MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED
Due to the terrible wet
conditions prior to the show, all judging was inside the Hall, which was nicer
under foot, but terribly noisy and I commend the exhibits for their ability to
show as well as they did with the amazing noise and echoes. I found in my
winners lovely "Dachshunds in Miniature" with good fronts and enough keel and
width between forelegs. Heads on the whole were good with not many round
protruding eyes. Some short ribbing which made for slack toplines on the move.
PD (2) 1 Coxon’s D’Arisca Speed Dating, red 7 months baby,
lovely head & neck, sufficient ribbing & good topline, good feet & shoulders.
Still very much a baby on the move; 2 Naylor’s Archibald See Me Now at Maryhazel,
b/t, longer cast but retained his topline, 9 months boy with a good head & eye.
Could have more keel. Good feet, moved quite well.
JD (5) 1 Callow’s Garthorne Top Gear, lovely youngster, just my type,
head to die for, super to go over, excellent neck & shoulders, good width in
front & plenty of keel, good tight feet, excellent ribs going well back, super
outline, retained his topline, moved very well. Just lost out on CC on maturity.
RCC. Must have a very bright future; 2 Ergis’ Siouxline Maverick, lovely clear
red, taller & not as wide in front. Lovely head & expression, good topline,
close decision. Needs to mature in body. Ribs good, very good mover; 3
Macaulay’s Elnside Woody Be Best.
LD (1) 1 Melbourne’s Melridiing Jerome, clear red, nice
stallion hound, good head & keel, good feet & topline, strong hindquarters, a
tad long in hock, sufficient ribbing, moved OK when settled.
OD (6) 1 Ergis’ Siouxline Indigo, super b/t, lovely for size & so
balanced, good head, front & feet, excellent keel & plenty of heartroom, well
ribbed, moved extremely well & retained his super shape throughout. CC, his
third; 2 Herrington’s Kathington Chance N Counter, very nice red, good head &
front. Would prefer longer ribcage, stood a little rocking horse like but good
strong hindquarters which he used well; 3 Melbourne’s Melriding Lafayette.
PB (6) Lovely class of young bitches. 1 Coxon’s D’Arisca Barratini
Bouquet, b/t, 7 months baby, excellent front, feet & ribbing, sweet head, super
topline, very strong behind for a youngster, quite a fine head shape, lovely eye
& neck; 2 Melbourne’s Melriding Creole Lady, lovely bitch with good head &
excellent front, feet & ribbing. Sadly a little anxious, so did not give her
best on the move. A nice puppy, I hope she settles; 3 Macauley’s Elnside Secret
Love.
JB (5) Melbourne & Holdsworth’s Barratini Hubble Bubble at
Melriding, sweet bitch with everything going for her, b/t of 9 months, sweetest
of heads & good eye shape, nice neck, lovely front & good feet, very good
ribbing going well back, super on the move. BP; 2 Mead’s Minimead Miz Lucy Loo,
b/t with very good front, keel & feet, shorter coupled. Preferred head on 1.
Lovely outline, good behind; 3 Russell’s Rustic Peat Bog Fairy.
PGB (6) 1 Rowel’s Emmajesk Amelia, beautifully constructed b/t,
bit round in eye. Good feet, front & ribbing, moved well using strong
hindquarters & retained her outline throughout; 2 Mead’s Minimead Miss Behaving,
nice bitch, good front & keel, lovely feet, well ribbed, moved well but stood
high in the rear which was a shame; 3 Maxted’s Detravis Just One Look at
Lutscher.
LB (7) Good class headed by two very nice bitches. 1 Ergis’
Siouxline Evangelina, b/t, super head & lovely neck, very good shoulders & keel,
good feet & ribs go well back, stood looked lovely & parallel behind, good
outline & moved well; 2 Andison & Peel’s Clentry Forget Me Not, clear red with
the loveliest of heads, very good keel & front, ribs go well back, retained a
good outline, but not as strong behind as 1, a little close in hock; 3 Maxted’s
Detravis Just One Loot at Lutcher.
OB (5) Strong class which bodes well for the breed. The first
three could change places on another day, but 1 was just beautiful & so
collected on the move. She never put a foot wrong. 1 Coxon’s Ch D’Arisca Golden
Delicious, & she is, lovely head & neck, typical of this kennel, good keel &
ribbing, excellent to go over, lovely ribbing, topline & hindquarters, moved so
well. CC, BOB; 2 Mead’s Minimead Maid Specially, as I was about to go over this
bitch, my last in the class, the fire alarms went off & we were all evacuated. I
must say when we finally returned into the hall this bitch behaved as though
nothing had happened. Lovely b/t, excellent front & keel, pleasing head & eye,
good ribbing & hindquarters, strong in front, moved well but not quite the
flowing movement of 1. RCC; 3 Callow’s Garthorne Gazania.
