I would like to thank the club secretary Mr. P. Rollinson, fellow officers and committee members of The Wirehaired Dachshund Club for the invite to judge both varieties and B.I.S. at your open show .and to my steward Halcyon for keeping the ring running smoothly I felt it was a great honour and thoroughly enjoyed my day. There was a great atmosphere throughout the day and the hospitality was superb. Thank you to the exhibitors for an excellent entry and the opportunity to asses their lovely hounds and for accepting my decisions, as I saw them on the day, some very close calls had to be made.. All exhibits appeared to be in good body condition, had correct scissor bites, and temperaments on the whole being excellent.

VD/B What a lovely class to start the show, some super "golden oldies" thoroughly enjoying themselves and a pleasure to judge. 1 Dances` Emem All Het Up. What a lovely, happy 9yr old brindle bitch. She has a lovely make and shape and is full of breed type. She has a correct conical shaped head that is balanced, dark almond shaped eye and a strong jaw. She has a good reach of neck, a prominent pro sternum which has good width and fill and a good length of keel. Her shoulders are well layed back, ribs are well sprung and are carried back to a strong loin, and broad well developed rear quarters and lovely hammy thighs. She has good bone and neat feet which she used to move around the ring with enthusiasm, elbows neatly tucked in displaying plenty of reach and drive and was true moving out and back. She is a lovely honest bitch, not over done in any way and a real credit to her owner.. Pleased to award her B.V and B.V.I.S. 2 Evans, Emem Hot Gossip. 9yr old brindle bitch, made in the same mould as class winner, so many of the above comments apply to her, again super temperament, looking as if she was really enjoing herself, but I had to declare a winner and on the day I preferred the longer, more elegant reach of neck and front construction of class winner. Two lovely bitches. PD 1 Haywards, Foxearth Filharmonic. 9mth dark brindle, loved his overall look. He has a masculine and correct (but not course) houndy head, a dark almond shaped eye and strong jaw. He has a lovely reach of neck that flows into a prominent fore chest that has good width through and a good length of keel. His shoulders are well layed back, ribs are well sprung and carried back to a broad well developed rear quarters and lovely hammy thighs. He has a good wire coat, good bone and feet and moved with plenty of reach and drive in profile and was true out and back. He is a lovely baby with everything in the right place for the future and creates a well balanced picture when stacked and on the move. Pleased to award him BPIB and then BPIS. 2 Crossmans, Energy Elegance Franklin. 7mth dark brindle baby at his first show, and when looking at him initially his profile creates quite a nice, balanced picture, but when viewed from the front or rear he appears to be quite narrow all through. Would prefer a more even balance between skull and muzzle (less length to muzzle) and a stronger under jaw. He has a good reach of neck, prominent pro sternum, but needs to broaden and fill in fore chest. His shoulders are well layed back, but would prefer more spring to his ribbing His rear quarters are well angulated, he has a super wire jacket and moved steadily around the ring. On the day I felt he had many positive attributes, but was a very raw and immature baby who needs, and has plenty of time to mature and strengthen. JD 1 Haywards, Foxearth Filharmonic. PGD 1 Smiths, Bingo Bongo Gregory. Mature brindle, of a much taller, finer type. Little apprehensive on the table but, held his nerve to enable me to go over him. He has a correct conical shaped head piece, almond eye, and a reasonable length of neck. His front and hind construction, and angles, were o.k, but movement was a little erratic in profile and out and back. His coat was o.k in texture but, presentation of it would have benefited from some attention. OD 1 Haywards, CH Foxearth Fiddler On The Roof. Mature red who has a lovely houndy, masculine shaped head of correct shape and proportions, dark almond shaped eye and strong under jaw.He has a lovely reach of neck creating a lovely flow through to his fore quarters, prominent well filled in oval fore chest, plenty of width through brisket and good length to keel. His shoulders are well layed back, ribs are well sprung and carried well back, with his underline inclining gradually into his abdomen. His rump is broad and well developed, with muscular, hammy thighs. He has good bone and neat well padded feet which he used to move effortlessly with reach and drive around the ring maintaining his top line, with true and parallel movement out and back. He has a super harsh wire jacket that was presented in tip top condition, A lovely example, with everything fitting together to create a lovely balanced picture and had no hesitation in awarding him B.D, B.O.B and R.B.I.S. 2 Jones, Bimini Starstruck. Another lovely example, who I understand has recently gained his title. It was lovely to have the opportunity to go over both these hounds, and virtually, the same comments apply here, as to the class winner, however I had to make a decision, and, on the day preferred the more elegant reach of neck and flow through to shoulder of class winner, and his more enthusiastic movement. PB 1 Haywards, Foxearth Fabracadabra. Red 9mth, standing alone, but what a lovely baby she is. She has a lovely balanced profile, with everything in proportion. She has a feminine, houndy head and expression, dark almond shaped eye and strong jaw. She has a good reach of neck, a prominent oval fore chest and a good length of keel. Her shoulders are well layed back and ribs are well sprung and carried back to a short loin. Her rear quarters are broad and well developed for her age with hammy hocks and a well turned stifle. She was a little unsure moving around the ring today, taking notice of everything going on around her, but kept going forward to get the job done. She has good bone and neat feet, and a super bright red wire jacket. A really lovely, well constructed baby, everything in the right place to enable her to mature and strengthen, which hopefully she will do with time. JB 1 Daykins, Barratini Chatters. 