DOGS

A bitter sweet day for me as I was originally due to judge last year.  The sad death if my husband meant that my appointment was transferred, and although I originally said that I would not be able to judge, I realised that Neville would have been extremely cross if I let people down for a second time.  Thank you everyone for your kindness and understanding on a difficult day.

My thanks to the committee for a very well run show, to my fellow judge Mrs Judy Squires who did the bitches, and to our very efficient steward Mr Ian Blackshaw.

I had some nice dogs to go over and I was very pleased with my winners.  I was surprised to find several bad mouths with misplaced teeth and bad bites.  Splayed, flat feet, weak pasterns and not enough length of neck were also problems and a couple were very difficult to assess on the table as they were so nervous.  Some of the dogs would have benefited from a good bath and a groom, there really is no excuse for this.

Veteran Dog (2 Entries)
1st: BROAD Neertanauf Sea Magic JW ShCM,

Very sound, elegant dog of 7 1/2 who carried his age well, beautiful head, sound front assembly and strong well angulated hind quarters.  Moved well keeping a beautiful Outline.  A True hound RBVIS
2nd: WHITFIELD-ROBERTS Ravenways Tornero at Dandydayo, A different type to 1 being smaller and more compact, but beautifully constructed all through and moving well.  I just preferred the sleeker outline of the winner.:

Minor Puppy Dog 2 (1)
1st: ALLAN Dolyharp Allegretto, Six months old, and still very much a baby, which showed in his later classes.  He is nicely made with good head and long ribbing, and moved well.  Just needs to body up and mature as the framework is there.

Puppy Dog 7(2)
1st:  PHILLIPS Summerview Yogi Bear, 10 month old chocolate with good head and reach of neck, long ribbing and nicely angulated all through.  Moved well keeping a good outline BPD
2nd: DRADY Indiko I Am the Music Man, Good shoulders, long ribbing, and well angulated strong hindquarters,  Moved with drive.
3rd: HUTTON Natali Victory Asmik to Dachalune (Imp Rus)

Junior Dog (1)
1st: HALL Cliffmere Patrick Sway Zee, Nicely made, elegant boy with a beautiful hound head.  good front assembly and sound hind quarters, but would have preferred longer ribbing.  Moved Well.
2nd: BREESE Silkdown Samson, Smaller more compact type.  Nicely made and moving well, but a little over coated for me, and I preferred the better reach of neck of the winner.
3rd:  METCALFE Metadale Ramesses

Yearling Dog 1
1st: MCCARTHY Nagshall Just Lucamac, Nicely constructed and well pigmented cream.  Lovely head and length of neck, long ribbing and strong hindquarters,  Moved soundly.

Post Graduate Dog 4
1st: HIGGINS Ralines Just Jewels, Smart Black and Cream boy with well laid shoulders and strong well sprung ribs.  Powerful well angulated hindquarters and sound movement,
2nd: BROAD Eldmour Sea Lord of Dinkidudlor, Elegant red with good hound head, long neck and correct front assembly.  Moved soundly, and with drive.
3rd: PITFIELD Luna Caprese D'Oroed' Argento of Follyfield:

Limit Dog 7
1st: BROOKS Obdax Lynn's Badger JW, Silver dapple masculine looking dog.  Nothing flashy about him but he is very nicely constructed, very sound in all departments and moved well.
2nd: DEAR Quested Creme Teddie, Cream boy. Good head and expression, long ribbing and sound movement, I preferred his tighter elbows to 3.
3rd:  PITFIELD Follyfield Farley's Fella

Open Dog 7
1st: WOOD Ch Wildstar Wrobinson JW, Well known champion that I have admired from ringside and I was not disappointed when I went over him.  Typical hound head and expression with good reach of neck and good shoulders.  He has long, well sprung ribbing with long sternum, correctly angulated hindquarters and a beautiful flat coat to finish the picture.  He moved with drive and elegance keeping a good profile at all times, and really covered the ground.  I was pleased to award him the CC, BOB with the agreement of my fellow judge and he was RBIS
2nd: BROOKS Ch Lyndarlea Just Andy JW, Another dog I've always admired.  Cream, well constructed, and well within the weight.  He has a good hound head, prominent Prostumum, long ribbing, and soundly made hindquarters.  I just felt that he looked a little sluggish in movement today.
3rd: EARLEY Yelva Mister Brandy Man

Special Open Black & Tan Dog 1
1st: WESTON & JOHNSON Galrhia Twice as Nice at Ecotyne, Alone, but deserved his placing.  Pleasing head, good front, well laid back shoulders and long well sprung ribbing.  Moved well.

