Thank you for this above average entry here at the SKC. A very much mixed entry indeed for type. In my view this variety should simply be a miniature replica of their cousins the smooths.I awarded my first set of CC’s to Dachshunds in 1993 East of England and that was L/H and M/L and since then have continued to do all six varieties and in all that time I have never had cause to withhold any award from any variety. Sadly today I felt I had to take the unfortunate decision to do so and I can assure you I was not happy in going so and you all can be reassured it could not have been “predicted” and the same goes for all my main winners!
PD (7) All present. 1 Moes & Williams, Cwmdarhian Ragnbone Man, Red. Yet another quality youngster from this this successful breeder/exhibitor. Instant attraction on entering the ring. On inspection his head is of the correct conical shape with dark eye which gives off a pleasing expression. Correct dentition with plenty in foreface. Neat well placed ears. Reachy in neck which flows into a well laid shoulder with elbows tight to ribcage. Ribbing is carried well back with correct top line. He is well angulated in his rear with short parallel hocks. On the out and back he was only one of a handful that displayed correct rear parallel drive with correct forward reach. I was mindful of his tender age but in the line- up he could not be ignored matching up to his more mature stable companion; so today BPIB and RCC. Will I’m sure continue to claim many more major awards! 2 Wilson, Shantallah Secret Shadow at Linburndax, B/T. Another youngster that is nicely put together. Appeals in head, eye and expression with dark eye. Plenty in neck with enough ribbing. Solid in top line which leads to a well angulated rear. His bone has quality with neat feet. Another that displayed accurate foot falls on the out and back whilst holding a pleasing profile on the go around. With normal luck should so well. 3 Metcalfe-Bilgin, Metadale Due Diligence, Red. Appeals for overall breed type. Head has good balance with kind eye. Plenty in neck with level top line. Bone is ok with neat feet. Not as forward in body as 1st and 2nd but in time this will correct itself.
PGD (1) Withheld and that was due to the fact that this exhibit was just too big all over and the consequence was that the scales did not stop going up!
LD (3,1) 1 Whyte, Chequer Paddington Bear at Dachienne JW, Red. OK for overall type. Head, eye and expression all good. Neck flows into a well laid shoulder. Plenty in rib with solid top line. Bone and feet good. Moved out ok on the out and back. Held his profile on the go around and was well presented. 2 Burnett, Burnett, Kirsty Zobear’s Watchman, B/T. Ample proportions throughout. Sound enough.
OD 5 (1 ab) 1 Moes & Williams, Ch Cwmdarhian Jesse James, Red. Exhibit out of the top draw and I see Sire of the Puppy Dog winner. Type judging springs to mind! Classic in head which has correct proportions with plenty in fore face with strength in jaw and excellent dentition. Lovely eye and expression. Reachy in neck which flows into a clean front assembly with plenty in fore chest with elbows tight to ribbing which is carried well back to a firm loin. Top line is solid and leads to a firm loin all finished off with a well angulated rear with short parallel hocks. This exhibit is a pleasure to witness displaying parallel rear drive and excellent front extension whilst holding an eye catching profile on the go around. He was presented in excellent order. Pleased to award him CC and BoB. Not at all surprised to hear he is the leading mini smooth too date. Congratulations. 2 Pell, Andison, Ch Clentry Donnie Darco, B/T. Another quality exhibit that is pleasing to go over. Scores in head, eye and expression. Dark in eye with correct dentition. Plenty in neck with good development in fore chest. He is well ribbed with a solid top line. His rear is well angulated and he stands on quality bone with neat feet. He moved out well on the out and back and was presented in good order. A worthy champion! 3 Mason, Teckeltown master Piece JW.
VD (1) 1 Stewart, Stargang Tyrion Russteck, Brindle. Seven and a half years; correct for overall body shape with conical shaped head. Neck flows into a clean front assembly with plenty in fore chest. Top line is solid with good ribbing. He moved out with style and was presented in good order.
Special Beginners Dog (2) 1 Wilson, Shantallah Secret Shadow at Linburndax, B/T see Puppy Dog. 2 Gilbert, Linburndax Rachs Tru Haggis, B/T. No mistaking for a m/s. Overall body proportions are ok with conical head. Ribbing is carried well back. Bone is good, moved out soundly but did carry tail rather high which spoilt his outline the go around but was presented in good order.