14mth brindle full of confidence, and lovely to see her thoroughly enjoying herself. She has a correct conical shaped head, a dark almond eye and strong jaw. Her front and rear quarters are well constructed, she has a prominent, well developed fore chest, shoulders are well layed back with super well sprung ribbing, strong short loin and a broad, well developed rump and hammy thighs. She has a good wire jacket and stands on good bone and feet, which she used to move with ease around the ring, displaying plenty of reach and drive, elbows neatly tucked in, maintaining her top line. 2 Haywards, Foxearth Fattabulous. 9mth, dark brindle who was taller and more rangier than class winner. She has a correct conical shaped head and dark almond eye. Her front and rear quarters are well constructed and angulated. She has a good reach of neck, a lovely prominent pro sternum, shoulders are well layed back with a good spring and length of ribbing and a well developed rear. She has good bone, a wire coat and moved out steadily. She is the litter sister of puppy class winner, and like her sister just needs time to mature and strengthen. PGB 1 Prices, Samlane Cressida. A dark brindle bitch with a correct, conical shaped head, dark eye and strong jaw. She has a good reach of neck, prominent oval fore chest that is well filled in with good width through brisket and a good length of keel. Her ribs are well sprung and carried well back to a strong short loin and a super broad and well developed rear quarters, a good bend of stifle and lovely deep hammy thighs. These she used to move easily around the ring, maintaining her top line and was true and parallel out and back, which earned her the class. 2 Salisburys` Barratini Hot Chick At Brocklewood. Brindle bitch, similar in type to 1, just slightly smaller cast. Her head is feminine, but still houndy, with a dark almond shaped eye, and strong jaw. .Her front construction is o.k with ribs being well sprung, carried well back to a short loin and another bitch with a broad well developed rump. She moved with plenty of confidence and drive in profile and was more correct and accurate especially in hind action moving out and back. 3 Morris`, Pennywave Uptown Girl. LB 1 Flowers, Bingo Bongos Feliciano. 2yr old brindle with a correct conical shaped head and a dark almond shaped eye, her front quarters are well constructed, prominent pro sternum, shoulders well layed back, with ribbing that has good length and is well sprung. Her fore chest is prominent and well developed, ribbing is well sprung and carried back to a short loin with a broad and well developed rump. She has good bone and well padded feet, a wire jacket and moved with great enthusiasm and drive maintaining her top line and was correct out and back. 3 Morris`, Stargang Quintina At Pennywave.OB 1 Flowers, Bingo Bongo Short And Sweet. 19mth dark brindle, and what a lovely quality bitch she is. She has a lovely feminine head and expression that has a correct conical shape and proportions, strong jaw and a dark almond shaped eye. She has a super reach of neck which creates an elegant outline and flows into an oval, well constructed fore chest, prominent pro sternum that is well filled, good width through brisket and a lovely long keel. .Her shoulders are well layed back, ribs are well sprung and carried back to a strong loin. Her hind quarters are broad, well constructed and angulated with a good sweep of stifle and lovely hammy thighs. She moves with a free and easy stride, elbows in, keeping her top line and displaying lovely balance, reach and drive and is true and parallel moving out and back. Wire Haired

V 1 Vines, Cishelvine Sea Swell. 10 1/2yr old brindle who was definitely not acting his age, but thoroughly enjoying himself. He is so well balanced and constructed and my hands just flowed over him. He had the most gorgeous of conical shaped heads and expressions a dark almond eye and a strong jaw. He had a lovely arched reach of neck that flowed into an oval well filled fore chest and prominent pro sternum with good width through and a lovely long keel. His shoulders were well layed back to super well sprung ribbing that was carried right back to a short loin and broad, well developed hind quarters. He had lovely bone and feet, his coat was correct in texture, if a little out of condition in parts, for which I forgave him and he moved around the ring on a free and easy stride, keeping his top line and was true and parallel out and back. A lovely boy, with everything fitting together to create a lovely balanced, unexaggerated profile. B.V. He has a good wire jacket and stands on plenty of bone and well padded feet. He moved well around the ring, elbows neatly in maintaining his top line and was true out and back. He is a lovely raw baby who has everything in place, just needs time to strengthen and mature. JD 1 Vines, Cishelvine Caught Out. Smaller, more compact type than 1, just gone a year old and another lovely example from this kennel. He had a good wire jacket and was a lovely happy boy, who was not over done in any way creating a lovely elegant, balanced picture. He was thoroughly enjoying himself, perhaps a little too mush on times! but he is a young dog, only just out of puppy classes and forgave him this, as I would rather see a young dog happy and enjoying themselves, and I had no hesitation in awarding him B.D, and B.O.S. 2 Moore and Downes, Megline Aramis. She has good bone and feet and was extremely enthusiastic on the move, the saying "who's leading who" springs to mind, however she is still only a puppy and her enthusiasm can be positively channelled as she matures and learns her job. Her handler informed me that it was her first wire and after a few words of encouragement, and a couple more goes around the ring, she started to settle enabeling me to see enough of her movement and, to like what I saw She has a correct wire jacket that needed some attention She is a lovely, happy baby who is well made and maturing in the right direction.
