SMOOTH HAIRED

PD (2) 1 Norton’s Matzell Man of the Moment. Striking red with a delightful headpiece, strength and masculinity without coarseness. Scores in neck, depth and length of ribcage, well muscled hindquarters with well let down hocks. Spotless in jacket and moved out with drive. 2 Macdonald’s Bensarka Phoenix Sun. Another positively gleaming with well being. I liked him a lot too, just thinking he is slightly longer in loin that the winner. His head is a delight, lovely eyes, expression and muzzle finish. Holds himself well, arching his neck to advantage and he too is pleasing on the move. I see is brother to the BP.

PD (2) 1 Higgins’ Leveliss This Charming Man. B/t which is shapely in stance. Very good skull & muzzle planes, very dark well shaped eyes and well placed ears all combine to give appeal. Excellent keel and front, well ribbed, perhaps could have a tad more bend of stifle but he has good feet and moved out well. 2 Tite & Eales’ Rijobeau Caught Red Handed. No doubting this red dogs sex – all male in head,, big ribcage, lovely underline which does not cut up quickly, tail well set into a well rounded rump and he was in mint coat condition. Needs to settle in front action as he is a trifle jaunty!

JD (2,1) 1 Jeffrey’s Carpaccio Summer Class at Andax. Pleasing head type, more neck would enhance his outline, nice keel and underline, tail bit high set, hocks well let down and his side action is smooth.

PGD (2) 1 Bethel & Payton’s Hampdach Gild Quest. This red scores in his rib development, firm back, rise over the loin (which could be that bit shorter), super fore assembly and keel. He has a good head, well shaped eyes and ears well carried. Side action is balanced but he goes away somewhat wide behind. 2 Britt’s Ryepiece Royal Wurka this b/t is totally different to the winner, being shorter in head length and unfortunately his eyes are roundish which detract from his expression. I liked his reach of neck, ribcage, short coupling and well set and carried tail. He made very heavy weather of moving in the grass ring.

LD (7) 1 & Res CC McNaughton’s Born to Boogie. A lovely red dog to go over on the table and looks every inch a Ch. He is so well put together, everything harmonious, curves where they need to be and he has ample substance throughout. Regrettably he never really settled to move out with the free striding action of the CC winner in the challenge. 2 Turner’s Rafthouse Non Peecee. A lovely dog to go over and looks a serious contender. His shape is a delight to the eyes, he has a good headpiece and looks a potential winner. However, under me he never really adapted to the conditions when moving being quite unsettled and erratic. 3 Chambers’ Rijobeau I Swear Ya Honour at Viewmoor.

OD (4,1) 1 & CC Hunt’s Lauralee Living Daylights at Carpaccio. Benefits from immaculate presentation, good handling and having that glad to be here attitude. Strongly made all through, well boned, shapely outline, eye catching profile action and what a showman. 2 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Galadrim b/t not in the stunning coat condition of the winner. He has a delightful head, lovely reach of neck and his ribbing is spot on. I liked his size and length /height ratios. Although he is sound in action, he lacked the firmness in backline of the winner as they circled the ring together. 3 Bethel’s Ch Hampdach Pyrrus.

MPB (2) 1 & Res CC Macdonald’s Bensarka Golden Garter. A totally charming young red of correct size and substance. Stunning headpiece which is clean cut, powerful jaws, good muzzle with really beautiful eyes for size, colour and expression. The neck has length and is arched, her angulations are so good, the ribcage well developed and she moves out with an ease and purpose which is a delight to see. A worthy winner of BP & the Res CC over some classy bitches. 2 Riseborough’s Matzell Maid Specially this b/t was very raw and unsure of herself. Needs lots of time and experience of the show ring to really make the most of her virtues.

PB (3) 1 Cooper’s Hacienda Lo N Behold its Sontag. This red is very mature in body, was in stunning coat condition, body firm and well muscled. Her head has good length, powerful muzzle and perfect mouth. Looks the part in stance but I feel she could show more hock drive on the move 2 Higgins’ Leveliss What She Said. Another b/t which gave me glimpses of looking the part then became a shrinking violet. Pity as she does have lots to admire and with a little more self belief she would look so much better. Won her on her shape, head quality and outline. 3 William’s & Jones’ Rijobeau Innit to Wuinnite by Cwmdarhian.

PGB (1) 1 Wilkinson’s Hampdach Saving Grace. Light red, pleasing skull, muzzle could be stronger and more filled, enough reach of neck, well sprung ribs, loin fairly short and well angulated hindquarters. Another which never really extended herself in the grass ring when asked to move.

LB (3,1) 1 Hunt’s Lauralee Miss Chokky Wokey at Carpaccio. Substantial bitch, pleasing head, very good keel and fore assembly, level back, well set tail, could do with more second thigh in hindquarters but moved out well enough to win this class. 2 Britt’s Starlight von Ryepiece. Sound moving b/t with a good head, eyes well coloured, good ears and sufficient arch to her neck. She is well ribbed and was in good coat. Sound on the up and down but I felt she could have shown more positive hock action in profile.

OB (7) 1 CC & BOB Norton’s Ch. Matzell Mildred. This red is very much me. Nothing coarse or common in this one, lovely headpiece, exquisite expression, long well arched neck, good oval front, well boned forelegs and good feet. She has ample ribbing, the underline is good, her backline stunning and she is a sound mover. Spotless in muscle and coat presentation I was happy to send her into the Group. 2 McNaughton’s Cedavoch I Love to Boogie. This quality bitch is a shade heavier all through than the winner but she has shape, style bags of quality, one of the best fronts of the day and she is the equal of the best on the move. I just preferred the eye and expression of the winners of the CC & Res CC. 3 Armstrong’s Ch. Lauralee Peeping Fawn