PB 11 (2 a) A good class to sort out with plenty to admire and placings will change! 1 Coxon, Darisca Devoted, Red. Appealing youngster of above average merit. Super in head which is totally feminine and of the correct conical shape. Dark in eye which gives off a melting expression. Neck flows into a well laid shoulder with level top line with plenty in rib. She is well angulated in her quarters and stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. Moved out well both ways whilst holding an eye catching profile on the go around. With normal luck should reach the top. In the line-up I was mindful of her tender age but the more I looked the more I liked. Pleased to award her the RCC today. Close call between her and the Dog Puppy for BPIB. 2 Metcalfe-Bilgin, Metadale Dora the Explorer, Red. Another quality exhibit with plenty to admire all through. Feminine in head which has correct balance. Clear in eye with excellent dentition. Neck and fore quarters all good. Sufficient in ribbing with level top line. She is well angulated in her rear and stands on good bone with neat compact feet. Moved out steadily on the out and back and gave off a pleasing profile on the go around. With more overall maturity will do well! 3 Callow, Garthorne Glenda. Nothing to dislike about this one. Has correct proportions in head with dark eye with correct dentition. Neck flows into a clean front assembly. Plenty in rib with a firm top line. She is well angulated in her rear and stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. She was sound on the out and back and was well presented; completing a trio of quality exhibits. Absolutely no disgrace here!
JB (9,2) 1st Coxon, D’Arisca Distinctive, Red. Litter sister to “devoted”. All remarks apply here. Plenty to admire all through and is sound. Only one thing left to say; one very clever lucky breeder! 2 Metcalfe-Bilgin, Metadale Legacy Lives on, Red. Yet another quality exhibit to go over. Scores in head, eye and expression with excellent dentition. Reachy in neck with a clean front assembly. Ribbing is good with a level top line and correct underline. She stands on good bone with compact feet. She has correct extension in front, just needs to strengthen in her rear. With maturity this will develop. Will continue to do well! 3 Diamond, Carruthers, Clentry Shooting Star, B/T.
PGB (5) 1 Whyte, Dachiene Strawberry Swing, Red. My notes say ok for overall breed qualities. Fair in head with correct eye and expression. Plenty in neck. Correct ribbing and top line. Bone has quality with correct feet. Moved out on the out and back soundly. 2 Wilson, Shantallah Moondust at Linburndax, Red. Feminine in head with good eye and expression. Plenty in neck. Level in top line with adequate ribbing. She is well angulated in her rear and stands on fair bone with neat feet. Moved out ok. 3 Kay, Lochlip the Magic Begin.
LB 5 (1 ab) 1 Blackburn-Bennett, Stargang Song of Ice N’Fire, B/T. Has plenty to admire all through. Overall proportions are somewhat smaller than most. Feminine head with good eye and expression. Plenty in neck with good ribbing. Solid in top line. Her rear is well angulated and her bone is adequate with neat compact feet. On the table she was a little apprehensive but on the ground she displayed excellent foot falls on the out and back whilst holding pleasing profile on the go around. She was presented in good order. Maybe one day the final piece of the jigsaw will be completed to enable her to wear her crown! 2 Mason, Teckeltown You’re the One JW, B/T. Head, eye and expression all ok. Ribbing is carried well back with a firm top line which leads to a well angulated rear. Bone and feet correct; not as positive in her rear as the winner. 3 Cumberland, Cumberland, Mumysami So Distinct.
OB 7 (1 ab) Good class! 1 Dunhill, Dunhill, Cwmdarhian Annie Aokley at Gellijam, B/T. Eye catching individual of above average merit. Feminine in head which is of the correct conical shape with excellent dentition. Clear in eye which gives off a pleasing expression. Plenty in neck with a prominent fore chest. Elbows kept close to ribbing level in top line which leads to a well angulated rear all finished off with strong parallel hocks. She displays such a happy out going attitude which is conveyed into her movement. Excellent foot falls on the out and back, especially in her rear movement whilst holding a pleasing profile on the go around. She was presented in gleaming coat and condition. No hesitation to award her the CC today, her third and crowning one. Congratulations. 2nd Kent, Lokmadi with a Dragon Tattoo, Red. Plenty to admire all through on this one. Correct proportions in head with good eye and expression with excellent dentition. Neck has good length which flows into a clean front assembly. She scores in rib with a solid top line and correct underline. Her rear is well angulated with strong parallel hocks. Moved out with style displaying accurate foot falls on the out and back and was presented in good order She is already on her way to the upper house. I’m confident she will get there! 3 Morris, Crosscop Gabriella. Red. Slightly different in type as to the two in front but has enough to admire all through. Head, eye and expression all good. Plenty in fore chest with good ribbing. Top line is level which leads to a well angulated rear. Will continue to do well
VB (1) 1 Kay, Lochlip I Cast a Spell on You, B/T. Eight year old. She certainly did. Has quality to admire all through. Correct proportions in head with good eye and expression. Plenty in neck with a well filled fore chest. Overall body proportions display good balance and she stands on quality bone with compact feet. On the move she was sound on the out and back whilst holding a pleasing outline on the go around. Pleased to award her Best Veteran.
Special Beginners Bitch 3 (1 ab) 1 Taylor, Niatona Joie De Vivre, B/T and only six months and raw but has plenty to admire. Feminine in head with a correct eye and expression. Body proportions show good overall balance with plenty in rib. She has correct bone with neat compact feet. For one so young she moved out steadily and she displayed a confident out going temperament. 2 Herald, Winterfield’s June of Arabia.
