MINIATURE LONGHAIRED

I thank the exhibitors for their entry of 63 dogs, and I judged on the assumption they presented an accurate representation of the breed at this point in time. Exhibits behaved well on the table, presentation was good, teeth clean, nails appropriately short. Sadly, not all had correct feet, arched toes were in the minority! I expressed concerns for the breed after judging them at Crufts 2007. My concerns expressed then remain the same. Movement is still unsatisfactory, due to poor shoulders and hindquarters. Adequate ground clearance is questionable. The revised Breed Standard clearly defines the proportions for the correct size, and it was the dogs which met the criteria that were selected for the principal awards. It is a variety of Dachshund I have always admired and I hope that exhibitors who hold the interest of the breed paramount to their partisipation in showing will address the causes highlighted in the Breed Standard. There is still a long way to go before it can be said a significant majority of dogs meet the Standard.

MPD(6, 1) 1 Cawley &King’s Summerview Make Way For Roo. Lovely shaded red, correct size and sound movement, showed himself with confidence and to his advantage. RCC and BP. 2 Halsall’s Kiddles The Maestro. B/t, pleasing when on the table and a delight to watch on the move. 3 Oxley’s Dinkidax Wild At Heart.

PD
(5) 1 Cawley &King’s Summerview Make Way For Roo. 2 Pitfield’s Follyfield Firecracker. Nice puppy with lots of promise. 3 Halsall’s Kiddles Sibelius.

JD
(4) 1 Renton &Brown’s Garbosa Catcha Moonbeam. Red, lovely head, nice length, level topline, both moving and standing. 2 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Bubbles. Choc/tan, presented a good overall picture, not ‘showing off’ as well as the first. 3 Holden’s Sengepabu Dark Thunder.

YD(4)1 Renton &Brown’s Garbosa Catcha Moonbeam. 2 Cooper’s Jealroie Sir Percival At Jumanda. Red, very nice to see standing and go over on the table, delight to watch on the move. 3 Woodage’s Totonian Toscanini.

PGD(4) 1 Holden’s Sengepabu Saint Valentine. Red, everything to like about this dog, head, reach of neck, body size and movement. 2 Renton &Brown’s Garbosa Catcha Moonbeam. 3 Pitfield’s Andynromadax Dave Of Follyfield.

LD
(5, 1) 1 Poole’s Findowrie City Slicker. Lovely red, sound movement, very nice. 2 Kennedy’s Denkena’s Solar Storm. B/t, showed well on the table, just preferred first on the move. 3 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Atlantica.

OD(8) 1 Brown’s Ch Am Ch Rafthouse Raising Hell At Garbosa JW (Imp). Choc/tan, eyecatching on the table, impressive on the move. CC and BOB. 2 Cawley &King’s Creekpit Black Opal At Summerview JW ShCM. B/t, lots to like about this dog, he ticked all the right boxes, unfortunate to meet the first on the day, very nice indeed. 3 Poole’s Findowwrie Skye Lord.

MPB(4) 1 Kennedy’s Denkena’s Blae Berry. Pleasing to the hand when on the table, pleasing to the eye on the move. RCC. 2 Welton’s Chelane Creme Brulee. Like the first, lots to like, by the same sire as the third. 3 Poole’s Findowries Creme Caramelle.

PB(6, 1) 1 Pitfield’s Follyfield Florence. B/t, lovely outline, good bone, nice coat, lots to like, very nice. 2 Kerslake’s Devonwood Lady Alexandra. Similar to first, did not show to advantage. 3 Rees’ Yumares Tabitha.

JB(1) 1 Burr’s Zara Rose. Standing alone, still worthy of this place.

YB(3) 1 Bell’s Tolberg Holly’s Little Tilly. B/t, pleasing, sound movement, good bone, very good outline, eye catching. 2 Oxley’s Dinkidax Rose Orchid. Similar remarks to first apply, however would have preferred more bone. 3 Cooper’s Jumanda’s Holly Berry.

PGB(5, 2) 1 Woodall’s Rarewood Charlentina. Shaded red, nice movement, covered the ground with ease, showing off a lovely outline to advantage. 2 Middleton’s Medlicott Silver Dance Away. Dapple, similar in type to the first, did not show herself to advantage. 3 Burr &Abbott’s Burrdach Any Dream Will Do.

LB
(7, 2) 1 Johnson’s Charpurdy Just Iss. B/t, good head, topline sound, movement very nice. 2 Hellens’ Andynromadax Alanna At Lynbain. B/t, similar type to the winner, on the day I preferred firsts overall picture. 3 Kennedy’s Denkena Vivaldi.

OB
(6) 1 Brown’s Ch Garbosa Chocolate Vogue. Choc/tan, sound movement, good bone, lovely outline, worthy champion. CC. 2 Shutt’s Chocolate Enchantress Of Donnadoon. Choc/tan, slightly smaller. 3 Jamieson’s Djeata Cosmopolitan.

Good Citizen B
(1) 1 Burr &Abbott’s Burrdach Any Dream Will Do.
