DACHSHUND - MINIATURE LONG HAIRED

The weather did it's best to make life as difficult as possible for the organisers and exhibitors alike. I really can't see the logic in judging long legged breeds in the comfort of the hall, and short legged coated breeds in soggy outside rings. By noon most of the ring was under water, leaving a dry 6' strip. I felt the bitches in particular with some large classes, were at a distinct disadvantage in such a tiny space, the conditions were not conducive to an enjoyable experience, although most exhibitors stayed cheerful. The damp conditions certainly highlighted any thin flat feet! Later bitch classes were judged under very trying conditions, and the main winners will probably change places on another day, movement was almost impossible to assess in the limited space, so outline and balance became of utmost importance. I did penalise weak underjaws, although forgave the odd misplaced tooth. I felt the males had the edge overall today.

MPB
(6) 1 & BP, McCarthy's Nagshall Walking in the Sun, very attractive shaded cream, nicely balanced throughout, sweet head and lovely pigment, masculine but without coarseness, decent neck and forehand, good keel and adequate ribbing, well held topline and good tail carriage, well padded feet, sound and free on the move. 2 Cooper's Jumanda's Rafferty, b/t, attractive outline,  nice head and dark well shaped eye, adequate neck and forehand, good ribbing and topline, close up, but not quite the freedom of 1 on the move. 3 Oxley's Dinkidax Goodsoul.

PD
(4) 1 N Walking in the Sun. 2 Barnsdale & Hayward-Barnsdale's Chriskims Dreamcaster, bl/cr of masculine outlook, balanced outline and good proportions, attractive head and expression, moved out well, just not quite the ribbing or neck of 1. 3 Brooks Lyndarlea Rustic.

JD
(6,1) 1 Brown's Garbosa Garfield, attractive sh/r/br, masculine dog of good balance and outline, lovely head  and dark well shaped eye, decent neck, fair keel and ribbing, liked his topline and tail set, lovely thick padded feet, moved out well using his hocks. 2 Shutt's Donnydax Secret Dream of Donnadoon, lovely cream, most attractive head and eye, loved his expression, good neck and keel, excellent overall shape and balance, sadly not enjoying his day out. 3 Bedford's Dinkidudlor Jankay Hooray.

YD
(4,2) 1 Broad's Neertanauf Sea Magic, sh/r, good head with nice dark eye, decent neck and shoulder, could have better return of upper arm, fair ribbing and good topline, tends to pin a tad in front. 2 Johnson's Charpurdy Gold McNugget, sweet b/t, nice outline, stands on good feet, not quite the head of 1, would like a little more length of neck, moved ok in front, throws his hind feet out going away, which could well be his objection to the damp conditions.

GD
(3,1) 1 J. Rafferty. 2 Oxley's Dinkidax Jack Flash, b/t with good head and expression, stands on well padded feet, good topline and quarters, just not quite the neck and forehand of 1, untidy in front on the move.

PGD
(7,1) 1 Cawley & King's Summerview Make Way for Roo, attractive shaded red  of pleasing proportions, good headpiece, decent neck,  ribbing and topline, in excellent coat, would like a little more freedom of movement in front. 2 Pitfield's Follyfield Firecracker, bl/cr, appealing head and expression, nicely balanced overall, fair ribbing and keel, good topline and tail set, just failed slightly in neck to 1. 3 Brook's Lyndarlea Latte.

LD
(10,2) 1 Fsadni's Rugosa Saint Barnabus, very attractive sh/cr, sweet head and lovely soft  expression from dark well shaped eyes and excellent  pigment. Good overall balance and proportions, best forehand construction in the class, excelled in shoulder placement and length of upper arm, giving a good keel and freedom and precision on the move, lovely well padded feet. 2 Bedford's Garbosa simply Splendid of Dinkidudlor, choc of pleasing balance and outline, good head properties, adequate neck and good ribbing, held his topline on the move, not quite the forehand of 1, toes in a little coming towards. 3 Wilson's Dinkidax Wild Thing of Willott.

OD
(4) Little to separate the first three. 1, CC & BoB, Ch Galrhia Icing on the Cake, and today he lived up to his name. Very attractive choc dapple in lean hard condition and excellent coat. Presents a balanced outline, scored heavily in forehand construction, lovely outline standing and on the move. Attractive head with soft yet masculine expression, reachy neck and clean shoulder, excellent keel and length of upper arm, well ribbed back into strong loin and excellent hindquarters, his sound free movement on excellent feet completed the picture for me. 2 RCC, Wood's Ch Wildstar Wrenowned JW, another sound free moving dog of lovely breed type, he scores in outline and movement, sweet head and expression, good topline and ribbing, just felt 1 had the edge in forehand assembly. Having said that, he is no slouch in this department, moving out soundly and freely on lovely well padded feet. 3 Brooks Ch Lyndarlea Raferty JW, completed a trio of quality exhibits.

