I was so proud to be invited by the Royal Kennel Club to Judge Long Haired Dachshunds at Crufts 2024, Sunday 10th March. Many thanks to all those that exhibited under me, My classes were full of extremely good quality Dogs. Also I would like to give a big thank you to my two stewards, who did a magnificent job in looking after me. I thoroughly enjoyed my Judging. Thank you to all those that made it possible.

The Males had some of the best dogs I have ever had the pleasure to go over. The Bitches had full of Promise with some also outstanding quality there. You should all be proud of what you have.

Puppy Dog. 7 Entries.

1st. Hanney-Mitchell’s  Dachyclan Lochlan At Bronia. Dog Res CC & BP. A super addition to the breed. A young dog, full of promise, stands out in many ways and as he matures will be a great winner I’m sure. Super masculine head, dark eye, good reach of neck and shoulder placement. Correct depth of ribbing and sound movement. There is little to fault this dog on, soundly constructed, lovely movement and shows a clean pair of pads as he drives away from you with such drive and determination. Well presented. A real eye catcher.  Will watch his future.

2nd. Cross’s  Breezelyn Long Way To Go To Loggeta. A very nice Dog, also full of promise, Sound movement, keeps his topline at all times, built to correct proportions. So well presented! Good shoulder placement onto tight feet. Quite a handsome dog in good coat.

3rd. Pike & Carter’s  Breezelyn Love You Long Time. Excellent  head, dark eye. Good well presented coat, moved well, keeping his topline.

Junior Dog. 1 Entry.

1st. Vincent’s  Breezelyn Long Awaited At Gaincroft.  A stand-alone dog, but that was no detriment to his placing. A pleasing dog to go over, needs to mature but has the time to do so. Good movement soundly constructed. Correct shaped head, dark eyes, correct in shoulder, nice depth of sternum, good hind angulation

Post Graduate Dog.  3 Entries.

1st. Fricker’s  Sundayshill Theodore At Borzdac. Fought  hard for his place in this class. Well constructed overall, Correct front assembly, head, neck, angulation onto tight well kept feet. Shoulders and hind angulation were adequate.  Presented well, gleaming coat. Moved soundly.

2nd. O’Neill;s  Ranglewood Finlaggan At Donnadach. Very much in keeping with first, with no exaggerated faults or movement. Nicely presented, and he showed himself really well, on the move.

3rd.  Kay’s  Kenzduo Quartz Bright. This class had 3 dogs of similar type, all were of good construction and movement,

Limit Dog.  8 Entries.

1st. Taylor & Hilton’s  Delsaux Across The Universe. A good type to go over, and was sound in movement. Flowing movement at a determined pace, keeping his topline both standing and on the move. His outline looked good and was correct to the feel under examination.

2nd. Paskins’.  Cedavoch It’s Taboo At Kindeace. Well presented, showed himself well and moved soudly. He was constructed quite well, good head, eye, reach of neck, sound front assembly overall.

3rd. Sutton’s  Kindeace Texas Tornado At Damai. I have Judged this dog before and he has lost nothing with the passage of time. Shown well, which he obviously enjoys and kept his handler on her toes. Lovely to see him go so well.

Open Dog.  6 Entries.

1st. Roberts’  Ch Swansford Gabrieldor.  Dog CC & BOB. Well not sure where to start or finish here. To me he was everything that I would be super proud to own and show. He has so much charisma and character, is built to nearly perfection, and moves so right, sound, and looks a million dollars. From when he came in the ring to getting his award he behaved and presented himself, with such ring presence, which is something lacking in the Breed at times. One of the finest dogs I have had the pleasure to examine. I just couldn’t fault him, his build, construction, condition or movement. Outstanding and he knew it. I definitely had no hesitation in awarding him the Dog CC and BOB.

2nd. Cross’  Ch Loggeta Trouble In Texas. Sh Ch. Unfortunate to have someone like first place in the class with him. A well constructed  dog to go over, sound in build and movement, Probably amongst my first three best dogs today. Little to criticise and everything to commend.

3rd. Pike, Carter & Harris’  Zarcrest  Huw Grant. Really tough class to be in, but was not lacking in anything. Overall sound and well constructed with good movement.

Good Citizens Dog Scheme. Dog. 3 Entries

1st. Linacre’s  Swansford Carazonador. A really nice Dog in great condition, well constructed, making movement correct and sound. Pleasing shaped head and dark eye. Has a good forechest and depth of ribbin,. with no exaggerated faults to criticise. Lovely Dog to own.

2nd. Garlick’s Ranglewood Harvest Song. A good overall type, well presented and handled, moved well and true at all times. Sound overall well constructed Dog.

3rd. Wood’s  Faulksfollie Lord Fontaroy. Good head and eye, nice tight dropdown, good shoulder placement, and hind angulation. A nice overall type.

Veteran Bitch. 5 Entries.

1st. Cook & Rhodes’  Ch Bournder Ruby Empress. A super 12 year old Lady, trying and giving her best  today. So great to see her expressing how much she was enjoying the day. A credit to both owner and Breeder. Lovely to go over and watch her strut round the ring.

2nd. Borsuk & Fossett’ s  Baltic Legacy Via Amberteckel. 8 year old, again did not look her age, Her movement was good, she looked great, and was well constructed.
