Class 1068 GCB NO ENTRIES
Miniature Smooth Haired  My first time awarding CC's in this variety and I really enjoyed my day.  Thank you to the society for inviting me, the stewards who kept everything running so smoothly and to the exhibitors for their sporting acceptance of my decisions. I was pleased with my winners and feel fortunate to have judged so many dogs of quality.  Temperaments were overall very good and most of those that did not want to come to my outstretched hand, did not back off, choosing to stare at me with that dachshund look that lets you know exactly what they think of you!
MPD (3) 1 Ergis' Lokmadi Me Myself and I via Siouxline. Well made black and tan boy with a good outline held on the move.  Flowing neck into well laid shoulders, well filled front, good ribbing and moved soundly both ways. 2 Russell's Stargang Tyrion Russteck. Not as settled as 1st but when he got into his stride was sound both ways.  Brindle with a lot to like.  Good height to length, well angulated both ends with an elegant neck and masculine head.  Not co-operating with handler, which made him hard to assess.  Just sounder behind than 3rd , who is also a promising youngster. 3 Shutt's Donnadoon Waterloo Sunset
PD (4) 1 Williams' Wilmerella Wells Fargo.  Black and tan, elegant and scopy with nothing overdone.  Masculine head with oval eye, enough forechest and well ribbed back.  Very sound easy mover, motored round like he could go all day. 2 Russell's Stargang Tyrion Russteck 3 Gittins Mt Mr Bo Jangles at Boomerloo
JD (5) 1 Hunt's Carpaccio Casablanca JW. Black and tan presented in absolutely gleaming condition. Well schooled youngster who is balanced with correct height to length proportions, hammy quarters and short hocks.  Enough front without being overdone and super shoulders.  Has a good length of front reach and moved easily over the ground. 2 Barrett's Ayseebee Rumour Has It. Close up to 1st this one also moved out with alacrity.  Another moderate dog with no exaggeration and keeping a strong outline on the move. Lovely head and eye, good bone for size and sympathetically handled to get the best out of him. 3 Protheroe's Royalmaple Anky Panky
YD (1) 1 Ergis' Siouxline Aaron JW. Shaded red boy .  Well covered and immaculately presented, this red has an elegant neck running into well laid shoulders, giving him a smooth and graceful outline on the move.  Short hocks and strong quarters drove him round keeping a good top and underline.
LD (2) 1 Mitchell's Ygela No One Like You. Richly coloured red dog of a good size and looks all male.  Head, neck and feet super and presented in good hard condition.  Good height to length with ribbing to match.  Moved soundly with a good outline. 2 Melbourne's Melriding Perkin Warbeck.  Another dog that is pleasing to go over on the table.  Slightly lower than 1st, his movement across the grass was not quite as smooth flowing as the first.  Otherwise, everything in the right place and well put together.
OD (6,1) 1and CCDaykin's Ch Barratini Jonny Cash. Heading a lovely class of males is this scopy dog whose effortless movement gained him his place.  Enough leg to cover the ground easily, good angles both ends and super muscle tone.  His head is all male with that arrogant stance that male dachshunds have and he is pleasing to go over on the table, having correct angles, good ribbing and keeping his shape on the move. 2 and RCC Ch Siouxline Flynn Rider.  Hard to split the first two and in the end, the head of the first one was the only attribute separating them.  More compact than the first with lower hocks, this dog also moves with verve and drive, keeping his outline and showing off his good angles, firm top and underline, with a well filled front, super bone and excellent ribbing. 3 Blackburn's Stargang Tiger Feet
MPB (3) 1 Blackburn's Stargang Moon Magic. Lovely elegant black and tan with a beautiful sweep of neck and the best of heads.  Good height to length and when settled (which was a challenge) moved soundly.  Great feet, neck and ribbing, presenting a very attractive outline. 2 McLellan's Russteck Currant Bun at Cheguavar. Smaller cast and more compact.  Not quite the angles and flow of 1st but moved well and has a happy outgoing temperament. 3 Protheroe's Royalmaple Beryl the Peril
PB (6) 1 and Best Puppy Russell's Russteck Plum Duff.  Compact and all together.  Outgoing and a smart, confident mover, this bitch already has a well developed font and body, with moderate angles both ends and a smooth steady stride.  She kept a strong top and underline to win this nice class of babies. 2 Blackburn Bennett's Stargang Star Anise. Rangier than first and not yet quite as together on the move.  She is longer cast with enough ribbing to carry her length, well filled front and tight elbows.  Beautiful head and confident temperament, just needs time to develop and mature. 3 Melbourne's Stargang Glimmer at Melriding
JB (4) 1 Mosiarto Miss Calculate. Compact red bitch, all in proportion.  Lovely bone for size with tight feet and a kind expression.  She kept her shape at all times and moved with exuberance and confidence.  2 Coxon's D'Arisca Dizzy Heights. Another red, slightly lighter all through and a tad more elegant than the first. Well put together and pleasing to handle on the table.  A difficult decision between the two, the first just edged it with her hammy quarters and drive. 3 Kerry's Kireton Cici.
YB (1) 1 Herrington's Kathington Chance Be a Lady. Stood alone but worthy of her place, this bitch is a good height to length with tight elbows and a smart, determined mover.  Nothing overdone, she is moderately angulated which shows in her movement.
PGB (3,1) 1 Burton's Swingletrees Xtravaganza. Black and tan bitch.  Good proportions and standing on neat, tight feet.  Elegant head and neck, super ribbing and correct angulation.  Moved round steadily and with confidence. 2 Upton's Dark Intrigue with Denval. Not quite as relaxed as the 1st so her topline was a little hunched both standing and on the move.  Pleasing to go over, she is a good height to length.
LB (6,1) 1 Ergis and Melbourne's Siouxline Rapunzel with Melriding. Correct height to length, this compact bitch oozes quality.  Firm topline, well off for ribbing, super angles, oval front and lovely hammy quarters that drive her from behind.  2 Salisbury's Brocklewood Black Rose JW.  Close decision.  Black and tan that comes into her own on the move.  This bitch is all curves, which gives her a flowing outline on the move with her elegant neck held high and her tail wagging.  She is slightly taller than the first, well balanced and sound coming and going. 3 Kerry's Brocklewood Bacall at Kireton
OB (4)  1 CC and Best of Breed,  Blackburn Bennett's Ch Lokmadi Sea Holly at Stargang This superb red presents an elegant, flowing outline on the move.  From her gorgeous head, reachy neck and well laid shoulders, she flows into well sprung ribs that carry well back.  She has super angulation both ends and her effortless, reachy movement reflects her superb conformation.  Pleased to award her the CC (her 13th I believe) and Best of Breed 2  and RCC Hunt's Barratini Jennifer Eccles at Carpaccio. This bitch is more compact than the first and also has a lot to like. Another one with lovely angles and well muscled.  Well handled and presented, absolutely true coming and going and keeping a strong topline on the move.  I found out later, she is litter sister to my Dog CC winner.  Coxon's D'Arisca Damsel in a Dress
