MINIATURE SMOOTH-HAIRED
I was looking for a soundly moving Dachshund of correct conformation and size
without exaggeration within an excellent entry in terms of both quantity and
quality. As expected, none of the dogs presented were either undernourished or
dehydrated. The rather long grass and uneven ground proved to be a handicap for
some and made accurately assessing movement difficult.
PD(4) 1 Williams’ Cwmdarhian Benjamin Button. A promising well marked b/t dog
with good clear tan, good masculine head and eye, good topline held both
standing and on the move. 2 Oxley’s Dinkidax Buttons. C/t with much to like, in
a close decision he lost to the better front of the winner. 3 Williams’
Cwmdarhian Billy The Kid.
JD(4, 1) 1 Williams’ Cwmdarhian Gran Torino. Red dog with lovely head, front and
angulation, longer than I would prefer but his excellent conformation and good
driving movement compensated for that failing in a very close decision. 2
Blackburn’s Sonderbar Ben At Stargang. A lovely red youngster, very narrowly
losing a very close decision, better in loin but losing out to the winners
excellent front and ability to cope with the uneven ground, on smooth surfaces I
would expect the positions to be reversed and for him to live up to his
undoubted promise.
PGD(1) 1 Martin’s Choefait King Leo. O/w b/t dog, standing alone.
LD(4) 1 and CC, McAuley’s Elnside Woody Be Best. Well constructed red dog having
a good head and eye, well angulated front and rear enabling him to move well
over the uneven ground, one of the few dogs keeping a true hind action going
away. 2 Kent’s Barratini Jeeves At Lokmadi. B/t losing out in a close decision
to the better hind action of the winner. 3 Winchurch’s Brianolf Malachite.
OD(7, 1) 1 and RCC, Callow’s Ch Garthorne Top Gear. Good headed b/t having a
lovely front, well angulated front and rear but losing out in the challenge to
the winners better hind action. 2 Ergis’ Siouxline Maverick. Red dog of good
construction, well handled and schooled but not quite the front or bone of the
above. 3 Shutt’s Black Passion Of Donnadoon.
PB(11) 1 and BPIB, Coxon’s D’Arisca Sybilla. Red bitch with good head, eye, well
angulated, enabling her to move freely with drive and reach, winning a close
decision over the second on her better bone. 2 Kent’s Toniajavae Indian Passion
At Lokmadi. Nicely made b/t also with good head and eye and moving well, but not
quite the bone of first. 3 Callow’s Garthorne Miss Dynamite.
JB(6) 1 and RCC, Blackburn’s Sonderbar Billie Jean At Stargang. A super young
bitch who, when mature, will trouble the best, lovely head, nice tight loin,
good angulation and moving with confidence despite the ground conditions, along
with her litter brother (second in JD). These two would appear to be an inspired
import who will add to our gene pool both their qualities and bloodlines. 2
Ergis’ Siouxline April Folly. A quality red bitch, unlucky to meet the above, in
a very close decision, lost out to the marginally superior hind action of the
winner. 3 Williams’ Cwmdarhian Mizz Lucy Lou.
PGB(6, 1) 1 Twyman’s Shardagang Porsche. Well made b/t with a good head and
reach of neck flowing into good shoulders, well handled to win a closely
contested class. 2 Baker’s Cwmdarhian Cariad Bach. Very close up to the winner
but not moving quite as freely or as positive in her back action. 3 Dolan’s
Lutzana Lets Tango.
LB(9, 2) 1 Coxon’s Rose D’Arque At D’Arisca. This top quality s/r headed a class
of quality bitches, separated only by hair splitting, finally took the top spot
on her more positive back action. 2 Ergis’ Siouxline Cinderella. A well handled
well made red bitch, narrowly losing to the above and equally narrowly winning
by sheer ring presence over the third placed bitch. 3 Mitchell’s Bronia Golly
Miss Molly At Ashridge.
OB(6, 3) 1 and CC, Blackburn Bennett’s Shardagang Illusion. A beautifully
constructed and presented red bitch who flowed round the ring despite the uneven
ground, lovely head and eye flowing into well laid shoulders, excellent front
and angulation, well ribbed and well handled, she offered all I was looking for.
2 Coxon’s Ch D’Arisca Golden Delicious. A bitch I have admired from the ringside
and one that did not disappoint when gone over, a slightly different type to
first but still a top quality bitch with a good head, good front and good
angulation, unlucky to meet the winner and no doubt the two will change places
on future occasions. 3 Melbourne &Holdsworth’s Can Ch Grandgables Ms Chatanooga
To Melriding.
