MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED Thank you to exhibitors
for this wonderful entry with so few absentees, with this, must go a very big
thank you to my stewards, who looked after me so well. Good stewards are worth
their weight in gold, so thank you very much. It was a pity the weather was not
kinder but at least it was not raining. The ring was large but very much a
field, it could have done with being cut, but they are hounds and should have
been able to cope with the unevenness, but then I suspect had they been loose
they would have galloped over it. It is seven years since I last judged the
breed, over these years there have been improvements, heads were not so snippy
nor were there the round poppy eyes, mouths were correct, just the odd dirty
canine. Front movement was good but rear movement left much to be desired, it
looked O.K. in profile but watched going away, there was no drive and was all
over the place. It was a pity there was no minor puppy classes as, the puppy
classes were large so some nice puppies, who have some growing up to do, went
home cardless. Some were a little lacking in bone and tight feet but none were
skinny.
PD (12,1) 1 Mitchell’s Bronia Calvino red/brindle, he has great bone
and tight bunched feet, good ribbing excellent angulation front and rear.
Masculine head and expression with dark almond eyes. Level topline both standing
and moving. Lots of potential here when he gets his act together and shows off
his many attributes. One who should go all the way, to the top. 2 Coxon’s
D’Arisca Due Diligence, did not have the bone of the winner and needs to
strengthen in rear movement. Has a masculine head with a good reach of neck,
ribbing is carried well back, the top line is level at all times, he looked good
in profile but his rear movement was erratic when going away. 3 Bourne’s Yaapeet
Uriel another B/T with much to like about him and very much like second but
again it was his rear movement, which let him down.
JD (8, 2) 1 Shelton’s Barisse High Endeavour R.C.C. Red/Brindle he has
a good head and masculine expression, dark eye. Good reach of neck, which runs
into well place shoulders. Prominent forechest, with good length of keel, nicely
rounded rear, his movement was good and he kept a level topline. One who could
gain his title. 2 Mead’s Minimead Minisota, red of good make and shape,
prominent forechest, good reach of neck, level topline, excellent condition with
shiny coat good bone and feet. Another who I would expect to do well as he
matures, today he was not quite as positive behind as the winner in rear
movement. 3 Salisbury’s Barrantini Aston Martin B/T, thought his front movement
was a little hackneyed, but I liked his head and dark eye with his well place
shoulders.
PGD (3) 1 Holland’s Zarosa Motivation B/T good head with a dark eye and
very well placed shoulders, and this was evident in his good front movement,
prominent forechest with a good length of keel, although he looked good moving
in profile, he lacked drive. 2 Winchuch’s Brianolf Malachite, unfortunately he
and his handler had a nasty experience just before coming into the ring, which
unsettled him somewhat, other wise he could have been my winner here. I liked
his head and dark eye, his excellent reach of neck, prominent forechest and
length of keel, he has well placed shoulders which showed in his good reach in
front movement. He has a good rear construction and is well angulated but he did
not move as steadily as the winner. 3 Williams Cwmdarhian Mr Magoo B/T. I liked
his head, dark eye, he was in good muscular condition, but was a little upright
in the front and did not move so well behind.
LD (4,1) 1 MacDonalds Bensarka The Midas Touch a red boy with the best
movement of the three, but even so he could strengthen in his rear movement. He
has a masculine head with a dark eye, his ribbing is carried well back, topline
is level both standing and moving. 2 Shutts Black Passion Of Donndoon excellent
front construction with good shoulders reach of neck and prominent forechest,
level topline, I would like slightly longer ribbing. 3 Yeoman’s Klynerbyner Vim
& Vigour, very dark chocolate, well made exhibit who lost out on hind movement.
