I have owned and bred these tough outgoing little hounds since the early 70’s and enjoy judging them. All temperaments were good. Coats appeared to have improved since I last judged. I like to see furnishings on a wire, after all they are there to protect the face when hunting. Some of you know my views on fitness, one exhibitor told me that she had been walking miles on the roads to firm up her bitch, it worked! Too many were slack with little muscle, it is amazing how regular hard work can improve moderate movement to good positive movement. Two hounds were filthy, this is not neccessary. What has happended to the dog classes? The bitches were far superiur, but having said that mt DCC and RDCC pleased me a lot.

PD. (6). 1. Baxter’s, Lankelly Timothy Grass. Well balanced lad. Once he had settled moved soundly with drive. Nicely put together. Kind eye. Took more after his sire than dam. Nicely presented. 2. Rollinson’s, Nosinllor Grenedier. Good coated boy. Movement somewhat erratic. Not a soft an expression as first, but he is nicely put together and time is on his side. 3. Davies’s, Atahira Bags the Blue.

JD. (6). 1. Clifford’s, Brockbane Papageno. RCC. The forst wires I vere had were Brockbane in 1972. I liked this boy a lot. He was shown to his advantage. Nicely presented. Good wire coat. Correct bite. Kind expression. Was full of kisses! He is very nicely constructed and subsequently moves with drive. I hope he goes on to greater things. 2. Gibson’s, Allfreys Tristan. Another nice young dog just failed in length to first. Moved soundly with purpose. Coat could have just ben a little harsher. 3. Phillip’s, Romanchi Chawasha at Tendrow.

PGD. (6). 1. Abbott’s, Seaexpectation. Another good hound. As one would exprect from this kennel that has been well respected for decades. Neat and balanced, prehaps a little bit more drive would complete the picture, but this is nit picking. Nice wire coat, kind expression, correct bite and well constructed. 2. Patton’s, Lesandic Limestone Lad. Presented well by his seasoned exhibitor! I would have liked a slightly longer backed hound to balance this boy while on the move. But he is nicely made with correct bite. Harsh coat and a kind eye. 3. Coverley’s, Romanchi Choctaw.

LD. (5). 1. Kent’s, Leiblings Play in the Hay. I was disappointed in this class. Limit should be a strong and well contested. This lad just had the edge on the others by having a bit more length and therefore a bit more balanced. Harsh coat, bite ok. Movement fair. 2. Higgott’s, Sonic Sir Galahad. Well presented boy, but for me the head is too small. In profile and dog should look a colpete picture. But he has a good harsh coat, good bite and was sound. 3. Harris’s, Ritlo in Merry Mood.

OD. (6). 1. McCalmont’s, Ch. Silvae Pickwick. DCC and BOB. Well shown and presented lovely hound. Very sound moves with dribe. Very well made, typical of the standard. Everything in the right place. A pleasure to judge. 2. Moore’s, Ch/Ir Ch. Romanchi Comanchi. I gave this lad the RCC when he was a baby and he is still a very nice hound, but on the day lacked sparkle. Long and low to the ground with one of the best hind actions of the day. 3. Rees’s, Ch. Ermewood Jolly Roger.

MPB. (3). 1. Endersby’s, Mowbray Miss-In Form. 7 months old little girl with a nice coat, as with any puppy at this age movement can be a bit hit and miss, but she got her act together fairly well and was coping with the experience of a dog show. Nicely put together. 2. Knet’s, Liebling Sweet Charity. Rather a raw youngster and movement was somewhat erratice but there is plenty to like about her. If she were mine I would leave her at home for a few months to grow on a bit. 3. Higgott’s, Ashihna G Wiz at Elaton.

PB. (3). 1. Skinner’s, Ritterburg Witches Brew. BP and RBCC. Super harsh coated puppy. Pulled her handler around the ring at a good pace. I like to see a wire driving along with purpose. Nicely constructed with good lay back of shoulder and tight elbows. I foregave her slightly unsteady topline, she is only 9 months old. 2. Dible’s, Ritlo the Gypsys Fortune at Liebling. Another cracking puppt. Little to choose from either. Moved very soundly. Harsh coat, correct bite, well put together. Would have just liked a slightly larger head

JB. (11). 1. Skinner’s, Rotterburg Withes Brew. 2. Gordon’s, Cempsey Coquet. Very unlucky to met the winner as this is a very pleasing little girl. Looked a picture standing. She has a good reach of neck going into nicely well laid shoulders with subsequent good length. This all helps to produce a sound movement. 3. Phillip’s, Tendrow Sumthyne Special.

PGB. (6). 1. Gibson’s, Allfreys Genevieve. Litter sister to second in Junior Dog and I think she had the edge on her bother. Harsh coat, correct bite, had that bit of length which completes the picture. Fiar movement but I wrote in my notes, a good ‘doer’. 2. Abbott’s, Gayteckels Seainspiration. Another typical wire from Jersey! Liked her head shape a lot. Neat bitch with a good coat. Moved well enough fore and aft. 3. Gordon’s, Silvae Zlotty at Cempsey.

LB. (10). 1. Seath’s, Mowbray American Pie at Sunsong. Very well made sound bitch, well presented and shown. Lovely harsh coat, but personally I would like more furnishings. 2. Dible’s, Liebling on Golden Pond. Good coated red. Standing she looks lovely but dips her topline fractionally while on the move. Liked her expression. 3. Ryder’s, Sonic Nicht Sky to Jaskar.

OB. (5). Good class. 1. Harris’s, Ritlo Jewel in Ebony. BCC. Super bitch, commands the ring. Asked for and got her third ticket. Beautifully presented. Sound, covers the ground with drive. 2. McCalmont’s, Ch. Silvae Picnic. Another lovely bitch. The winner just had the edge on her on the day. Very well made, very sound, harsh coat, needs I say more!. 3. William’s, Silvae Piccolo.
