It is 12 years since I last judged Miniature Wires and I was delighted to have the opportunity to do so again.  There were plenty of high quality exhibits to choose from and some hotly contested classes, particularly in the puppies.  I was especially impressed with the correct, parallel up and back action displayed by most of the entry.  Parallel hind action going away,  is something we don’t uniformly see in my breed, Standard Wires.  Mouths were good and only a few of the exhibits were oversize.  Coat quality was variable, but I was delighted to find several with really harsh, dense coats with the correct harsh leg hair.  Overall quality of conformation was good, although some could have better laid shoulders and longer upper arms.  Most held their outlines well in profile movement.  Unfortunately there were a handful of nervous ones, but equally there were some lovely confident and exuberant ones who were able to make the most of their time in the ring as a result.

Veteran Dog (2, 1 abs)

1st       Jones’ Ch. Bimini Starstruck

Not surprised to see from my catalogue that this dog is a Champion.  Quality wildboar with an eye-catching outline.  Strong, masculine head, carried on a good reach of neck.  Well laid shoulders, good forechest and strong level topline which he held in stance and profile movement.  Good hind angulation.  He moved parallel up and back and freely in profile.  Father of my Best of Breed.  Reserve Dog CC and Best Veteran in Breed.

Minor Puppy Dog (2)

1st       Kent’s Barratini Du Beke At Lokmadi

Fantastic harsh, dense coat on this compact, rich dark red.  Correct harsh leg hair.  Well boned with good substance throughout.  Attractive head with dark correctly shaped eye.  Well placed shoulders, good body shape and spring of rib.  At the moment he is having a bit of a growth spurt and is standing slightly higher behind which is affecting his topline in profile on the move.  Good temperament and strode out with confidence.

2nd      Ward-Blower’s Dajean Surely Keifer At Willowmist

Chocolate and tan of a different type, being longer and rangier in body.  He too, has a harsh coat, but it could do with a bit of a tidy up.  Not the front and shoulders of 1st and needs more ring training to make the best of his time in the ring.

Puppy Dog (3)

1st       Corominas’ Almarxils Diego For Ruichango

Stunning red who commands attention on the move.  Caught my eye on the initial circuit of the ring where he just flowed round with an effortless, lengthy stride covering the ground with ease.  Completely balanced in fore and hind angulation.  Attractive head with keen expression and correctly shaped dark eye.  Well laid shoulders and plenty of forechest.  Good spring of rib and overall body shape.  Well angulated hindquarters complete the picture.  Parallel up and back movement and held his shape in profile action.  Super temperament.  I loved him.  Dog CC, Best Puppy in Breed and ultimately Best Puppy In Show.

2nd      Marston-Teal’s Lordscairnie Dubious Love

Compact, dark wildboar with good coat.  A little apprehensive on the table.  Moderately angulated at both ends.  Moved freely in profile.

3rd       Ward-Blower’s Dajean Surely Keifer At Willowmist

Junior Dog (1)

1st       Moss & Silvester’s Griffingate I Have A Dream

Wildboar completely in his undercoat.  Attractive, masculine head with strong muzzle and good eye shape.  Shoulders slightly forward placed on his body, which detracts from his outline in profile on the move.  Held a good topline, but is a shade cut up in underline.  Oversize.

Yearling Dog – no entries

Post Graduate Dog (2)

1st       Phillips’ Gulliagh Loganberry of Robinswood

Unexaggerated, well constructed wildboar.  Compact with harsh coat, firm level topline held in stance and profile movement.  Reasonable shoulders.  Good overall body shape and well angulated hindquarters.  Moved true in front coming towards, but slightly untidy hind movement going away.  Free mover viewed in profile.

2nd      Ward-Blower’s Whitewebbs Jonny Be Good At Willowmist

Softer-coated light red who was roaching his topline in profile on the move.  Reasonable front construction, but was unsound behind going away, flicking his left hind leg outwards.  Needs more confidence.

Limit Dog (5, 1 abs)

A very close decision between 1st and 2nd and these 2 could easily change places on another occasion.

1st       Sexton & Dasilva’s Molloney Woody Or Won’t He At Ertekes

Wildboar with good bone and substance throughout.  Attractive masculine head with pleasing expression.  Well placed shoulders with good forechest.  Firm topline held in stance and on the move.  Well angulated hindquarters in stance.  Moved with correct parallel action up and back and this was the deciding factor which put him ahead of 2nd who was slightly closer in front movement.

2nd      Gilkes & Storton’s Dereheath Shaken Not Stirred At Birchino

Darker wildboar with good coat.  Another with an appealing head with a strong muzzle, correct shaped eyes and keen expression.  Slightly longer bodied than 1st.  Held his outline well in stance and profile movement.  Two lovely dogs.

3rd       Coveney’s Emem Django

Open Dog (4, 1 abs)

1st       Dance’s Ch. Emem Solar Power

Quality wildboar with correct harsh textured coat extending all the way down to his feet.  He has good bone and substance throughout and an eye-catching outline.  Masculine head carried proudly on good reach of neck.  Lovely body shape with good spring of rib.  Has balanced angulation in fore and hindquarters.  Moved out freely, covering the ground with ease and held his shape in profile movement.  Parallel action up and back.

2nd      Black’s Bothlyn Back In Black Bassodon

Another quality dog of different type to 1st.  Elegant dark wildboar with good coat.  Well laid shoulders and good forechest.  Longer bodied than 1st.  Has well angulated hindquarters and moves soundly up and back.  Not quite holding his topline as well as 1st in profile movement and carrying his tail a shade high.

