I wish to pass on my sincere thanks to the very hard-working officers and committee working in very trying circumstances. I congratulate you on running this happy show with fabulous big rings. Thanks to my brilliant stewards running the ring to perfection. and exhibitors for their sportsmanship and remaining jolly throughout.

All exhibits were clean and well-presented, temperaments were excellent.

I have been away from the rings for a while so had a fresh pair of eyes not knowing the latest fashion. Social media should be avoided prior to judging as this does no one any favours. Size and type is more varied than ever. No one particular fault to pick up on, which I feel is a good thing, nothing of any real concern. I think we need to study pedigrees more carefully and not panic as the gene pool is smaller now, just be careful and stick to good sound honest types.

This was reflected in my main winners with strength in lower classes and top classes with bigger variation of type in the middle classes.

Special Beginners Dog/Bitch (4,2 Abs)

These classes are a great opportunity for new people to the breed to learn on the job and study experienced exhibitors in the ring, so good to see new people entering our breed.

1st: VINCENT’S Metadale Monica at Gainscroft

Very young inexperienced baby but has many good qualities, needs to gain experience, good overall balance shape should bring her owners a few nice wins next year.

2nd: VINCENT’S Tan Socks at Gainscroft-sweet girl well made all through but rather too small, giving her owner a lot of confidence, which was a joy to see.

Minor Puppy Dog (2 Entries)

Two promising babies with bright futures.

1st: BOOTH ELSLEY Abbalongdat I Had a Dream

Well grown puppy for 8 months, strong masculine head, good shoulder angulation, still needs to tighten in elbow excellent length of rib and firm topline, correct hind angulation allowing good drive so moved well, has a bright future when mature.

2nd: BOOTH ELSLEY Abbalongdat One of Us

Litter brother to winner, obviously similar remarks apply, easy to say he is just less mature, being softer in topline and a little loose all through at present. but still has all the same qualities and will swap places on many occasions.

Puppy Dog (3)

1st: ROBERTS Swansford Gabrieldor

Much has already been written about this youngster and I was not disappointed. He is of correct size and good proportions. Excellent head, reachy neck, correct shoulder placement ample forechest and upper arm. Good length of ribbing, neat underline and super hid angulation. Has a mature coat finishing off a good balanced honest dog. Moving he is outstanding with great reach and drive. Still a puppy with the world at his feet, a joy to award him RCC,BP and delighted to see him go BPIS congratulations.

2nd: REES Sundayshill Blackberry

Not disgraced being 2nd behind the winner, another with well chiselled head, good length of neck, ribbing and keeping firm topline. Muscular dog in good hard condition, Well angulated and strong drive. Looked good in profile and stacked.

3rd: EVE Sundayshill Benedict

Junior Dog (2,1 Abs)

1st: HOPPENBROUWERS Telkel Catch Me if You Can

Very stylish Taller type, Nice head of good proportions with dark eye. Good reach of neck well filled forechest, tight elbows, correct forehand. Ribbing carried well back. Well let down quarters. Moved soundly with drive.

Post Graduate Dog (7, 2 Abs)

As expected, a class of various types and sizes.

1st: BOOTH ELSLEY Abbalongdat Eagle

Lovely masculine Stallion type dog. Good head and neck flowing into good lay of shoulder. Balanced length of upper arm. Muscular firm topline, powerful and balanced on the move, fills the eye when stacked. Moved with purpose and drive around the ring

2nd: CHAPMAN Africandawns Justin N Time for Melminds

Honest type, not over flashy and one you need to get your hands on to appreciate, well made all through, much more workmanlike, with strong topline and excellent ribbing. Powerful rear drive and covers the ground well.

3rd: DUCHENES Darsoms Zyjosh of Scandell

Limit Dog (8, 1 Abs)

A couple were on the large size in this class, this need watching.

1st: NEGUS Tarramist Iron Man

Plenty to like with this is a dog of correct size, elegant head, good neck, shoulders and front assembly, strong topline, plenty of rib, well-shaped hind quarters, moves with ease, powerful yet elegant. Totally fills the eye, no hesitation awarding him this class, pressed hard in the challenge.

2nd: CHAPMAN Melminds Zsylvester ShCM

Quality type, Lovely head and expression, good shoulder placement, excels in rear angulation. Prefer his size, not overdone in any area, very balanced stacked and moving.

3rd: MARKS Labbadax Latimer Kansas

Open Dog (6 Entries)

Again, variety in type and size, but all quality

Smaller type but so well put together and in great condition., One I really admired, excellent head, neck, shoulders, good front, plenty of rib, neat underline, powerful well-made rear and a joy to watch on the move, Gave a good account in the challenge close up for sure.

2nd: GARLICK Ranglewood Arashi

Again, smaller but with excellent proportions. Elegant head, and good shaped eye, plenty of reach of neck, good length and strong hind quarters. Well balanced and sound all through, moves steadily covering the ground with ease. Stacked looks a picture.

