MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED
My first time judging miniature smooths and I was pleased to find some really
promising specimens in the younger classes. I would be concerned at the number
of dogs which were very narrow in front, something which had to be forgiven to
some extent. I also found a few with incorrect mouths and a few with kinks in
their tails – faults which I feel should not be forgiven.
PD (9,3) Some really promising babies for the future in my
opinion 1 Williams’ Cwmdarhian Billy The Kid, 6 months old red dog, neat, good
head and eye, nice neck into a good lay of shoulder, good length of upper arm,
well angulated quarters, move with drive and zest. Needs to mature and fill out
his underline and tighten in front but should have a very promising future. 2
Williams’ Cwmdarhian Benjamin Button, black and tan who was not so sure of
himself as 1. Good head and neck, well balance in the rear. Preferred his
underline but preferred the shoulders of 1. 3 Salisbury’s Willowheath Just
William At Brocklewood
JD (3,1) 1 Roberts’ Denver Darling Echo Falls. Beautiful shaded red of
10 months. Lovely head and neck, good shoulders, superb quarters which he used
to stride out on the move. Elegant balanced dog. CC and BP. Mead’s Minimead
Mysta O’Riley. Really nice black and tan. Good head and neck, good ribbing, good
quarters, kept a nice outline at all times. A little reserved at times.
PGD (4) 1 Burton’s Swingletrees Ready-Teddy-Go. Nice red dog. Nice head
and neck, good shoulders, firm topline, good quarters, moved well. 2 Metcalfe-Bilgin’s
Metadale Super Sid. A black and tan of smaller, cobby type. Nice head. Good
firm topine, well ribbed, good quarters, moved well. 3 Thorne’s Lord At The
Dance With Knockboy
LD (4,2) 1 Shelton’s Barisse High Endeavour. Nice shaded red of
2 years. Neat, of good size. Nice head and neck. Good lay of shoulder. Adequate
upper arm. Good quarters which he used well on the move. Kept a nice outline on
the move 2 Young’s Youngline Dream Keeper. Good head and neck. Good shoulder
lay. Neat quarters. Didn’t keep his outline on the move as well as 1.
OD (2) 1 Callow’s Ch Garthorne Top Gear. Neat black and tan.
Well muscled. Good head and neck. Good lay of shoulder. Good quarters. Kept a
good outline at all times. Worthy champion. RCC 2 Roberts’ Ch Denver Midnight
Sun. Nice shaded red of longer type. Good head and neck. Nice shoulders and
balanced quarters. Didn’t keep his outline as well as 1 on the move.
V (2) 1st Callow’s Garthorne Lady In Black. Lovely neat black
and tan bitch. Moved well keeping her outline at all times and not showing her
age. 2nd Lashbrook’s Merrygarth Home Run A Highbend. Completely different type
to 1. Taller and cobby. Moved ok.
PB (9) 1 Callow’s Garthorne Miss Dynamite. Loved this black and tan
bitch. So full of herself but this detracted on the move with her tail held a
little too high. Nice head and neck, good lay of shoulder. Correct size. Lovely
quarters. Beautiful rear drive. Needs to mature but given time should come to
greater things. 2 Coxon’s D’Arisca Sybilla. Neat red bitch. Preferred 1’s head.
Neat shoulders, good form topline, balanced quarters. Moved well with attitude.
3 Baker’s Cwmdarhian Malone
JB (10,1) 1 Ergis’ Siouxline April Folly. Elegant red bitch. Good head
and long neck which flowed into correct lay of shoulders and good upper arm.
Good length of ribbing, firm topline and correct underline. Superb quarters.
Beautiful gait. CC and BOB. 2 Daykin’s Barratini Scarlett Ribbon. Lovely head.
Good neck and shoulders. Not the confidence of 1 on the move but similar
attributes in construction. 3 Hughes’ Batendach Coppa Rose For Julidachs
PGB (10,3) 1 Salisbury’s Barratini Analisa At Brocklewood. Neat
black and tan. Good head and neck. Nice shoulders. Good topline. Good
quarters. Nice outline at all times. 2 Twyman’s Stargang Porsche. Good head,
lovely elegant neck. Good topline. Well balanced quarters. Not the upper arm of
1. 3 Hughes’ Minimead Maid To Love For Julidachs
LB (8,1) 1 Melbourne and Holdsworth’s Barratini Hubble Bubble
At Melriding JW. Elegant black and tan bitch. Loved her outline. Good head and
neck. Nice shoulders .Good firm topline. Well angulated quarters which she used
well on the move. 2 Coxon’s Rose Darque At D’Arisca. Elegant brindle. Good head,
lovely neck, good lay of shoulder. Leaner type to 1. Good firm topline. Well
angulated rear, moved well. Preferred length of upper arm of 1. 3 Ergis’
Siouxline Cinderella
OB (4,1) 1 Coxon’s Ch D’Arisca Golden Delicious. Red bitch I have
admired in the past. Good head neck and shoulders. Beautiful outline on the move
using her quarters to the maximum. Not in her peak condition for the CC today.
RCC. 2 Daykin’s Barratini Jilly Cooper JW. Lovely black and tan bitch. Nice head
and neck. Correct lay of shoulder. Good balanced quarters. Good outline on the
move. A little deeper in chest than I like but overall worthy champion. 3