OD (8,2) 1 Ergis’ Ch Siouxline Indigo J.W. Sh.CM B/T with a masculine
head and expression, dark almond eye, his good reach of neck leads into well
place shoulders, prominent forechest, level topline, he is short coupled with
good bone and feet. He moved with front extension and drive behind very fit and
muscular. Very difficult decision between him and the bitch for B.O.B. but on
the day she just seemed a shade more balanced. 2 Ashwell-Carter’s Siouxline
Isaac, I thought these two were very alike and on looking in the catalogue I see
they are litter brothers. Many of his brothers qualities but could not match his
rear movement, lacked drive. 3 Moes Aust /N Z Ch Deercroft Discoverer At
Carpaccio good front construction and in excellent condition but was let down by
his hind movement.
PB (20,3) A lovely class with many very nice babies who were out of the
cards, their day will come. 1 Shukers Yewlitt Amelia B/T B.P.I.B. A most
promising baby, feminine head, dark eye, excellent bone and tight feet, short
coupled with ribbing carried well back, prominent forechest and good length of
keel. Well made rear, which enabled her to move freely. I shall look forward to
seeing her at future shows. 2 Ergis Siouxline Cinderella red, who was very close
up to one, in construction but on the day I felt the winner was just that more
positive in rear movement, this young lady has good shoulders a prominent
forechest good length of keel, a level top line at all times. Very feminine with
good ring presence. 3 Mitchell’s Bronia Cinzia litter mate to winner of puppy
dog, who like him is very well made, but like him needs to settle to the task in
hand.
JB (10,3) 1 Coxon’s D’Arisca Dark & Delicious B/T small but neat young
lady, possibly a little short of bone, feminine head with a dark eye. Good
shoulders and spring of rib, which are carried well back, correct length of
keel. Kept a level topline both standing and moving, which was good for a
youngster on the ground. 2 Watkinson’s Manakoora Pandaus, close up to winner in
make and shape, but was not as positive in her rear movement, otherwise a nice
exhibit. 3 Young’s Hartlake Marjory Seedling At Youngline B/T, who I have seen
at many local shows and have always liked her, so it was good to have the
opportunity to go over her, she is very well made in her front and rear
construction with a lovely feminine head, thought to begin with that she would
be my winner but she was not moving as well behind as I know she can.
PGB (10,4) 1 Palin’s Rodima Nickle ‘N’ Dime For Sanmik. Very pleasing
red/brindle with a well constructed front and rear. Prominent forechest,
excellent ribbing and length of keel. Well made quarters, she presented a
balanced picture, moved out in front and well behind. 2 Burton’s Swingletrees
Heaven –Leigh, red who was close up to one but not quite such a balanced
picture, very feminine head carried proudly, ribbing goes well back, she had a
level topline at all times. 3 Walker’s Brianolf Mystical Gem For Dorian, red
with a well constructed front, feminine, dark eye, level topline, prominent
forechest with good ribbing. Her rear movement let her down, as she was rather
wide.
LB (9,4) 1 Salisbury’s Brocklewood Babycham J.W. Quality red,
who was very well handled to enable her to show off her many qualities. I liked
every thing about her, and seriously considered her for the R.C.C.. Feminine
head excellent construction both fore and aft, level topline at all times, she
just lost out to the R.C.C. winner by a whisker. 2 Rouse’s Dvordac Kiss The
Future, shaded red, feminine, nicely constructed and similar in many ways to the
winner, but did not match her rear movement. 3 Melbourne’s Barratini Hubble
Bubble At Melriding B/T well made feminine Young lady, who looked good standing,
but was rather all over the place on the move.
OB (8,2) 1 Hunt’s Ch Carpaccio Royal Parade C.C. B.O.B. Elegant
bitch full of quality, lovely feminine head with a dark oval eye, prominent
forechest, ribbing carried well back, keel of correct length, very well
angulated front and rear, which allows her to move with extension in front and
drive behind, excellent bone and feet. I liked every thing about her. 2 Callows
Garthorne Gazinia, R.C.C. Red who was close up in construction, but was not
quite as positive behind on the move, but just had the edge over the limit
winner for the reserve. I am sure her day will come. 3 Robinson’s D’Arisca
Indulge The Dream At Inkel, very feminine red, with well place shoulders,
ribbing carried well back, quarters well made close up to second but not so good
going away.