Special Open Dapple Dog 3
1st: BROOKS Obdax Lynn's Badger JW
2nd: CONNEW Fenellafleur Zorro, Strong compact little dog, with good dapple markings.  Correct shoulders with tight elbows, long well sprung ribs and strong hindquarters, moved well.
3rd: PITFIELD Luna Caprese D'Oroed'Argento of Follyfield (Imp Ita):

Special Open Any Other Colour Dog 6

1st: ROBERTS Ch Ralines Rob Roy to Denver, Another dog that I've admired from ringside, and again, I was not disappointed when I went over him.  Compact and nicely constructed cream with correct dark pigment.  Prominent Prosturnum, well laid back shoulders, with correct length of upper arm, strong bone and long well sprung ribbing.  He has sound hindquarters which he used to advantage on the move. RCC.
2nd: MCCARTHY Nagshall Just Santana JW, Another lovely cream, a longer type to my winner.  He has a lovely head, good front construction, long ribbing and soundly made hindquarters.  Moved well.
3rd: PITFIELD Follyfield Farley's Fella

 Champion Dog 1

1st: BROOKS Ch Lyndarlea Just Andy JW

Bitches

Many thanks to the Longhaired Club for the invitation to judge the Miniature Long Bitches at their first Championship Show, in partnership with the Smooth Club which I understand was a great success for both Clubs and exhibitors. Also my thanks must go to my fellow judge Maureen Poole and our capable steward Ian Blackshaw. Since I last judged this variety I found the depth of quality greatly improved in the bitches. No large thin exhibits. All were well covered and within the correct weight, except for one rather plump exhibit, and most were of the required two to one length to height ration. As in some other varieties, ribbing could be longer, forechest more prominent (not just hair) and shoulders could have better placement. In some exhibits the shoulders were of the correct angles but the whole shoulder girdle was too far forward. Most feet and nails were well trimmed but some feet were down on their pasterns. Teeth were clean. What I did find unacceptable was that some dogs were not clean and my hands became very dirty during judging I have never had that before. Saying that, the quality exhibits were to the fore and were beautifully groomed and a credit to their owners and I was spoilt for choice in some classes. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and thank exhibitors for my entry. *VB *(6,1). 1. Drady's, Larkhund Russian Kween. 8 year old b/t shown in good condition and of good body proportions. Pleasing head, eye and front construction. Good rear angulation, firm topline standing and on the move. 2. Norris's, Xemxija Star Struck at Criscan. Well constructed 9 year old red in peak condition. Very little to choose between the top two Veterans. Similar remarks apply as to the winner. Moved soundly and enthusiastically but just lost her topline on the move, which was the defining factor. 3. Earley's, Rafthouse the Diva of Yelva. Good to see all the veterans enjoying a day showing. *MPB *(6,1). The first two puppies were born on the same day but Fur Elise had developed more quickly than Witchcraft. 1. Worswick's, Dolyharp Fur Elise. Attractive, well covered puppy with feminine head and dark eye. Good neck, shoulders and forechest and overall body conformation. Tight feet. Moved out well with her handler. Very promising. 2. Mitchell's, Bronia Witchcraft. Another promising young puppy with the same deep red coat as his sire, BOB Wood's Wildstar Wrobinson. She is still well covered with puppy fat but so well constructed underneath. Lovely head and eye. Well placed shoulders and firm topline. Correct angulation front and rear. As yet, didn't have the forechest development of my winner. Both moved out positively with their handlers for immature puppies. 3. Barnsdale and Hayward's, Barnsdale's Chriskims Fools Errand. *PB.* (4). Another class of promising puppies which augers well for the breed. I shall follow their progress with interest. 1. Whitfield-Roberts', Dandydayo I Am Mona. A 9 month old sound red puppy of good overall construction. Feminine head, dark eye, well placed shoulders and good front. Well covered body with good topline and underline. She moved out smoothly and with confidence keeping her outline. BP and RBPIS. 2. Drady's, Indiko Destined to be Cream. Well constructed 9 month old sh/cr puppy with a lot to offer but needs more time. Similar remarks apply as to the winner but, although moved well, she is a little wide in front at present and I also placed her second as I preferred the head of I am Mona. 3. Naden's, Llowdowndog the Viciferous for Marielle. *JB.* (8,1). Good class. 1. Geeson's, Abydachs Alohomora. Loved this youngster with unusual head markings. Everything put together in a neat package and beautifully presented. Lovely proportioned body, nothing overdone. Good front assembly, shoulders and ribbing. Unfortunately, unsettled in the challenge. 2. Bell's, Tolberg Cream Treat. Another attractive young lady who moved out freely and positively keeping her topline and good outline. Feminine head and dark eye and well constructed body proportions. A lot to offer. Just preferred the front assembly of Alohomora. 3. Brooks', Lyndarlea Speckled Hen. *YB*. (4). Difficult class, all different types. 