I was very honoured to be asked, for my first appointment, to judge at the Breed Championship Show. I would like to thank the committee for this opportunity and for there help and support on the day. I would particularly like to thank my steward who worked tirelessly and efficiently, always seeming to be one step ahead of me.

As for the dogs, overall quality was variable with the major concerns being the frequency of poor layback of shoulder and shortness of upper arms, shortness of keel and the ability to maintain outline on the move. Quality of exhibits was generally better in the girls but there are high quality individuals to be found in both sexes.

There were only a few dogs over 5kg, but they were well over, this was judged as a fault proportionate to its degree. There is also an issue with mouths in the breed with several level bites. I also found several examples of inverted canines that were running up into the soft palate or not clearing the upper gum, for me, this is detrimental to the health of the dog and breed and was treated as a major fault.

Coats were generally well prepared and of good to excellent quality. Back and forth movement was generally very good.

Temperaments on the whole, were very good with lots of wags and kisses for the judge. However there were a couple who were very timid on the table and fidgety on the move, and a couple who showed their displeasure of being examined on the table, which was taken into account proportionally in my decisions.VDB (3) 1st: JONES Ch Bimini Starstruck JW - Quality dog with super head, eye and expression. Strong neck running into well laced back shoulder and upper arm. Oval thorax with enough forechest. Well boned legs and tight correct feet. Tight elbows over well sprung rib and short strong loin. Plenty of body condition and well under the eleven pounds. Moved true back and forth and held his outline at all times. Moved with vigour and drive a pleasure to go over and so pleased to find him. - BV, DCC and BOS.2nd: RUSSELL Ch Russteck the Bruce - Super bone and substance. Pleasing in outline. Masculine head and expression, good length of neck and well ribbed body, not quite the lay back and return of 1st. Prepared and shown in good condition.SBDB (7,2)
1st: SIEMINSKI Dajean Surely a Vision - Elegant red with attractive head and kind expression. Good reach of neck, balanced angulation.  Moved parallel back and forth Needs to firm on the move.2nd: ROSE Barratini Song and Dance with Rosencrantz-very similar bitch, but just edged in lay back and return and length of keel.MPD(1) 1st: MULLEN Rozelle Fool's Gold- Pleasing red, well balanced head & expression, good depth of forechest, neat front  good depth of  ribcage & level topline held on the move, well bent stifles, holding outline on the move. BP.  PD (2) 1st: KENT Barratini Du Beke at Lokmadi - Compact harsh coated dark red.  Well boned with good substance. Attractive head with dark correctly shaped eye. Well placed shoulders, good body shape and spring of rib. Needs to firm  in profile on the move.  Good temperament and strode out with confidence.
2nd: CORNER Carcorn Raphael's Racer - Good red finer in type. Pleasant head with correctly shaped eye. Elegant neck running into well ribbed chest good body proportions but needs to deepen and to grow in confidence in the ring.Junior Dog (2) 1st: COROMINAS Almarxils Diego for Ruichango - Stand out in the class. Super temperament. Attractive head with keen expression and correctly shaped dark eye.  Well laid shoulders and plenty of forechest.  Good spring of rib and overall body shape. Well angulated hindquarters. Moved with an effortless,  stride covering the ground with ease and held his shape in on the move2nd: MARSTON-TEAL Lordscairnie Dubious Love - A very dark, wild boar of correct size. Having a well balanced head with correct almond eye and soft expression. Enough fore chest for age. But I would prefer more bone.

Neck and shoulder are clean and his top line was good on the stack but just needs to strengthen on the move.

Novice Dog (1)
1st: KENT Barratini Du Beke at Lokmadi- see puppy dog.

Post Graduate Dog (4,1)
1st: HOWELLS Fallowmill Time Traveler - A really nice well balanced dog. Good head and expression. Nice reach of neck into well laid shoulders. Long ribbing and prominent breast bone, good length of body and depth of keel, standing on good feet, super quarters with strong hocks, sound on the move, very promising. Excellent coat and presented and handled beautifully.
2nd: PHILLIPS Gulliagh Loganberry Of Robinswood (Ikc) - Well proportionedCompact type with harsh coat, firm level topline held in stance and on the move. Good overall body shape and well angulated hindquarters.  Moved true in front, but needs to firm behind. Just preferred the front and overall balance of 1st.

