My thanks to the Club for this appointment which I really enjoyed, a friendly reception and well looked after throughout the day. Excellent stewards who kept me on track, thank you. Also many thanks to the exhibitors for their entries which were appreciated, only marred by the high number of absentees, it was an exceptionally hot day and unfortunately clashed with Hound day at Richmond. One or two weight issues in MLH but the MSH were all of correct weight. Mouths overall were very good, as were temperaments. PD (1) 1 Phillips Summerview Hello Hugo Best Dog, Best of Breed, Best Puppy, Best In Show, Best Puppy In Show! - Such an eyecatching black and tan boy, I was delighted to watch him being chosen for Best In Show and subsequently Best Puppy In Show over some lovely Dachshunds. 11 month male in lovely gleaming coat and condition. Good head properties and dark eyes of good shape, correctly placed ears of good length and width, strong neck and good shoulder placement with upper arm correctly angled around a deep chest with prominent forechest. Good ribbing and strong loin, excellent tail carriage, strong broad quarters which he used well to produce movement so true and sound. Correct weight yet still well bodied. PGD (4,3) 1 Findlay Hanburydax Lord Oliver Well coated cream male of substance. Good head with dark eyes and well set ears. Good forechest and well angulated front and rear quarters, tidy feet. Strong loin and level topline, correctly carried tail, moved true. Carrying a little too much weight. OD (4,3) 1 Wallace Ralines Just Jiles Reserve Best Dog Red male with a typical head and dark eyes, good ear placement, strong neck and well balanced front and rear angulation. Good forechest and ribbing. In good coat and condition, moved soundly and with precision. A little too much weight. MPB (2,1) 1 Aneke Dachadam Miss Guiness Black and cream baby in good coat for age. Feminine head and dark eyes. A little short in neck for balance but a decent front assembly with good ground clearance. Well bodied and a good weight. Balanced rear quarters and good tail carriage. Movement a little erratic. A little long in back. Pb (3,1) 1 Dalton Zilcan Crème Caramel Best Puppy Bitch Cream young lady who I thought would benefit from a little more coat to finish the picture. Good head with dark eyes. Good ear shape and placement, strong neck and correct shoulder placement with good return to upper arm, strode out really well. Good body condition and correct weight. A little long in back for balance but carried herself well on the move. 2 Weston & Johnson Ecotyne Witch On A Broom Black and tan with quite a small feminine head and ears, dark eyes. A little short in neck and elbows could be tidier. Shorter in back than 1 but not so true on the move. JB (2,1) 1 Holtom Rivandell Osha. Shaded pale red. Lovely head and dark eye, good ear shape. Correct length of neck and good forechest. Elbows could be tidier. A little out of coat at the moment. A little high on the hock for me but moved true and soundly. PGB (3,1) 1 McSorley Barlaine Golden Honey, Best Bitch, Best Opposite Sex. Red with such a typical head and expression and dark well shaped eyes. Good ears, correct neck and shoulder placement, good forechest and neat elbows. A little long in back but she carried herself really well, tidy feet and strong rear quarters. Good tail carriage. Moved soundly 2 Findlay Hanburydax Fleur Jac Cream and not so typical in head as 1 but with a sweet expression and dark eyes. Good ears, well balanced front and rear angulation, deep chest with good ground clearance. Shorter in back than 1 and moved happily. LB (2,1) 1 Findlay Hanburydax Phantom Lady. Cream with shading. Pretty head and dark eyes with good expression. Ears of good shape, size and placement. Good front and rear quarters, well bodied and moving happily
OB (3,1) 1 Phillips Summerview Minnie Mouse Black and tan in good coat. Pretty feminine head with the darkest of well shaped eyes giving a lovely typical expression. Good front assembly although a little stuffy in neck, with tidy elbows and good proportion of height to length. Balanced rear quarters with strength and true movement. 2 Bullingham Lokmadi Me And Mrs Jones At Stoweytop Cream with a good head, eyes and ears. A little untidy in the elbow, shorter in back than 1 and tended to roach. Balanced front and rear angles and moved soundly. VB (2) 1 Findlay Eldmour Chitchat At Hanburydax Reserve Best Bitch - Another cream with a good typical head and expression, dark eyes, ears of good shape and size and carried well. Well balanced front and rear with good forechest and tidy elbows, good ground clearance and moved soundly 2 Weston & Johnson Ecotyne Firewitch. Lovely oldie with a good head and eyes. Correct ears and good coat. Rather narrow in front moving although rear was correct.

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge and to the exhibitors for such a lovely entry. I thoroughly enjoyed my day at these two very well run and relaxed shows. Thank you must also go to my two stewards who did an excellent job keeping everyone on track!

