MINIATURE LONG HAIRED

I very much enjoyed my first judging assignment in this variety. I must excuse the rather shorter description of the dogs in this report, as my Dictaphone unfortunately picked up so much background noises as to make it almost impossible to hear.

PD (6, 1 abs.) 1. Farmer’s Jenwood Shady Spot. Red dog of 7 months, of lovely size and with a very nice outline, which he held well on the move. Very nice head and expression, good quarters. Moved very well. 2. Kiddles Tyree. Cream dog of very nice outline, rather more heavily boned. Again, a nice head and expression, well angulated quarters. Well ribbed back. Another good mover. 3. Findowrie Skye Lord.

JD (4, 1 abs) 1. Barnsdale’s Chriskim Ray or Starlight. Nicely masculine red dog of 15 months, very well finished all over. Beautiful head and expression. Very good forehand, firm over the topline. Free purposeful mover. 2. Corrinbar Blue Moon. Dapple dog of lovely size and colouriug. Sweet head and expression. Nice topline. Moved well enough here. 3. Arbroath Lord of Strathspey.

PGD (6) 1. Farmer’s Jenwood Summer Solstice. Very classy b&t dog who scores on his free purposeful movement. Very nice head, well angulated forehand, chest well ribbed back, stood up well on his wide strong hindquarters. 2. Wildhatch Cropston Boy of Dinkidax. Brindle dog, with rather shorter body proportions and a strong head; he scores on his very free driving movement and strong topline. 3. Timshaws Storm Keeper.

LD (6) 1. CC. Norton’s Halunke Just Jervis. Just wonderful young red dog of lovely type and with a look of quality about him. Beautiful head and expression, Very good neck well set into shoulders, smooth over the well angulated forehand, firm topline, stands up well on his hindquarters. Smooth and free mover. 2. Findowrie Man About Town. Very nice red dog with a nice outline. Nice enough head, nicely angulated, rather more forward set forequarters. Firm topline, stands up well on his hindquarters. Free mover. 3. Lyndarlee Earth Tremor.

OD (9, 3 abs) 1. and res, CC. pale red dog of lovely type, with the maturity that age brings, a quality dog. Love his outline and his head, scores on his smooth neckset, nice ribbing, good topline, not the firmness of forehand of the eventual CC winner. Free ground covering action. 2. Lyndarlee Choc Ice. Choc&tan dog presented, as all from this exhibitor, in wonderful firm muscular condition. Rather more cobby in outline, with more upright neck carriage, making for a proud expression. Nicely angulated, smoothly muscled forehand, firm topline, more medium angulation of hindquarters, where he stood wide and strong. Nice mover. 3. Ch.Dolyharp Don Basilio, quality dog, today in his winter coat.

PB ( 3, 1 abs) 1 and best puppy Palin’s Gigi Ginger of Sanmik. Very nice red puppy, well forward for her age. Nice head, very nice forequarters, and smooth over the elbows, Very good topline, held well on the move. Nice wide hindquarters. Moved very freely and well. 2. Scandell’s Hot Date at Hanishan. Very dark brindle baby of just 6 months; good head, although rather strong over the skull. Firm topline, but stands rather high over the rear quarters, surely a growth stage.

JB (9, 1 abs) 1. Barnsdale’s Chriskim Ice Maiden. Shaded red bitch of very nice type and outline, I note a sister to the winner of Junior dog. Scores on her lovely head and outline, Nice over the neck and front, well ribbed back, firm topline and stands up well on her hindquarters. Moved very well. At just 12 months just a baby still, but I find her just right for her age and most promising. 2. Ridgegrove Halle Berry. Another lovely young bitch, b&t, beautifully presented; in a slightly larger mould. Nice head, of larger proportions than winner, but suiting her body. Well angulated, clean front, very good topline. Excellent free mover. 3. Jumandas Black Magic.

PGB (12, 3 abs) 1. Johnson’s Charpurdy’s Star Turn. Light red bitch of very nice type, won this class on her overall balance and lovely outline. Nice head, rather round over the skull, lovely neck smoothly set into shoulders, lovely hindquarters. Smooth effective mover. 2. Garbosa’s Tilly the Tinker at Jumanda. Very nice b&t bitch, with a very nice head, nice neck, rather more forward set forehand, very good ribbing and firm topline. Strong over the hindquarters. Free mover. 3. Timshaw’s Majic Dragon.

LB (7, 3 abs) 1. Norton’s Halunke Just Jessica. Charming b&t bitch of lovely type, and one who really was absolutely right under your hands. Lovely head, smooth neckset, well angulated, clean front. Firm topline, strong nicely angulated hindquarters. Very free effective mover. Strongly considered for the res. CC and I note a sister to the dog CC winner. 2. Sanmiks Servern of Nine. Very nice b&t bitch, with a lovely outline and a lovely free mover. Nice head, rather stronger over the skull, nice coupling and firm over the topline. 3. Jumanda’s Lily.

OB (4, 1 abs) 1, CC and Best of Breed. Goddard’s Ch. Minard Krystal Darque. What a lovely example of the breed, this b&t bitch is in full maturity ( and one has to remember that hounds only get better with age!) and so well presented to show off all her wonderful qualities. Lovely outline and type, wonderful feminine head with lovely eye placement. Clean over the neck and front with smooth neckset, firm topline, well ribbed back, well angulated firm rear quarters. Wonderful free action. Such a pleasure to have the opportunity to go over her! 2. res. CC. Corrinbar Blue Angel. Beautiful three year old silver dapple bitch with a lovely outline. Another who scored on her exquisite feminine head, good neck, lovely frontquarters, firm over the topline, nicely angulated hindquarters. Very nice smooth mover, but without the verve of the winner. Lovely type. 3. Arbroath Lady Hannah.
