Dachshund (Miniature Long Haired)

Judge: Steven Lund

The standard of most exhibits on show was good. My winners all excelled in sound movement, reflecting good shoulders and hindquarters. Points to watch are: Smaller exhibits tend not to have a typical Dachshund head; weak hindquarters (lack of muscle) are to be found; front movement was good, however, feet are poor (hare feet) and turn out excessively.

MPD (2) 1 Croxford’s Sandwells Cardinal at Arbroath. Lovely red, nice angulation standing and moving. Good forequarters and hindquarters. Son of my DCC winner. 2 Brown’s Devoncream Raffles. Very much a youngster, needs time. Prefeered the topline of the winner on the move. Two promising youngsters, lots to like about them both.

PD (1) 1 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Digby Boy. Stood alone - apity. However, deserved the red card. A worthy winner.

JD (4) 1 Graham’s Jadag Brookbond. Lovely b/t. Nice outline standing and moving. Good head, well shown. Hopefully will mature into a top class exhibit. Needs to carry a little more body to complete the picture. Res CC. 2 Cooper’s Gayvilles Northern Lad at Jumanda. Similar in type to the winner. Preferred the movement of the winner. 3 Brooks’ Rhinestar Phoenix at Lyndarlea.

PGD (3) 1 Johnson’s Charpurdy Sir Lancelot. A real little star. Lovely shoulders and nice hind action. Level topline standing and moving. Lots to like - very nice indeed. 2 Brooks’ Maundowne Mutineer at Lyndarlea. Similar in type to the winner, lots to loike, just not the showmaship of the winner. Good luck to you both. 3 Heiser’s Polinard Dalemaine.

LD (4) 1 Croxford’s Arbroath Mr Mackinnin JW. A shaded red with lots of quality. Very free and sound movement, emphasised his correct conformation. Showed well. More than pleased to award him the CC. 2 Priestley’s Hillstar Chancery Charmer. Lots to like about this chap also. Howver, preferred the head of the winner. 3 Brooks’ Quitrutec Half Day at Lyndarlea.

OD (4) 1 Bedford’s Ch Rhinestar Hunky Dory. Shaded red, nice shoulders and good hindquarters. Level topline and good movement. A worthy Champion. 2 Strachan’s Bronia Fusilier of Calderpark. Lovely b/t. Preferred the movement of the winner. 3 Dunn’s Ch Ashridge Private Ryan.

MPB (4) 1 Bainbridge’s Lynbain Lady Lulu. Shaded red, not very happy on the day, but her potential shone through. Good luck. 2 Brown’s Devoncream Tiff in a Teacup. Nice movement. 3 Liddle’s Roleta Woops A Daisy for Morali.

PB (6) 1 Mack’s Topgem Louisa May. B/T. Lovely free flowing movement. Level topline standing and moving. Lovely head, surely one with a bright future. Pleased to award her the Best Puppy and Res CC. 2 Stagg’s Toscanelli Intermezzo. Similar in type to the winner. Lost on the day to the winner on movement. 3 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Brown Bear..

JB (4) 1 Browbn’s Northnook Ellie May at Garbosa. Choc/tan and the star of the day. Lovely free flowing movement, correct forequarters, shoulders and legs and feet. Rump round and well muscled, good drive from hindquarters. Lovely coat and well presented. CC and Best of Breed. 2 Mack’s Topgem Louisa May. 3 Priestley’s Hillstar Maxzina.

PGB (11) 1 Bainbridge’s Lynbain Lady Liza. Good class. B/T, a real little mover. Similar type with everything in the right place. 2 Stagg’s Mertnabbot Monique. B/T. Same remarks apply, finer boned. 3 Johnson’s Charpurdy New Dawn.

LB (10) 1 Bedford’s Chriskim Dinki Deedle Dee of Dinkidudlor. Red, presented a very good overall impression both standing and moving (nice hind action and firm drive). A nice win in a good class. 2 McLachlan’s Gayvilles Specially for You. B/T, lots to like. Won this good placing on her sound movement. 3 Lamb’s Howrigg Tar Baby.

OB (5) 1 Bedford’s Diquest Chocolate Eclair of Dinkidudlor. Another nice exhibit from this owner. Lovely movement, very sound throughout and showed well. 2 Blackshaw’s Minard She’s A Peach at Ravenways. Clear red, challenged gard for top spot. Lots to like. 3 Kennedy’s Denkenas Ben Lora.
