BEST IN SHOW

I was honoured to be the judge for best in show, and thank the SDA for their welcome and hospitality

The lineup was a pleasure to see and each of the six were good representitives of their variety.

Best in Show went to Davies’s Smooth haired dog Ch Undeg Elenius. He is an unexaggerated male who took over when he came into the challenge for top spot. In great condition, his construction is pleasing with a masculine head, a kind expression, stong neck flowing into a well set shoulder. A strong body, and well boned front and hind quarters, of which both were complimented by the correct angulation. All this and he flowed around like a well co ordinated hound. New one to me, well done.

Reserve B.I.S. went to Graham’s well know champion Ch Jadag Bjorn Veeta. He is six and a half years old, but is still a powerful example of the breed. Very balanced and sound, and glamorous with a chocolate coloured coat with no hint of a curl. This dog commands attention and is a great mover.

Best Puppy in Show brought together a promising group of babies, all of whom showed their socks off, and at the end of the long day they were still doing their bit.

B.P.I.Show went to (a very thrilled) Oxley’s Owlery Golden Splendour. A very well named longhaired bitch of eight months. I thought this young bitch was the type that leaves an impression insofar as she has glamour, temperament and soundness. A well covered body with correct angulation front and back, very pretty head, and a good stong and above all, sound gait. One to watch with interest.

Res. B.P.I.Show went to Rawson’s Twyhill Forceful Freddy for Rosenket, an imposing choc/tan smooth dog. Well, Freddy has been digging, and his nose showed the results but that aside, he is a cracker. Balanced and eyecatching he should mature into an impressive hound, with solid bone and a good head. Well set shoulders, stong body level topline. His hind movement was slightly close behind, but no great problem, the Longhaired just pipped him at the post on this one point. Lovely pair of youngsters.
