maxwell’s Russteck Perchance To Dream, a beautiful well balanced lady, lots to like about her, conical head, oblique dark eye, neck well arched, leading into well placed shoulders with good post sternum. Ribbing well sprung & laid back, good underline, well let down quarters with nice short hocks, kept her topline on the move. CC, continue to campaign her, I am sure she will gain her crown; 2 Stancliffe’s Tarkus Something Special at Standach, 19 months, lots to like about her, good head & eye, reach of neck, well ribbed, nice quarters, moved well.
