WIRE HAIRED

A pleasure to judge this delightful variety of Dachshund, so full of character & humour, always great temperaments. I had some overweight ones, especially among the bitches.

MPD (3,1a) 1 Carruthers’ Tannahill Valentinio, well up to size for 6 months, good body, bone, coat & condition, lovely head & eyes, sound mover, showed with enthusiasm & confidence; 2 Edwards & Lavin’s Swincombes Darite, 7 months old, delightful puppy who had his own idea how to do things, rather short of coat, hoovering the ground so movement not easy to assess, attractive head & expression, needs to firm up in front. PD (2) 1 Dible’s Lieblings Stormin Norman, 11 months red in excellent condition, very fit, intelligent dark eyes, good length of head, low & level, good bone & proportions, went well, steady showman, pleased with himself, rock steady character. BP; 2 Vine’s Cishelvine Nobody’s Fool, 11 months old, not in his best coat, enjoying his time in the ring & took a bit of time to settle down on the move, pleasing expression, good body, another with personality plus, moved OK when he took his exercise seriously. JD (0). PGD (5,1) 1 Vine’s Cishelvine Sea Swell, comfortable winner, good reach of neck, excellent coat texture, gorgeous head & expression, good length of body, very typy & well constructed, moved & showed well, came back into the challenge with renewed vigour. RCC; 2 Edwards & Lavin’s Nosinllor Fusilier, short of coat but has nothing to hide, fit & well muscled, firm body & topline, well handled & just a bit lazy on the move; 3 Harmer’s Ballanroo All Fired Up. LD (5,1) 1 Lever’s Reveldown Glenmorangie, not much coat but texture OK, clean outline, low & level, dark intense eyes, lovely expression, devoted showman, excellent ribcage, showed with composure, went well; 2 Davis’ Teckelgarth Tom Thumb, harsh jacket, attractive head. Not quite as good behind as 1, occasionally hopping on one hind leg. Well conditioned & handled; 3 Rowe’s Boloria Calico Jack. OD (4) 1 Moore’s Ch Aventine Rainman at Romanchi, masculine dog in good form, excellent silhouette when posed & held himself proudly on the move keeping his topline firm, good length of head, serious expression, excellent coat texture, sound mover, very good bone, legs & feet, confident showman who performed well. CC & BOB; 2 Dible & Moon’s Ch/Ir Ch Liebling Cross The Pond to Barmaud, red, not giving 100 per cent in front, otherwise a serious contender, attractive head, good topline, well muscled quarters, well presented & handled, moved well behind, half brother to BP; 3 McCalmont’s Ch Silvae Pioneer.

PB (5,1) At least three out of four should have been sent to sit on the naughty step as they were all pretty unruly but oh so charming. 1 Phillips’ Tendrow Poetic Justice, 9 months old, miss roly poly personified & quite impossible to resist. Lovely face, expressive eyes, very good body, bone & ribcage, sound & busy on the move, enthusiastic showgirl, bit happy with her tail at times but that’s exuberance; 2 Seath’s Sunsong Gypsy Rose, 10 months choc/t, good outline & held her topline on the move, went well, showed with decorum, good bone & length of head. Just preferred expression of 1, coat not at its best; 3 Gibson’s Allfreys Carolina. JB (5,1) 1 Dible’s Lieblings Drama Queen, red, good head, dark eyes giving intelligent expression, excellent reach of neck, harsh jacket, good body & quarters, plenty of drive behind. A bit lose in front. Jolly temperament, well conditioned; 2 Pughe & Fraser’s Bystock Black Inca, smart outline, good overall proportions, excellent coat texture, composed showgirl, moved well, would like a wider underjaw; 3 Seath’s Sunsong Gypsy Music. PGB (9,4) 1 Phillips’ Tendrow Special Reflection, quality head, good outline, bone & body, well muscled quarters, best mover in this class, well handled, coat could be of better texture; 2 Kent’s Monisi Calamity Jane, harsh jacket, attractive head & expression, front feet a bit flat & nails need to be cut back, good length of body, could have moved a bit more drive; 3 Locksmith’s Cishelvine Born To Dance at Abbeydac. LB (10,1) Big class where some decent bitches had to go cardless. 1 Rollinson’s Nosinllor Joan Of Arc, great coat texture, very fit & well conditioned, held topline on the go round, good length of head, dark intelligent eyes, full of her own importance, moved with a purpose, accomplished showgirl; 2 Heffernan’s Ritterburg La Traviata at Mamutik, showy quality bitch who never stopped trying, well handled & presented, typical head, dark eyes, firm body, confident attitude, close up; 3 Gibson’s Allfreys Ursula. OB (5) What a difficult choice between 1 & 2 as I liked them both very much. 1 McCalmont’s Silvae Mystic, full of quality, lovely type & size, feminine head, keen intelligent expression, marvellous coat, fit & well muscled, shapely body, good reach of neck, well balanced & sound, great ring presence & style, 100 per cent switched on. CC; 2 Pughe & Fraser’s Ch Bystock Pumpkin Pie, perfect topline, well proportioned, good bone & ribcage, well fitting jacket, co-operative showgirl with good head & eyes, moved with drive, so close to getting the CC, just persisted in turning one front foot when standing, two superb bitches. RCC; 3 Kent’s Lieblings Sweet Charity.
