Miniature Long Haired

A most enjoyable day. Thanks to Claire Bethel and Lesley Patton for keeping things moving. The males are still ‘patchy’ but their was plenty of good bitches to choose from. Some v promising young girls present. Presentation was v good throughout, in general I found front construction has improved. Hind angulation and drive still has a long way to go. Two things that you can not see from the ring side are mouths and tails. I am not a mouth fanatic but I had some that not just had the odd tooth out of place but were either ‘rye’ or overshot. I must admit that teeth were clean. I found more ‘kinky’ tails in this entry than in any other entry that I have judged before. Looking back through my notes that are made on every d the most common fault was lack of hind drive, many ‘tummy’ tappers, I know some dogs can tighten up when moving on slippy sports hall surfaces and judging outside can change matters but you have to judge on the day and place accordingly. The PB and JB classes pleased me so much for quality, which is gd. I was pleased with the entry numerically especially as it was the day after the Long Haired LWB Ch Show. Secretary Caris Moore and President Jane Naylor along with their hard working committee really know how to keep things flowing and after a long weekend we had an early finish. I was pleased to see my BOB go onto BIS under Mrs Winchurch, Ch Ralines Royal Statesman is my ideal Miniature Long, full of breed type and can only do this breed some gd. I love to see the elegance in this variety just as I do in the longs and in general coats were gd, not overdone with plenty of feathering in the right places. It is hard to be consistent with type in the males but my final b line up was ‘typy’. You can only judge to what you see on the day and my final winners did please me greatly. My only hope is that this variety is soon blessed with a strong of more quality males to match the many quality bitches that are around. Good luck. MPD (2). 1 Welton’s Chelane Casper Carrot.