Without exception temperaments were excellent and most dogs seemed to cope reasonably well with the extremely hot weather.

Minor Puppy Dog (0)

Puppy Dog (1)

  1. Steele’s The Emperor BPD.

10mth old c/t puppy at only his third show. Excellent temperament. Conical head with good length of neck running into well placed shoulders. Moved reasonably well but just needs a bit of time to body up which would improve his underline and produce a more balanced picture.

Junior Dog (1)

1.     Hunt’s Carpaccio Red Knight. BD & BOB

A well balanced and very elegant red dog. Prominent forechest, good depth of keel and excellent lay of shoulder. Well ribbed back with a strong loin leading into well angulated hind quarters. Moved with confidence and drive keeping a correct topline. Delighted to see him go RBIS in Show 2.

Post Graduate Dog (0)

Limit Dog (1)

1.     Starkey’s Carpaccio Magnum Pi at Hamoura. A b/t dog with good depth of keel with correct lay of shoulder and well sprung rib cage leading back to well angulated hind quarters. Would have perhaps liked more length of neck to complete the picture. He moved well keeping a good topline.

Open Dog (1)

1.   Jones, Moes & Williams’ Cwmdarhian Gordon Ramsey. RBD

An upstanding red dog with a masculine conical head. Excellent oval front and well placed shoulders. Well ribbed back with excellent rear angulation. Held his topline well as he moved around the ring. Pressed hard for BD. Just preferred the overall outline and shape of the winner of the Junior class.

Veteran Dog (1)

1.     Starkey’s Ch Carpaccio Jasper from Hamoura ShCM VW. At 12 years old he is a credit to his owner. Of correct proportions he has good forequarters and is well ribbed back. He moved superbly around the ring keeping his topline at all times.

Minor Puppy Bitch (1)

  1. Mills-Jones, Williams and Moes’ Cwndarhian Welsh Secret. BPB & BPIB

A lovely feminine 7 month old red puppy. Good conical head and excellent length of neck flowing into her well placed shoulders. Excellent depth of keel. She just needs to strengthen in her topline as she matures. She moved around the ring with happy confidence.

MPD (3,1) 1 Hunt Brogansian Crimson Tide. Best Dog, Best Opposite Sex, Best Puppy. Dark red baby, good eye shape but head needs more foreface for balance. Good ears held correctly. Very good forechest with width and depth to ribcage and tidy elbows, well proportioned body to height and strong rear quarters, good tail carriage and moved true. 2 Proctor Chocobrandy Snap. Black and tan with a lovely head but not the forechest or proportions of 1. Longer in back and tended to move somewhat erratically behind. PD (1) 1 Proctor Chocobrandy Snap Jd (3,1) 1 Bullingham Stoweytop Treacle Reserve Best Dog – Black and tan with a good head and expression. Nice ears held correctly, lengthy neck and balanced front and rear angulation, with elbows held close to a well developed chest. Shorter in back but good proportions. Moved well. 2 Proctor Chocobrandy Snap Jb (2,1) 1 Roberts & Smith Rozamie Magic Moments, Reserve Best Bitch Dark red youngster with a lovely head and good expression. Dark eyes, good length of neck, excellent forechest with good width and depth to ribcage. Good length of back and topline held on the move. In good body condition and well presented. Good proportions and balanced angulation. Moved very well.
Pgb (4,3) 1 Roberts & Smith Rayol Barcelona Black and tan with a very pretty head and dark eyes. Good length of neck and good forechest with depth. Well proportioned and balanced, good tail carriage. Moved true. Ob (3) 1 Kent Lokmadi Jingle Belle, Best Bitch, Best of Breed The hardest class of the day. Red, stood proud and true. Lovely head although I would prefer darker eyes. Strong neck into well laid shoulders and correct return. Good forechest and correct depth and width to ribcage. Well proportioned length to height ratio, good tail carriage. Strong rear quarters which she used to stride round the ring with purpose. 2 Roberts & Smith Sonorra Ginger Snap For Rayol Another red and very close up to 1, could have easily changed places. Good head and dark eyes, good forechest with depth. Balanced front and rear angulation, good proportions, moved well but I just preferred the topline of winner both stacked and on the move. 3 Hunt Mylforbe Red Velvet At Sunara Vb (2) 1 Bullingham Stoweytop Sea Of Stars Two mature ladies who could easily have changed places, a close decision. Red, pretty head and eyes, good expression, correct ears, good neck and balanced front and rear angulation. Good forechest, tidy feet, moved true. 2 Bullingham Bowetts Aventurine At Stoweytop Another red with a good head, eyes and ears. Well developed forechest and good ribcage, slightly longer in back and preferred the underline of winner. Well balanced front and rear assemblies. Moved well.
