DACHSHUND - MINIATURE WIRE HAIRED

JD (1) 1 Jones' Shantallah Black Diamond Among Carlita. Strong masculine head. Nice eye and ear set. Sufficient neck leading into well alid shoulder. Would have liked more upper arm. Liked keel, last time I judged the breed I found this feature lacking so was delighted it was more of an area problem. Coat could do with a bit of work. Did not make the best of himself as was not very well behaved and gave his young handler problems. Do not know if she goes to training classes with him, but I am sure some intensive training would produce dividends. Moved true with rear drive. Res Best Dog.

PGD (2,1) 1 Baxter's Hotwire Didja Ever. Good masculine head with dark eye and well set ear. Nice keel. Level topline, but tail set a bit high. Good hind quarters. Moved well. OD (1) 1 Baxter's Kapodach Love Me Tender At Hotwire. Lovely little dog well balanced with a very pleasing head. Good coat well presented. Good reach of neck and well alid shoulders. Front angulation not too bad. Well ribbed. Good topline and tail set. Hind quarters good. Moved well with drive from rear. Best Dog & BOB.

PB (7,2) 1 Baxter's Hotwire All Shook Up. Very promising youngster. Head was feminine with dark almond eye and good ear set. Nice reach of neck and shoulders good. Front was the winner of the day with good keel and length of upper arm, which of course showed up on the move. Level topline and good tail set. Moved well. Best Bitch & Best Puppy. 2 Blackburn's Stargang Fudge Cake. Attractive youngster with a really good coat. Pleasing head and good feminine expression. Lost out to winner on upper arm. Good keel and rib. Topline good and so was the tail set. Liked the rear quarters. Moved well. 3 Stephenson's Berryruud Mrs Pepperpot.

JB (2,1) 1 Stephenson's Berryruud Mrs Pepperpot. Lovely little bitch who did not do herself any favours. I had the feeling she had her owner under her paws! Good coat but could be tidied up a bit about the head. Did not behave very well and what with the wind, just let herself down. Pleasing head with good eye and ear set. Sufficient neck and well ribbed. Topline Ok and hind quarters good. Moved well.

PGB (2,1) 1 Baxter's Metcroft Bitta Bling At Hotwire. Nice bitch who needed to be tidied up. Good head and neck but would have liked a little more upper arm. Good keel and rib. Topline level and good loin. Rear quarters were difficult to assess properly as did not make the best of herself on the move. Angulation was good but moved erratically. Res Best Bitch.

DACHSHUND - SMOOTH HAIRED

Such a windy day which got stronger as the day went on and this brought the temperature down. It did not seem to affect the standards, but some of the miniatures did not like it and were very hunched. I am sure that on a hot day some of the places could change for them. What I lacked in numbers I certainly had in quality.

JD (3,2) 1 Hunt's Cwmdarhian Hogan's Hero At Carpaccio. What a super dog! Standing alone could have appeared ordinary, but this 8 month youngster was a veteran as far as ring presence and had a freshness that his more experienced competitors lacked. Great size, well balanced with nothing exaggerated. Loved his well proportioned strong masculine head with roman nose, dark almond eyes, strong jaw with correct dentition. Ears well placed and mobile. Reach of neck with nice arch into a well laid shoulders. Front angulation was 90 degrees and upper arm was correct length and covered lowest part of keel. The rib was deep with lovely sweep of keel which when viewed from front, oval. The rib blended nicely into long loin. Upper thigh set at right angles to pelvis and hocks low and parallel. For his age the muscle tone was fabulous. Topline good and bone was strong. This dog was so sound on the move and true coming and going. His stride was long and had plenty of drive. This b/t was correctly marked and tan of rich colour. This is a most promising dog and I am sure he will go far. Best Dog & BOB.

OD (5,1) 1 Kerry's Ch Sontag Sir Cumference Of Kireton. Another lovely b/t with a lovely classic head with great dark almond eye, well set ears and strong jaw. Good reach of neck with arch. Shoulders well placed and front angulation correct. Bone excellent throughout and topline level. Well ribbed with correct sweep of keel. Moved well coming and going, with plenty of drive. Delightful dog and a worthy champion. Res Best Dog. 2 Hunt's Ch Lauralee Living Daylights At Carpaccio. Another well balanced quality dog with a super head. The winner had the slightly darker eye. Nicely set ears, strong jaw good neck into well laid shoulders. Correct angulation of 90 degrees fore and aft. Well muscelled, with strength in loin. Level topline. Good bone and lovely hind quarters. Moved free and true with drive. 3 Payton's Hampdach Gold Quest.

OB (1) 1 Hunt's Ch Lauralee Miss Chokky Wokey At Carpaccio. Lovely choc/tan bitch, well balanced with level topline. Although head was feminine, yet strong, it was not as classic as my BOB. Still a fabulous bitch the slightly lighter eye allowed for colour, good mouth and reach of neck. Angulation correct front and rear. Excellent front with lovely keel. Level topline. Strong bone and well muscled. Free mover with plenty of drive. Best Bitch.
