Best in Show

Mease’s Barambak Quill, a very smart Wire Haired dog  who really showed off his best attributes. He has a beautiful head with nice dark eye and high set ear. Good harsh coat. Arched neck leading to a well laid shoulder and ribs extended well back. Strong topline, good bend of stifle and low hock. Carried his tail nicely and powered round the ring to win the top award.

Reserve Best in Show

Paskins’ Kindeace Texas Ranger, this is a very nice red Long Haired dog with a lovely soft silky coat. Classic head with dark points and kind expression. Good prosternum and length of rib. Good bone , neat tidy feet. He has a firm topline held on the move with correct tail carraige.

Best Puppy in Show

Wood’s Wildstar Washington, a superb red Mini Long Haired dog puppy from this kennel that just keeps turning out the most delightful examples of the breed. He has a typical masculine head with dark eyes and nicely set ears. Excellent oval front, pro sternum and well ribbed. Lovely silky soft coat. Strong quarters , good bend of stifle and short in hock, showed the way by moving soundly with drive and enthusiasm.

Mountford’s  Incordemeo  Flashy Fox, a rather nice red Wire Haired bitch with lots to like about her. Attractive feminine head with nice dark points, good strong jaw, lovely arched neck with well laid shoulder. Prominent pro sternum and well ribbed. Good angles front and back, nice low hock and neat feet.

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge, the warm welcome extended to Dulcie and I and the delicious homemade food on the day. As it was their 75th Anniversary show, there was also beautiful celebration cakes to mark the occasion. There were 47 standard dachshunds present, 1 Junior Handler and 1 present in AV Miniature Open Stakes. All of the dogs entered were in excellent condition and of sound temperament. I would like to particularly single out my steward for thanks, who was exceptional on the day. There were quite a few absentees, but the weather was simply atrocious. I would like to thank every competitor for their entries and for allowing me the privilege of judging your beautiful dogs.
