An honour to be invited to judge at this Club Show especially as it is considered the "blue ribbon" of all Dachshund Club. The entry of 65 was pleasing for numbers even with two major kennels being unable to complete due to officiating on other varieties here. I last judged this variety in 2012 so a healthy gap of six years filled me full of anticipation as to what I would be presented with. There was a degree of types to choose from which made some decisions difficult, but there is one issue that I must draw attention too, and that is size. Our KC Breed Standard states 20-26lbs with no difference between male or females. I feel however the problem lies within some of our males. Interestingly when a miniature tips the scales for a few ounces they are penalised, but when a standard is clearly over 26lbs many clearly look the other way! To finish on a positive note, I thank Mr Paul Hayes and Mrs Joanne Beddoe my two efficient stewards who kept everything running smoothly.*Sp Beginners D* (1) 1 Dimon, Labbadax Insiration for Dimerlin. Fair exhibit throughout. Score with his conical shaped head which is houndy in outline, eye and expression is pleasing. Neck and fore quarters are ok with sufficient in rib. Top line is level and he has sufficient bone; however feet could be tighter. Whilst on the go around his outline is pleasing. I would have preferred more positive rear drive but was well presented. *MPD* (2,1) 1 Booth-Elsey, Abbalongdat Eagle. Quality baby with so much promise. Scores in head, which is masculine and of the correct conical shape with plenty in fore face. Good in eye which gives off a gentle expression. Plenty in neck with very good ribbing. Holds a good top line and stands on good bone with compact feet. It's obvious at this early stage he needs to firm up all round. Time and maturity will correct this. As usual from this kennel, presentation was excellent. Just lost out to the Puppy Dog winner on maturity but should have a bright future. *PD* (2) 1 Mitchell, Bronia Dartagnan. A quality youngster with an eye catching outline. Pleasing to go over on the table with his correct proportions in head which has a correct eye and expression. Really good neck which flows into a well laid shoulder with plenty in fore chest. Excellent in rib with a correct top line and underline. Croup and tail set is good all finished off with a well angulated rear. He stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. He moved out with true purpose once settled holding a pleasing outline on the go around. Best Puppy Dog today. 2 Johnson & Cross, Africandawns Night Tropper. Another with good merits to admire. Head is masculine of the correct conical shape with a kind eye and expression. Reachy in neck with a level top line. Felt he would benefit for more length in rib. In profile he stands on more leg than the winner but did move out ok and was well presented. *JD* (4) 1 Marks, Labbadax Latimer Kansas. A new one to me and I found him pleasing to go over. Scores with his correct conical head which is masculine with a kind eye and expression. Plenty in neck with a well filled fore chest. He keeps his elbows tight to his ribcage which has good length which in turn leads to a firm loin. His rear is well angulated, finished off with firm parallel hocks. Bone and feet are good. On the move e gave off such a pleasing outline on the go around and was positive going away displaying parallel rear drive. Presented in good order and today only attending his third show. Should, if judged fairly, have a bright future. Pleased to award him the Reserve CC! 2 Lewis, Trixhund Paddington Bear. I have praised this exhibits quality recently in all breeds competition. There's no denying he has quality throughout and is of the more correct size and so well balanced, but I did prefer the better length in head of the winner and the slightly more fluid action on the move. Having said that this exhibit will continue to please others. Presentation was one hundred percent. 3 Hutton, Abbilis Theoden by Dachalune. *PGD* (7) 1 Marks, Labbadax Lewisville Texas. Litter brother to previous class winner. So much alike and most remarks are similar. Liked him in head, eye and expression. Plenty in neck and fore chest with ample ribbing. Top line is firm with a good loin. He stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. Whilst he holds an eye catching outline on the go around his is not as positive in his rear movement as his brother. Again though presentation was excellent. 