3rd:  MARKS Labbadax Lewisville Texas

Veteran Dog (4, 1 Abs)

One thing Dachshund breeders and exhibitors can always be proud of, our veterans! Proof that quality and maturity go together, dachshunds are built to last and we have over the years had some excellent veterans. Today was no exception.

1st: COOK & RHODES Abydachs Rides the Storm to Bournder

Put down to perfection, in tip top condition. I feel This dog should already have his title, correct size, elegant head, good neck, shoulders and front assembly. Strong topline, plenty of rib, well-shaped hind quarters, moves with ease and verve, leaving some of the youngsters behind. Powerful yet elegant. Totally fills the eye from all angles, no hesitation awarding him the CC in a very strong line up. Put in a faultless performance to take BOB, BV and eventually BVIS brilliant!

2nd: NEGUS Tarramist Adonis Dream ShCM

Another quality old gentleman still in good hard condition. Has many good qualities and is a great example of the old established bloodlines producing soundness and quality.

3rd: DUCHESNES Darsoms Zane of Scandell

Minor Puppy Bitch (4, 3 abs)

1st: METCALFE-BILGIN Metadale Margarita

Well put together baby, Pretty head, good shoulders and front assembly, held firm top and underline, plenty of rear angulation, moved well for her age and had ring presence, promising baby. BPB

2nd: CHAPMAN Melminds Make them Gold

Well put together youngster, good head and front assembly, scores well in topline and rear angulation. Needs time to fill this framework. Although well matured in body she is very much a baby in his mind.

3rd: VINCENT Metadale Monica at Gainscroft

Puppy Bitch – No Entries

Junior Bitch (4,2 Abs)

1st:  CHAPMAN Africandawns Betty Can’t at Melminds

Another well-proportioned sound mover, beautiful head and ample neck, neat underline, excellent shoulder placement and rear angulation. Topline just needs to firm and settle down as she matures.

2nd: VINCENT Tan Socks at Gainscroft

Post Graduate Bitch (5, 1 Abs)

1st: NEGUS Dachslur Diamond Desire at Tarramist

Well-shaped all through, nice head and eye, good shoulder placement, front and plenty of length, well ribbed and tidy underline. Correct coat. So sound, moved true coming and going retaining her firm topline and covers the ground with ease.

2nd: BOOTH ELSLEY Raphaela Rude to Abbalongdat

Taller type, well proportioned, good head and eye, well angulated, another moving true and keeping her outline. Close up to winner.

3rd:  CHAPMAN Melminds Marina Diamonds

Limit Bitch (6, 2 Abs)

 Strong class of quality ladies.

1st: CLARKE Tekalhaus Million to One ShCM

Good sized classic style honest bitch. Excellent type winning this strong class. Excels in head, eye, reachy neck, well ribbed, strong top and underlines, well-shaped hind quarters, lovely depth of keel, moved soundly and with ease. Good furnishings and beautifully put together, pushed hard in the challenge with her overall soundness and elegance.

2nd: GARLICK Ranglewood Trick or Treat

Smaller and finer type than winner, Well proportioned, good front, shoulders and well off for ribbing. Nicely angulated, well covered body, nice shaped feet. Moved with ease again retaining a good shape at all times.

3rd: EVE Sundayshill Hermione

Open Bitch (8 Entries)

An incredibly strong and quality class all worthy of titles in my opinion, great news for the breed, terrifying to judge, really hair splitting as so much choice. Will all change places on many occasions. Thank you

1st:  LARKIN IR Ch Darsoms Zaneeta

Really Excellent type winning this very strong class. Excels in head, eye, reachy neck, well ribbed, strong top and underlines, well-shaped hind quarters, lovely depth of keel, moved soundly and with ease powering around the ring. Gleaming condition with correct furnishings so beautifully put together, she was pushed hard in the challenge, but her overall soundness and elegance won her this class and her first CC. I am sure her title will come.

2nd: ROBERTS Ch Swansford Gemmadora

Quality oozes from this girl, different type to winner, stockier build but not lacking elegance, not over done in any area, good overall shape and balance, totally sound all through and moves so easily with grace. Very worthy of being a champion, discovered she is mother to BP and what a good job she has done. When back to her full glory more top honours will be hers again RCC

3rd:  MCNAUGHTON Ch Cedavoch Circe

Veteran Bitch (4, 1 Abs)

1st: METCALFE-BILGIN Metadale Midsummer Dream

Pretty bitch who again shows how well this breed can carry their age.  Well-constructed front and rear which she can still use with purpose on the move. Good head and neck. Keeping her outline both standing and on the move. A credit to her owner.

2nd: PASKINS Ch Abydachs Summer Dream at Kindeace ShCM

Have admired this girl from ringside, she moves out so well. Good neck into strong topline which she held both standing and on the move.  Balanced front and rear. Moved positive and true.