Limit Dog (3,1)
1st: GILKES & STORTON Dereheath Shaken Not Stired At Birichino - Dark harsh coated dogLovely head with a strong muzzle, correct shaped eyes and keen expression. Feet tight and round. Good size with a well covered body. Prominent forechest with oval thorax. Ribbed well back, but a touch long in loin. He kept a level top line both on the stack and on the move. Moving with freedom and enthusiasm.
2nd: COVENEY Emem Django - Compact well balanced dog with smaller head and good expression. Neck runs into well formed chest with excellent depth and spring of rib. Kept a level top line on the stack and on the move. Moved with enthusiasm but needs to firm behind.

Open Dog (1)
1st: BARCELLA Queenlord Le Roi Soleil - A dog of more elegant type excellent with very good proportions. Correct head and eye. Held on an Elegant neck running into a chest with good forechest depth and length of keel but would form a more fuller picture with more spring of rib. Kept top line at all times and moved correctly in profile and back and forth, with super reach and drive.

Champion Dog (5,2)

A challenging class to judge with three contenders all worthy of their accolades, only separated by some of them not quite in the peak of condition.
1st: DANCE Ch Emem Solar Power JW - Beautifully balanced dog with correct harsh textured coat. Supper bone and substance throughout. Attractive head with correct dentition and bite, carried on good reach of neck.  Lovely deep body shape with good spring of rib. His balanced angulation allows him to maintain his outline both on the stack and on the move which he did with effort and enthusiasm.  RDCC.
2nd: ROSE & BLACKBURN Ch Stargang Pot of Gold at Ridanflight - A larger and more elegant dog with harsh red coat. Good head with dark almond shaped eye, correct dentition and bite. Held on a long elegant neck running into a well ribbed chest level back with short strong loin. Moved true back and forth, holding outline both on the stack and on the move. Just lost out to 1st on size.

Minor Puppy Bitch (2)
1st: KILROY Rozelle Rosalie at Janacop - a coat of good texture. Lovely personality which shone through. Pretty head with correct mouth. Front was neat and feet were good. Lovely size carrying plenty of body. Well ribbed, short loin. Moved correctly and with enthusiasm keeping topline at all times. Lovely hammy quarters and correct tail set.
2nd: MILLS-JONES Carlita Jellie Baby - Taller more elegant type, neat throughout. Correct dentition She kept her top line both moving and at the stack. Moves with enthusiasm but still needs to firm behind.

Puppy Bitch (9)
1st: MULLEN Rozelle Old Flame -  Lovely head & expression, good bone and depth of forechest for her age, neat front flowing into neat ribcage & level topline, well bent stifles, she moved true to and fro with enthusias2nd: BARCELLA Queenlord Unexpected Sienna - Elegant well proportioned of correct size. Very attractive head carried on an elegant running into good shaped with good length of keel. Needed more spring of rib and depth to complete the picture for me. Not altogether happy on the table, but settled on the move. Lovely type and correct height to length ratio. Moved well when moving away, but shes a baby and so will have plenty of time to learn her craft and gain confidence.

Junior Bitch (6)
1st: DANCE Emem Hazel Sunshine - Well proportioned and balancedCompact with harsh coat, firm level topline, held in stance and profile movement.  Good overall body shape and well angulated hindquarters.  Moved true in front and coming back, but needs to firm behindIn profile moved with reach and drive.
2nd: MCDERMOTT Bardot's Brigitte (Imp Swe) - Slightly more elegant bitch with good height to length ratio. Feminine balanced head with lovely eye. Preferred front assembly of 1. Well developed forechest and length of keel.  Rock solid topline.  Shown in good condition and well presented. Just needs to grow in confidence on the table.

Yearling Bitch (5)
1st: BARCELLA Queenlord Daylight Revolution - Hard coated Black and Tan bitch with thick black undercoat. Correct size and balance. Feminine head with lovely expression. Good bone for elegant type. So lovely to go over on the table everything fitting together smoothly and correctly. Superb front assembly with clean shoulders and adequate length and return of upper arm with elbows neatly tucked into the ribcage, plenty of forechest, good length of rib and keel. Short loin, level topline and correct tailset, well angulated rear quarters with short rear pasterns. Plenty of ground clearance and I liked her height to length ratio. On the move she moved with perfect footfall being absolutely true coming and going and showing outstanding reach and drive. BCC & BOB, RBS.