1. Metcalf's, Metadale Ariadne. Feminine head and eye, good rear angulation. Would prefer a little more spring of rib but had a firm topline standing and on the move. Won this class on her positive movement. She covered the ground well. 2. McCarthy's, Nagshall Santa Amelia. Feminine head, good neck and well ribbed with tight elbows. Overall good outline which she kept on the move but not so well angulated or positive in rear movement as Ariadne. 3. Worswick's, Dolyharp Salut D'Amour. *PGB.* (5,1). 1. Rowell's, Emmajesk Masquerade JW. Attractive well boned cream with lovely feminine head and eye. Good reach of neck, shoulder placement and ribbing. Well angulated and a firm topline standing and moving. 2. Weston and Johnson's, Ecotyne Witchcraft. B/T with a lot to offer. Pleasing head and front assembly and well covered and proportioned body. Moved out well retaining firm topline but tended to collapse when stacked so didn't show herself off to the full. 3. Palin's T'Pol. *LB *(9,2). Quality class of lovely bitches. Close decisions. 1. Mitchell's, Bronia First Impression. Loved this red young lady. Great to go over as nothing was hidden as she had just sufficient coast which enabled me to see her pleasing outline standing and on the move. Attractive head and dark eye. Good reach of neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Well filled front and good topline with gentle sweeping underline. Correct front and rear angulation which she used to advantage when moving her good outline. Good feet. Well handled. Will follow her progress. CC and BOB. 2. Hall's, Cliffmere Levity. Another well handled and attractive sh/c with feminine head. Good reach of neck. Prominent forechest and correct shoulder placement and good feet. Lovely body proportions, good ribbing and front and rear angulation. She also drove around the ring keeping her outline. Although older, she looked immature compared with First Impression. Pressed hard for top honours. One to be proud of and I am sure her time will come. 3. Brooks', Lyndarlea Vienna. *OB.* (9,1). Another great class of quality bitches of the correct size. 1. Wood's, Ch. Wildstar Wynnona JW. Well known and beautifully presented and handled bitch. As they all are from this kennel with gleaming correct flat, deep red coat. Sister to Wrobinson the DCC and BOB winner. Lovely feminine head and eye. Good reach of neck, ribbing and overall body conformation. Very elegant on the move with a haughty disposition. Moved out smoothly and freely with her handler. One to be proud of and a worthy Chapion. A close decision for the ticket but preferred the forechest and rear angulation of First Impression. RCC. 2. Graham's, Devoncream Lily Luna at Jadag. A lot to like about this well constructed cr/brindle. Attractive head and eye with good pigment. Good reach of neck and front construction, shoulders and ribbing. A very feminine, workmanlike package. Well angulated but slightly higher in hock than the winner but covered the ground well. Just preferred the overall elegance and general outline of Wynnona. 3. Bell's, Tolberg Legally Blonde JW Sh CM. *SpO B/T B* (3). 1. Norris's, Criscan Khesia. 2. Weston and Johnson's, Ecotyne Firewith. 3. Jamieson's, Dinkidax Magsybabe to Djeata. The first two bitches have a lot to offer and were very similar in outline. Both had sound body conformation and good outlines standing and on the move. Good head, forechests and rear angulation. Khesia had a slightly better reach of neck which made her look more elegant. Both their toplines were firm standing and on the move and although they both moved soundly Khesia put more enthusiasm into her showing and movement which was the deciding factor with my placings. *SpO DAPPLE B* (4). 1. Dradys', Jumanda's Silver Sparkle at Indiko. Although she was 7 years old she was in good condition and moved out soundly and positively. Feminine head and good length of neck and well placed shoulders. Soundly made mature bitch. Would have preferred lower hocks to complete the picture. 2. Brooks', Lyndarlea Speckled Hen. Another well boned exhibit with attractive head, good neck, forechest and overall good body proportions. Moved out well but I found the longer hair at the base of her legs and on her feet very distracting in her overall good image. 3. Sigee's, Dinkidudlor Alicia Kalilu. *SpO AOC B* (4). 1. McCarthy's, Nagshall Cristobel. 2. Oxley's, Dinkidax Cyenna Satin JW. 3. Brooks', Lyndarlea Vienna. A close decision between the first two red exhibits. Cristobel a lighter shade of red and Cyenna a stronger red. Both well made bitches, but preferred head and eye of the winner who, although was a little fidgety when stacked, had a more purposeful movement overall. *ChB* (2). 1. Geeson's, Ch. Abydachs Absolutely. Another b/t from this kennel put down to perfection with a gleaming coat. Really lovely to go over and so well handled. A worthy Champion who was just two days under 7 years. Amazing. She looked beautiful and pressed hard in the challenge ut had to give way to the youngsters on the day. Thank you for bringing her out again for all to admire. Attractive well balanced bitch with good shoulders, forechest and front and rear angulation. Firm topline stacked and on the move. Moved out steadily and smoothly and with attitude. Well handled and presented. I hope we see her again. 2. Jamieson's, Ch. Djeata Spring Blossom
