DACHSHUND - MINIATURE LONG HAIRED

I  would like to thank the Officer and committee for inviting me to judge. I have  found a deteriation in the breed since I have last judged them at the  Longhaired Anniversary Show. Heads vary now tremendously. Where are the conical  shaped skulls? Eyes need improvement, I thought so many exhibits had round  bulbus eyes that really detract from the look and give them a strange  expression. What has happened to the lovely almond shape eyes with lovely dark  rims? Pigmentation takes a lot to be desired theses days. Pigmentation should  be black except in chocolates. Noses are a vast array of colours and toe nails  varied from pink to black, but for me a dark nail is what we should be looking  for. Cutting nails short does not hide the colour. I did find many exhibits  upright and forward in the shoulder, too many had weak and flat pasterns. On  the plus side, mouths were very good and no dirty teeth. All were presented in  excellent coats that were clean, although some had wooly curly coats which did  detract from there appearance. I did not find any too thin that I felt was an  issue but as a smooth haired breeder and exhibitor for me I would personally  like a little more covering over the body. A coat hides a lot of things, were  as with a smooth, what you see is what you get. For me personally a dog will  find its ideal weight for the show ring. No exhibit should be starved or kept  thin. Dogs are like humans they will be varying sizes. In this modern day the  way we feed has changed and now we have Premium foods which give excellent  results. Afterall it is only a guideline of 11lbs being a little over is just  another fault and not a disqualifing fault.

PD
(5) 1 Broad's Neertanauf  Sea Magic. Smart shaded red dog masculine head well arched neck super front  moved out well, well handled to get the best out of him BPD. 2 Brooks'  Lyndarlea Latte. Chocolate correct front and shoulders, well sprung ribs,  covers the ground well but for me I would like a more masculine head. 3  Johnson's Charpurdy's Gold McNugget.

JD
(7, 3) 1 Holmes' Tammera Touch Of  Class. Smart Red, I felt he had the best front of this mixed class, scores well  for breed type, covers the ground with ease. 2 Lockett-Walters &Walters'  Ralines Here Comes The Sun. Heavier built red than first, kept a good outline  at all times, sympathetically handled to get the best out of him. 3 Poole's  Findowrie Mr McDuff.

PGD
(4, 1) 1 Barrow's Zarcrest Dancing On Ice To  Frankanwen. Smart shaded black and cream, he did not disappoint on handling  him, masculine head without coarseness, well arched neck, correct well filled  front, well sprung ribs, level topline, which he kept at all times, moved out  with great style and purpose, pleased to award him CC. Hair splitting decision  for BOB. 2 Brooks' Lyndarlea Bubbles. Chocolate dapple, pleasing head and well  arched neck, but I preffered the front assembly of the winner, moved out well.  3 McCarthy's Nagshall Oklahoma Sunrise.

LD
(4) 1  Robet's Ravenways Tornero At Dandydayo. B/t,  had the best front extension of the class, pleasing head, well arched neck,  level topline, nice hindquarters, covered the ground with ease. 2 Brooks'  Lyndarlea Raferty. Shaded Cream, nice to go over, correct well filled front,  but prefered front extension of winner on the move. 3 Farmer's Jenwood Shady  Spot.

OD
(4, 2) 1 Gallagher's Galrhia Icing On The Cake. Chocolate dapple  who I have admired from the ringside. Pleasing to go over, correct conical head  and almond eye. Well filled oval front, beautifully marked coat, moved out with  style and purpose, pleased to award RCC. 2 Poole's Findowrie City Slicker.  Different type to winner, smart red who looked a picture on the move, keeping a  clasic outline. For me I would just like a little more of him.

VD
(1) 1  Worswick's Ch Dolyharp Don Basilio JW. A dog I have always admired and he never  disappointed him on handling. Masculine head without coarseness, well arched  neck, well filled front, came into his own on the move, presented in first  class order.

MPB
(3) 1 Graham's Jadag Felicity Fornton. Smart black and  tan, the most together in the class, my notes say stunning, she must have a  bright future. Feminine head with sweet expression, well arched neck, correct  well filled front, moves keeping a good outline a all times.Pleased to award  her BP, pressed hard for the RCC. 2 Brooks' Lyndarlea Dream Boat. Pretty b/t,  very immature, has everything in the right place and will give first a run for  her money, but needs time to mature to finish the picture. 3 Murphy's Classidax  Silver Seraph.

PB
(4) 1 Poole's Findowrie Rings N Roses. Attracrtive red,  sweet head and expression, best outline in this class, beautiful feet moved out  well. 2 Norris' Criscan Karess. Very immature baby, scores well in all  departments, moved out well, but just needs to strengthen in topline. 3 Green's  Neertanauf Lucia Rijker.

JB
(7) 1 Norton's Halunke Dream Maker. Pretty  bitch ,looks a picture moving and standing, lovely oval well filled front, well  sprung ribs, nice hindquarters, moved with purpose. 2 Shutt's Longort Cassie  Royale Of Donnadoon (Imp). B/t, you have to handle her to appreciate her lovely  movement, just needs to settle and mature to finish the picture, one for the  future. 3 McCarthy's Nagshall Wings Of Love.

PGB
(4, 1) 1 McCarthy's  Nagshall Wings Of Love. Shaded cream, best mover in this class, kept a good  outline at all times. 2 Norton's Halunke Sheer Magic. Smart b/t, lacked the  front and rear extension of winner, needs time to mature. 3 Murphy's Classidax  Follow The Dream.

LB
(6, 1) 1 Boyle &Blackburn-Bennett's Zarcrest Ice  On Fire. Cream, pleasing head with sweet expression, well arched neck into  correct well placed shoulders. Lovely front, well sprung rib, excellent  toplline which she kept at all times. Well angulated hindquarters which gave  thrust on the move. Expertly handled and presented to get the best out of her,  pleased to award her BCC and a tough BOB over her brother, congratulations.  Looked fabulous in the Group. 2 McCarthy's Nagshall Pup-pet On A String JW.  Lovely cream, another out of the top drawer, very similar to first but with a  little less ground clearance. Pleased to award her RCC. 3 Green's Eldmour  Electra.

OB
(6, 1) 1 Graham's Ch Hillstar Lexzina Of Jadag. Heavy coated  b/t bitch, you have to handle her to appreciate her, not the most glamourous of  show girls, but for me I would like a little more upperarm to finish the  picture. She moves round the ring like a train, well handled to get the best  out of her. 2 Shutt's Chocolate Enchantress Of Donnadoon. C/t different type to  winner, sweet head and expression, correct front and shoulder, moved out with  great style but prefered outline of winner on the move. 3 Norris' Xemxija Star  Struck At Criscan.
