It was a pleasure to judge the Miniature Smooth Dachshunds at this Show. Overall the quality was high, and I noticed a marked improvement in the hindquarters. I feel that more work is needed to refine the heads (some exhibits were a little broad in the back skull and with a rounder eye) also more length in the ribbing and a shorter loin  will benefit the breed. MPD 1 Barisse A Touch of Magic was a well balanced youngster good head very congident on the move. 2 Donnadoon Le Mousquetaine, Another well balanced young dog, lacking the confidence of the first place getter. PD 1 Ambiesque Aelle At Stargang. An elegant B/T with very good head well angulated front and rear already shows good drive when moving. 2 Carpaccio Captain Scarlet, Plasing head, not as well angulated as 1st dog which showed up in lack of reach & drive whilst on the move. JD 1 Cwmdarhian Can't Touch This (Best dog Puppy & Res CC) Excellent angulation fore and hind, lovely rounded hind quarter. Moved out well. 2 Swingletrees Just-in-Time Good front, rather short in ribbing, not as settled when moving. YD 1 Djeata Midnight Sun Good front good length & lay of upper arm rather lacking in hind quarter. More confident than 2nd placed dog Swinglwtrees Just-in-Time. PGD 1 Cwmdarhian Billy the Kid Good angles front & rear giving correct movement. Would prefer more refinement in the back skull to balance the head. 2 Portalutra Making Ice at Dukidachs Lacking in length of upper arm and front leg giving a very choppy front movement. Lovely temperament. LD 1 Mosiarto Mister Big, lovely size, well bodied with good angulation giving good strong movement. 2 Willowheath Just William at Brocklewood. Rather heavy in the head, reasonable angulation prefered the stronger movement on the 1st dog. OD 1 Sonderbar Ben at Stargang (Imp) (CC Res BOB) Very elegant red, well bodied, super head and angulation. Well ribbed , moved with effortless grace. A True dachshund in miniature. 2 Barisse High Endeavour Another well angulated dog showing correct movement. Would like to see more refinement in the head. Bitches:MP 1 Mosiarto Miss Fortune. Covered the ground well when on the move. Good length of Rib, adequate angulation. 2 Barisse Touched by Magic: Adequate angulation in front but lacking in hind angulation, giving weaker rear movement. PB 1 (& Puppy of Breed) Bronia Feliciana. Well balanced fore & hind, covered the ground well. Would prefer a little more length in foreface to balance head. 2 Cwmdarhian What a Carry On: Good lay of shoulder but lacking length of upper arm and front leg which results in choppy front movement. JB 1 Swingletrees Amazing Grace. Very elegant excellent head and eye, well angulated front & rear. Lacking a little in confidence. 2 Rouge Royale for Kathington, Nicely angulated moved well, not as good in head as 1st bitch. YB 1 Swingletrees Amazing Grace, gained in confidence on 2nd go araound. 2 Lokmadi Steffy Byng; Nice head & eye. Carried herself well on the move. Prefered the angulation of the 1st bitch. PG 1 Moriarto Smelly Nelly Very good head, very correct on the move well balanced. 2 Scharmein Xitta A little broad in the back skull not as well balanced height to length at 1st bitch. LB 1 Kireton Agnes, good length of ribbing, clean outline moved well. 2 Garthorne Miss Dynamite, Adequate angulation to move correctly. Lacking in confidence. OB 1 (CC & Best of Breed) Ch Sonderbar Billie Jean at Stargang (Imp) An outstanding quality bitch. Super head, excellent angulation front and rear moved beautifully and effortlessly. Good bone and substance well withing the weight limit. 2 (Res CC) Ch Garthorne Gazania: very good head & eye, Very good angulation to give good clean movement coming and going. Well ribbed.