2 Burke & Manson, Bonvoir Bean Geste. Not easy to ignore this exhibit who has plenty to admire throughout. Masculine head proportions which is of the correct council shape. Kind in eye and expression. Plenty in neck with good depth in rib. Level in top line with a firm loin. He stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. Held a good profile on the go around but did move rather wide whilst going away. Nevertheless presentation was excellent and handled well. 3 Hutton, Abbilis Theoden by Dachalune. *L *(6) Difficult class with varying degrees of type! 1 Larkin, Larkhund Ollie. An exhibit with plenty to admire all through and who is of medium size. Handsome in head which has correct balance with a kind eye and correct expression. Reachy in neck with plenty in fore chest. Level in top line which leads to a firm loin. He has good angles in his rear which he used to good advantage. Powered around the ring whilst holding an eye catching outline. Presented in good order but I felt he would benefit for carrying a little more weight. Worthy winner of this class though. 2 Duchese, Darsoms Zamba of Scanell. Has plenty to admire all through. Masculine in head with a correct eye and expression. Plenty in neck with a well filled fore chest. Good in rib with a level top line. Firm in loin and he stands on good bone with neat feet. Just wished that he gave more on the move. Well presented. 3 Bushelll, Rangelwood Harvest Hops. *OD* (7) Good class to sort out! 1 Mitchell, Ch Bronia True Legacy. First time for me to judge this top draw exhibit who presented a pleasing picture to admire. His head is true which is of the correct conical shape with a lovely eye and expression. Reachy in neck with a well-constructed front assembly with good development in fore chest. Excellent in top line which leads to a firm loin with correct croup and tail set; all finished off with a well angulated rear. His bone has good strength with neat well-padded feet. Overall he combines masculinity with a touch of elegance which is hard to ignore. On the go around he presents an eye catching outline with correct foot falls on the out and back. Presented in excellent order. Pleased to award him the CC and BoB. Looked good in the line-up for Best in Show! 2 Garlick, Ranglewood Arashi. You have to go over this exhibit to appreciate his qualities. Handsome in head which has the correct shape with a gentle eye and expression. Reachy in neck with sufficient fore chest. He would benefit for a little more length in rib but its marginal. Top line and tail set is correct all finished off with a well angulated rear. Again another that pleased on the go around whilst holding a true outline. Presented in good order. 3 McNaughton, Cedavoch the Archemist. Completing a trio of quality exhibits. No disgrace here, places will change!*Vet D* (4) 1 Hutton, Ch River Rumpus Through Dachalune Sh Cm. Good for overall breed type and is of the correct overall size. Classic in head with a good eye and expression. Plenty in neck with a good front assembly. Excellent in ribbing with a firm top line and loin. He stands on good bone with compact feet. On the move he actually was one of only handful that displayed excellent rear drive which was clearly parallel whilst holding a true outline on the go around. He was presented in "A1" order. Pleased to award him Best Veteran in Breed and witness him still putting a flawless performance for Best Veteran in Show! 2 Marks and Johnson, Africandawns Night Hawk. Has plenty to admire all through Good for overall breed type. Scores in head, eye and expression. Neck and front assembly correct with plenty in ribbing. Good strength in bone with compact feet. Just not as animated on the move as the winner. 3 Duchesne, Darsoms Zane of Scandell. *MPB* (3) Good class, places will change! 1 Booth-Elsley, Abbalongdate Under Attack. Litter sister to the minor puppy dog winner. Feminine all through with a pleasing head and expression. Shapley in overall out line and is forward in body. She has good bone with compact feet. Once she settled she put her best foot forward to claim this class. 2 Johnson, Africandawns Eileen. Over raw baby at the moment but that to be expected. Has plenty to admire throughout. Head, eye and expression is pleasing. Neck and front assembly is correct. Bone and feet are good carrying a lot of puppy fat today but does show promise. 3 Lewis, Trixhund Hi De Hi, completing a trio of promising young ladies. *PB* (1) 1 Mitchell, Bronia the Duchess. Absolutely top draw exhibit that screams type. Excellent in head which is of the correct conical shape with a dark eye and melting expression. Neck just flows into a clean well laid shoulder. Ribbing is excellent with a firm top line which leads to a correct croup and tail set finished off with a well angulated rear. She has good length in body and is so pleasing on the eye. In profile moved out with true purpose on the out and back with a pleasing side gate. Pleased to award her BPIB and could not ignore her in the line-up, so claimed the RCC. Should go on to bigger and better things! *JB* (6) 1 Lewis, Trixhund Lemon Curd. Quality exhibit with plenty to admire throughout. Correct for overall balance and size. Feminine proportions in head with a gentle eye and melting expression. Plenty in neck with a clean front assembly with plenty in fore chest. She scores in rib with a level top line which leads to a well angulated rear. She stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. Whilst she displayed accurate foot falls she does give her handler a hard time; just needs to concentrate on the job in hand then will be a contender for higher awards! 