It was a pleasure to be asked to judge this variety again and I thank everyone for their entry. I must thank the stewards for their great help in moving the entry forward in a timely manner.

The problems I  found on judging miniature longs on previous occasions I am sad to say  are still within the breed which are weak pasterns and short keels. Another observation was that a number of the exhibits were rather toyish. In almost every case the dogs were beautifully presented. I was delighted to learn that my Best of Breed and Best puppy were half brothers proving that line breeding can produce stunning results.

Minor Puppy Dog (4)

1st Dalton & Beach, Llansansior Red at The Door, a beautiful dark clear red, well presented of beautiful type. Both front  and hind construction  were correct, which meant the movement was sound coming and going. Level topline presenting a correct outline in profile. ( RCC, Best Puppy in Breed )

2nd O’hare, Wilson & Wilson, Glenlogie Black Magic at Atikan, a black and tan with a lovely expression and correct coat. At just six months shows potential and I hope he fulfils it.

3rd Mr D & Mrs A  Aneke, Dachadam Red Rebel Reg

Puppy Dog (3)

1st Mrs K Drady,  Indiko Fire and Ice

2nd Dalton,  Llansansior on the Rocks

Both clear cream and very similar in type,  both needed to develop further in front. 1st had very good hind quarters 2nd not so sure yet. Both were well  presented  and in lovely condition.

 3rd Lawrence, Kyalozys Kingston Town

Junior Dog (3,1)

1st May, Scumptious Red on the Dot, a deep clear red with a lovely head, a good outline in profile and used his hindquarters well. Handled well to hist 1st place.

2nd  Fairchild, Restinim Mr Pip, a black and tan with good front and hind quarters which he used to good advantage,  very good spring of rib which made him look a little fat but kept his outline on the move.

Post Graduate Dog (2)

1st Morrin & Barbie, Zilcan Vanilla Ice fo Arlatdax JW, extremely well handled dog with a lovely front and length of ribbing, he moved well coming and going with a level topline which he held at all times. He was a good size and he thoroughly enjoyed his day out.

2nd Jury,  Christmas Cookie, a black and tan dapple with a good forechest and correct length of ribbing, moved well in front but not so strong in hindquarters but a good outline in profile.

Limit Dog (2,1)

1st Crow Drymoor Friars Luxury Among Martinks, very unsettled on the table, the owner explained that he was overcoming a scare on the table at a previous event. He recovered himself on the move and moved well both coming and going and in profile. Congratulations to his owner on helping him overcome his problem.

Open Dog (8,1)

1st Dalton & Beach Ch Zarcrest Red in the Room JW, Glorious and glamorous with an absolutely perfect front, beautiful head and expression, definitely male, perfect outline on the move with strong thrusting hindquarters. It was a pleasure to go over him. A great example of a standard in miniature!  My CC and BOB winner

2nd Wood, Ch Wildstar Washington,  a totally different type to above  but certainly true to his famous prefix and breeder. He had a lovely front and correct quarters, which he used on the move. Due to his correct  construction he held a good outline on the move  and responded well to his handler.

3rd Ham Minard Darque Red for Devondax

Veteran Dog (1,1)

Special Beginners (0)

Minor Puppy Bitch (2)

1st Lawrence, Kyalozys Moonlight Shadow, a black & cream and a total darling who I would have loved to have taken home. Correct front construction and true hind construction, her movement was correct front and aft because of correct construction, good length of ribbing which presented a correct outline in profile. She also had a lovely head and expression

2nd Aneke Dachadam Diver Damsel clear red , was all over the place which made it difficult to assess. I suggested to the owner that she goes to ringcraft class.

Puppy Bitch (4)

1st Bell, Indiko a Touch of Cream at Tolberg, a black and cream, outstanding for type, size and femininity, correct front construction matched by correct hind construction, with a beautiful outline which she showed to perfection in profile. Totally flat correct coat.

3rd Palin, Sanmik Last Girl

Junior Bitch (12,2)

1st Poole, Findowrie Elana Rose, black and tan and a true dachshund in miniature, lovely outline on the move, a true front resulting from the correct shoulder construction and  placement. Her hindquarters were also well constructed which resulted in lovely movement fore, aft. I really loved her and awarded her the BCC.

2nd Church, Chriskim’s Golden Ticket at Floxie, a gorgeous type, very feminine, lovely head and expression, a god outline on the move and sound coming and going, she was a picture when posed, a very attractive exhibit.