2nd: THORN ANDREWS Drakesleat Hear No Evil - Another beautifully put together bitch of correct size and type Compact with good bone . Again  lovely to go over on the table everything fitting together smoothly and correctly. Superb front assembly with clean well laid back shoulders and length and return of upper arm, plenty of forechest, good length of rib, short loin, level topline and correct tailset, well angulated rear quarters with short rear pasterns. Such a shame that she was so phased by being on the table and distracted on the move. If she had held it together she would of contended for top honours as I’m sure she will in the future.

Novice Bitch (5)
1st: DANCE Emem Hope For Sunshine - Very attractive compact red. Correct head and expression and correct dark eye.  Well laid shoulders and plenty of forechest.  Good spring of rib and overall body shape.  Well angulated hindquarters complete the picture.  Parallel up and back movement and held  shape in profile.  Super temperament.
2nd: KIRKWOOD Helydon Vexy Vixen
- Very similar in type and shape. Not quite the drive of 1st with top line just running up. On another day could easily swap places.

Post Graduate Bitch (5,1)
1st: KIRKWOOD-EMERY Helydon Tartan Talula - Very eye catching dark hard coated bitch, of correct size. Having a well balanced head with correct almond eye and soft expression, head carried on elegant neck flowing into clean shoulder and correct full volumed chest. Topline was good on the stack but just raised ever so slightly on the move bringing the croup under and foreshortening slightly the rear drive.  Moved freely with enthusiasm.

2nd:DANCE Emem Hope For Sunshine - see Novice bitch.

Limit Bitch (4,1)
1st: MARSTON-TEAL Lordscairnie Endless Love - This wild boar is of lovely type and balance. Good head, perfect mouth, neat feet, strong neck, well laid shoulders and ribbed well back with plenty of depth and spring. She excelled however on the move. When her balanced construction stretched her out showing all her assets to the full.
2nd: MULLEN Rozelle Are You Ready - More elegant type with good coat.  Attractive feminine head carried on a elegant neck.  Well placed shoulder and good hind angulation to balance.  Held outline in the stance and on the move.
Open Bitch (4,2)

1st: KIRKWOOD-EMERY Helydon Nifty Nairn JW - Well balanced bitch with lots of substance. Excellent coat, beautifully prepared. Feminine well proportioned head of correct shape correct bite and dentition. Carried on strong neck into well sprung chest of good volume with short loin. Moved true to and fro stepping out with enthusiasm.
2nd: MULLEN Rozelle Kamiras Year - Elegant light wildboar with a good coat. Pleasing head and eye. Long neck and shoulders carried on well sprung rib with adequate forechest. Held top line well in both stance and profile movement.  Parallel up and back action.

Champion Bitch (4)

Similar  to the other champion class but with four contenders worthy of their accolades competing for the honours and all only separated by fine details. I’m sure on another day the places could easily change. It all came down to minor details, presentation & condition on the day.

1st: JONES Ch Bimini Chasing Moonbeams - Beautifully balanced bitch of correct size, and like the CC winners so lovely to go over on the table everything fitting together smoothly and correctly. Feminine head with correct dentition and bite. Strong neck running into clean shoulders and adequate length and return of upper arm with elbows neatly tucked into the ribcage, plenty of forechest. Level topline, short loin and well angulated rear quarters with short rear pasterns. Plenty of ground clearance with perfect height to length ratio. She was brimming with confidence today and this was shown on the move, stepping out with enthusiasm showing her lovely reach and drive to its full potential whilst keeping a perfect shape and topline. RBCC
2nd: THORN ANDREWS Ch Drakesleat Too Gud to be True - Another beautifully constructed exhibit who excels in front construction having well placed shoulders and good length of upper arm and correct forechest.  Well sprung ribs and good overall body shape which she holds on the stack and on the moveMoves freely in profile and up and down. Not quite the harshness of coat or overall condition of 1st today.
