This is the first time that I have judged Wires at this level and I enjoyed it immensely, the temperament of the Wires is an absolute joy. Most of the coats were correct, a couple were soft, ribbing and length of ribbing in general was also good and of course so was bone, mouths need to be watched, some level bites and I found one well over shot.

 WIRE HAIR

DOGS: MP (4) 1 Clifford’s Winterstorm Symphony With Ablebody. B/r, good reach of neck, good lay back of shoulder, topline needs to firm up but that will come, wonderful outgoing nature, one to look out for in the future; 2 Gibson’s Allfreys Tristram. B/r d, good reach of neck and good topline on the move, not the length of winner, bit short in supper arm; 3 Mankins’ Birchman Sea Rover.

P (3) 1 Pattons’ Lesandnic Limestone Lad. B/r. Moved quite well but not the thrust from behind that one likes to see, good shoulder and topline; 2 Mankins’ Birchman Sea Rover. Was 3rd in previous class, was not so good in topline as the winner and not so sound in movement.

J (3) 1 Johnstone’s Silvae Fitzrobin. Red d and what a charmer. 11 mths old and so full of himself, this d has so much to like about him, good head reach of neck, good lay back of shoulder, nice strong hind quarters with good hind angulation, covers the ground well, he needs to settle down to his job but a dog as nice as this can be forgiven his high spirits, I was pleased to give him the RCC and BP; 2 Pattons’ Lesandnic Limestone Lad.

PG (2) 1 Johnstone’s Silvae Mogo. Quite a nice little d, moved with plenty of enthusiasm, nice head and good topline on the move, nicely balanced.

L (10) 1 Vines’ Cishelvine Auldlangsyne. B/r d, nicely balanced, good reach of neck and good topline on the move, good forehand, moved well; 2 Phillips’ Wells Sea Breeze At Tendrow. B/r. Moved quite well, kept his topline on the move, nice reach of neck, not the forechest of the winner; 3 Johnstone’s Silvae Ho Ho.

O (8) 1 Johnstone’s Silvae Touchstone. B/r. Another superb d from this kennel, good head, neck and topline on the move, good shoulder and strong hind quarters, covered plenty of ground on the move. I was pleased to give him the CC which I was told was his 3rd. Well done; 2 Moore’s Ch and Ir Ch Romanchi Comanche. Well known Ch but he was out of coat, he has a good reach of neck but I preferred the front and overall balance of 1; 3 Williams’ Ch Lieblings Pick ‘N’ Mix.

V (3) 1 Clifford’s Ch and Ir Ch Ablebody Pizzicato. B/r. Well balanced d, 8 yrs old and a worthy Ch, he has a good reach of neck and kept a good topline on the move and he covered the ground well with drive; 2 Matthews and Davies’ Alqudex On His Own At Banastre. Red d, not a lot between these two but the winner covered the ground a little bit better, with more drive from the rear.

BITCHES:

MP (4) 1 Gibson’s Allfreys Genevieve. B/r b of quality, good reach of neck and good topline on the move, she has a good layback of shoulder and strong hind quarters which she used to the full going round the ring, I was pleased to give her the RCC and also Best Minor Puppy, this girl will I am sure make a name for herself; 2 Clifford’s Nocturne Winter Night With Ablebody. B/r. Quite a nice b, good reach of neck and good topline but not the hind angulation of the winner which restricted her hind movement; 3 Mortlock’s Allfreys Rosalind Of Hertsmerry.

P (8) 1 A Genevieve; 2 Phillips’ Tendrow Sumthyne Special. B/r this b is v similar in type to the winner but she did not have such good hind angulation which does restrict the drive from behind; 3 Harmer’s Cempsey Corbiere Of Ballanroo.

J (3) 1 Johnson’s Sumojo How Business. Pity she stood on her own but quite a nice b, good reach of neck and kept a good topline on the move, nice turn of stifle, moved quite well.

PG (3) 1 S How Business; 2 Latters’ Terony Flo Jo At Speldax. Red b of a different type to the winner, she did not have the length of the winner and seeing as she carried a bit of weight this made her look a bit square.

L (6) 1 Rollinson’s Moorsedge Black Berry. A v nice outline to this b with a classic type wire coat that looks like a smooth coat from a distance, she has a good reach of neck and good topline but not the drive from the rear that one likes to see when on the move; 2 Clifford’s Ablebody Operetta. Quite a nice b but I think she could do with losing a little bit of weight over the shoulders, this would I think make her look more elegant; 3 Latters’ Terony Flo Jo At Speldax.

O (6) 1 Johnstone and McCalmont’s Ch Silvae Picnic. B/r b of quality, v good forechest, shoulder and topline on the move, her overall outline is classic and so sound, it gave me great pleasure to award her the CC and BOB; 2 Poulter’s Ch Lankelly Black Bryony. A well known Ch who has most of what you look for in a Ch but today she had to give way to the younger b who had the edge; 3 Gordon’s Silvae Gemstone At Cempsey.

V (2) 1 Poulter’s Lankelly Betony. B/r nearly 9 yrs old but she can still put her best foot forward, good reach of neck and good topline, moved with drive. BV; 2 Latters’ Teckelgarth Queen Bee At Speldax. Another nice old lady enjoying her day out but she was beaten today on all over movement.