MPB
(6) 1 Gallagher's Ridgegrove Romance at Galrhia, appealing b/t out of the top drawer for breed type, loved her head, gorgeous expression, good neck, keel and ribbing, lovely free mover, topline just needs to settle on the move. I see she is the daughter of my BoB, very promising prospect. 2 Ryan & Cheras' Cheniesvilla Helen of Troia, another pretty b/t presented in gleaming coat, sweet head and expression, but not quite the impact of 1. Nicely balanced, good topline and quarters, sound free mover. 3 Skinner's Galaxy Supa Starlet.

PB
(6) 1 Halsall's Tasty Brew, shapely br of good breed type, balanced outline, attractive head and expression, well ribbed back so she  excelled in topline and quarters, moved soundly and freely on excellent feet. 2 Wilson's Willott Dancing Diva, close up to 1, pretty dapple, lovely head and dark eye, good overall shape and balance, not quite the scope in forehand of 1, appealing for type and size. 3 G. Supa Starlet.

JB
(11) 1 Hall's Cliffmere Special Edition, sh/red of lovely type in good coat, liked her head and expression, a nice type of feminine bitch who scored in overall outline, good neck and well laid shoulder. Lovely free easy mover, correct topline held on the move. 2 Cawley & King's Little Miss Honeybun for Summerview, paler red of good proportions, lots to like, attractive head and expression, lovely profile movement, not quite the forehand assembly of 1. 3 Halsall's Kiddles Psalm.

YB
(6,3) 1 Connew's Fenellafleur Boudica, another very attractive dapple who excelled in type and balanced proportions. Very sweet feminine head and  lovely expression. Reachy neck, well laid shoulder and good length of upper arm, well pronounced keel and good length of ribbing which showed in her well held topline and free sound movement on well padded feet. 2 Green's Neertanauf Lucia Rijker, b/tan, feminine outlook, sweet head and expression, good length and topline, not quite the reach of neck or forehand of 1, but moved out well on good feet. 3 Duke's Chriskims Truly Yours.

GB
(6,2) 1 F Boudica. 2 Norris' Criscan  Karess, sh/red built on long lines, attractive head and appealing expression from dark well shaped eyes. Decent neck and shoulder, touch short in upper arm, moved freely holding her topline, a touch loose in front. 3 Duke's Chriskims Truly Yours.

PGB
(9,2) 1, RCC Norris' Chriscan Khesia, attractive b/tan, sweet feminine head with good expression, reachy neck and well laid shoulder, good keel and length and depth of ribbing, excellent quarters. Lovely overall shape and make, her free sound movement earned her this place. 2 Holmes Tammera Just Elegant, sh/red who lives up to her name, attractive head piece with dark well shaped eyes, good ribbing, topline held on the move, lovely neat well padded feet, just felt 1 had the edge in length of neck, well balanced exhibit. 3 Pitfield's Follyfield Florence.

LB
(10,4) a rather disappointing class. 1 McCarthy's Nagshall Puppet on a String JW, most attractive cream with  lovely head, super dark eye and lovely pigment giving a soft feminine expression. Adequate front, good ribbing, topline well held on the move, an enthusiastic mover who forgot her tail carriage once or twice. 2 Murphy's Classidax Follow the Dream, b/tan who scores in type and overall appeal. Not quite the stunning head of 1, but of good proportions. Adequate front assembly, well held topline, good quarters used on the move. 3 Norton's Hanluke Sheer Magic.

OB
(10,2) 1, CC, Wood's Wildstar Wreflection, half sister to the DRCC winner, and many of the same comments apply. Appealing feminine head, lovely dark well shaped eye and good width of underjaw. Reachy neck, scores in outline and balance, ribbing and keel. Moved out well in profile  with excellent  drive and extension, on well padded feet, tail carriage a little untidy at times, but scored in breed type. 2 Cooper's Jumanda's Silver Moonlight, another attractive exhibit, sports a lovely head and expression, she scored heavily in type and outline. Good forehand and reach of neck, excelled in length of ribbing,  lovely topline held well on the move. 3 Norris' Xemxija star Struck at Criscan.