2 McNaughton, Cedavoch Sweetest Taboo. Whilst this exhibit has plenty to admire with many of the attributes as the winner and I'm sure places will change, I admired her on the go around but for me she moved away to close in hear rear but was accurate in her front action. 3 Larking, Darsoms Zaneeta. *PGB* (8) 1 Burke & Manston, Bonavoir Ermintrude. Quality exhibit to go over of a pleasing type. Feminine head which has correct conical shape with a correct eye which enhances her expression. She has plenty in neck with a well filled fore chest. Front assembly is good with a firm top line which leads to a well angulated rear. Moved out on the out and back with accurate foot falls and held a pleasing outline on the go around. Presented in good order. 2 Garlick, Ranglewood Trick or Treat. Another with plenty to admire. Scores with her feminine well-proportioned head with a good eye and expression. Plenty in neck with good ribbing. Top line is correct which leads to good croup and tail set. Her bone has quality with good feet. Moved out with purpose and was well presented. I just preferred the extra leg length of the winner. 3 Eve, Sundayshill Hermione. *LB* (7) 1 Cross, Glasvey Double Trouble for Loggeta JW. All quality exhibit with plenty to admire. Correct conical head shape with a good eye which gives off a gentle expression. Reachy in neck with a clean front assembly. Excellent in ribbing with a firm loin. Top line croup and tail set are all correct finished off with a well angulated rear. She has quality in bone with neat compact feet. Presentation was one hundred percent. On the out and back her footfalls were accurate whilst holding such a pleasing outline on the go around. Appeared to hold back somewhat later on in the challenge. 2 Geeson, Abydachs Kumala. Another quality exhibit with so much to admire. Elegant in overall outlook with a correct head, eye and expression. Good in front assembly with plenty in rib. Firm in top line which leads to a strong loin. She stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. Moved out with style whilst holding a pleasing outline on the go around. Close up indeed! 3 Metcalfe-Bilgin, Metadale Marcella, completing a trio of quality girls. *OB* (4) Good class! 1 Geeson Abydachs Micaval. Such an eye catching individual of above average merit. She combined elegance with substance. Super in head, eye and expression. Reachy in neck with a clean well laid shoulder with plenty in fore chest. Top line is excellent which she held at all times. Ribbing has good length with a firm loin. Croup and tail set are correct. She stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. It's on the move she is difficult to ignore; displaying accurate foot falls on the out and back whilst holding an eye catching outline on the go around. Despite her kennel mates attempt to sabotage her chances it was not enough to stop her gaining the CC. Put up a fight for BoB. Nevertheless I'm sure her crown is just around the corner. 2 McNaughton Ch Cedavoch Circe. No denying that this exhibit is full of quality with excellent breed type. Scores in head, eye and expression. Elegant in overall outline with plenty in rib. Top line and tail set good. Quality in bone with correct feet. Presented in good order. A worthy "Ch" indeed. 3 Garlick, Ranglewood Laurel. *Vet B * (2) 1 Mitchell, Ch Bronia Callista. Real glamour girl this one with plenty to admire all through. Feminine qualities in head which is of the correct shape. Good in eye with a gentle expression. Plenty in neck with excellent ribbing. Solid in top line with a firm loin all finished off with a well angulated rear. Moved out with positive rear drive and held a pleasing profile on the go around. BVB. 2 Garlick Ch Ranglewood Genista. Yet another Quality exhibit who is pleasing to go over. Scores with her ultra-feminine head proportions. Lovely in eye and expression. Reachy in neck with plenty in rib. Top line and tail set are good and she stands on good bone with neat feet. Another that put her best foot forward, especially on the go around. Presented in good order. A worthy "Ch" indeed. 3 Dimon, Dimerlin Isolde. *Martin Sanders*
