Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Great Joint Dachshund Association for inviting me to judge at their last ever show a memorable day. A warm welcome and super buffet lunch was very much appreciated.
Thank you to all the exhibitors that gave me an entry allowing me to go over their dogs. I will say that the standard in exhibits was very high and looking at the other varieties there were very few issues that I noted. I had one that was undershot and a couple of shaded red with pale eye rims I would say that this is something that the breed does need to watch. Shaded reds always look so right with the black eye liner on the eyes so with exhibits with black nails and black noses I was rather surprised. Those points aside the standard was very high your dogs are a credit to you.

Shaded red pup who was well covered. He had a good head with almond eyes and black rims. Good ear set. Shoulders flowing into adequate ribbing good rear angulation allowing him to move with purpose. BDP

Red pup that was finer than 1 I would like a little more body/coverage as a 6-month-old baby. Lovely conical head and eye, adequate ribbing, and loin. Moved well to and fro just not the maturity of his brother.

Shaded red dog standard type from this kennel Correct size and shape, beautiful head and dark eye, excellent front, good, barrelled chest and length of ribbing. Strong, well angulated quarters which gave good free movement around the ring.

Shaded red dog, well-constructed with good head shape and strong under jaw, prominent fore chest with good keel, good ground clearance, good length of ribbing - well muscled rear , moved well
2nd TEKALHAUS THE EXCELSIOR ShCex MR P P & MRS D J CLARKE.
Slightly taller than 1, however a close decision. Strong masculine head with a lovely dark almond eye and well-placed ears. Good length of neck coat in superb condition (I would dread the drying of that true dedication) . Good topline, and well sprung ribs moved well.

Dark shaded red dog of superb quality. Another with a fantastic coat. He has a super head, with well set ears, long, strong neck going into a well laid shoulder and equal length return of upper arm. Correct body proportions with adequate clearance, good ribbing, and short strong loin. Strong well angulated rear, super movement, could have done with a bigger ring to get the full picture. DCC BOS

Another worthy champion super shaded red dog in perfect condition. Conical head, almond eye with dark rims, long neck which flows into correct shoulders. Good length of rib and strong rear angulation which allowed hm to move with purpose, RDCC.

14-month-old black and tan girl. Good front, head, and eye. Nice length of ribbing with strong loin. Good turn of stifle, moved with drive always keeping her topline.

Black and tan bitch litter sister to 1 another quality bitch of good size, good coat, and condition. Lovely head and expression, long neck running into well laid shoulders with good keel lovely in movement. These 2 will change places often.

Silver dapple girl more body covering than one. Nice head and eye, I would like a little more length of rib but had nice rear angulation and moved with purpose around the ring.

Red bitch again with good shape slightly shorter in body than 1 lovely correct head and eye shape, good sloping shoulders with tight elbows. Good bend of stifle and moved with drive close decision for place.