3rd       Ward-Blower’s Whitewebbs Jonny Be Good At Willowmist

Veteran Bitch (2)

1st       Crow’s Compania Pandora

Appealing older lady of 10 years.  In lovely condition and still stepping out well around the ring.  Has an attractive feminine head and expression.  Balanced angulation in front and behind and holds her firm, level topline in stance and profile movement.  Kept her outline on the move.  Coat just slightly soft now in her senior years. Super, steady temperament.

2nd      Kirkwood-Emery’s Helydon Jinglebells

Elegant dark wildboar with better coat than 1st.  Not holding her topline as well as 1st in profile movement however.  Well presented and handled.

Minor Puppy Bitch (5, 1 abs)

1st       Mills-Jones’ Carlita Jellie Baby

This darker wildboar pup caught my eye immediately at the start of the class, on the first circuit of the ring and didn’t disappoint on the table examination.  Elegant outline with a firm, level topline which she held in stance and profile movement.  Attractive feminine head carried proudly on a reachy neck, flowing into well laid shoulders.  Good overall compact body shape and has well angulated hindquarters which she used to advantage on the move where she covered the ground fluidly with a long, effortless stride.  Exuberant temperament displayed on the move.  An exciting prospect.  Still very young, but so self-assured.  I loved her.

2nd      Sieminski’s Dajean Surely A Vision

Feminine red with attractive head and keen expression.  Good reach of neck, well placed shoulders and good hind angulation.  Moving parallel up and back, but losing her topline a shade in profile movement at the moment in comparison to 1st.

3rd       Rose’s Barratini Song And Dance With Rosencrantz

Puppy Bitch (7)

A very close decision between the first two in this class.  Two lovely bitches showing great promise for the future.

1st       Dance’s Emem Hope For Sunshine

Wildboar with excellent harsh textured coat like all the exhibits from this kennel.  Compact and well bodied with good bone and substance although retaining femininity.  Well balanced with correctly angulated fore and hindquarters.  Carries herself with confidence on the move and covers the ground with style and enthusiasm.  Sound up and back and holds her outline well in profile.

2nd      Crossman & Kennedy’s Moonshe May Bee

Black and tan with compact, well balanced outline.  Attractive head, firm, level topline held in both stance and profile movement.  Well constructed throughout with no exaggeration and balanced angulation in fore and hindquarters.  Parallel action up and back and holding her shape moving round the ring.  These two girls could easily change places on another occasion.  Just preferred the harsher textured coat of 1st.

3rd       Marston-Teal’s Lordscairnie Love To Dazzle

Junior Bitch (6, 3 abs)

1st       Rowberry’s Griffingate Elizabeth

Slightly oversize red with good harsh coat.  Compact outline.  Had the best shoulders and forechest in this class which is what put her ahead of the others.  Moderate hind angulation.  Moved true up and back and held her shape reasonably well in profile.

2nd      Flowers & Smith’s Bingobongo’s Alpinista

Wildboar.  Similar in overall outline to 1st.  Harsh coat.  Not quite the shoulder placement of 1st, but held her outline well in profile movement and strode out freely in profile.

 3rd   Walker’s Stargang Fantasy

Yearling Bitch (2, 1 abs)

1st       Brown’s Payched Eglantine Rosebud

Very nervous wildboar who was reluctant to be handled on the table.  Has a good, harsh coat and feminine head.  Roaches her topline in profile movement.  Difficult to assess due to her temperament.

Post Graduate Bitch (7, 2 abs)

1st       Dance’s Emem Hazel Sunshine

Just shy of 12 months old.  Harsh-coated wildboar with super bone and substance throughout.  Stands absolutely true in front on correct, tight feet.  Well balanced with correctly angulated fore and hindquarters and carries herself with confidence, holding a firm and level topline in profile.  Sound up and back.  Covers the ground with an effortless, free stride.  Litter sister to 1st in Puppy Bitch.  Must have been a super litter as they are like peas in a pod!  Best Bitch Puppy.

2nd      Mullen’s Rozelle With Love

I see she is a half-sister to 1st, having the same sire who is obviously proving his worth as a stud dog.  Light wildboar.  Slightly lighter-boned than 1st.  Compact overall outline.  Good head, neck and firm topline.  Well angulated hindquarters.  Held her shape well in profile movement and was true up and back.

3rd       Crow’s Martinks Drives You Dotty

Limit Bitch (11,3 abs)

1st       Mullen’s Rozelle Kamiras Year

Elegant light wildboar with a good coat.  Attractive feminine head carried on a reachy neck.  Well placed shoulder and good hind angulation to balance.  Firm topline held well in both stance and profile movement.  Parallel up and back action.  A good, honest bitch free from any exaggeration.  Held her outline the best on the move in this rather difficult to judge class, which earned her 1st place.

2nd      Marston-Teal’s Lordscairnie Endless Love

More compact, elegant light wildboar.  Feminine head and expression, good reach of neck which flows into well-laid shoulders.  Holds a firm, level topline standing and moving in profile.  Just slightly steep in underline, which was what split 1st from 2nd.  Moved freely in profile and with parallel action up and back.

3rd       Flowers’ Muliviess Fleur Delacour

Open Bitch (5)

A hotly-contested class full of quality exhibits who could easily change places on another occasion.  It was a joy to judge these lovely girls!  Thanks for bringing them.

1st       Jones’ Ch. Bimini Chasing Moonbeams

I discovered after judging that I had previously awarded this beautiful wildboar BPIS at this show in 2020 and was delighted to have the opportunity to judge her again as a fully mature adult who has fulfilled the promise she showed as a youngster.  Eye-catching and well balanced outline which she holds in stance and profile movement.  Feminine head carried proudly on a good reach of neck which flows into well-laid shoulders.  Correct forechest, good overall body shape with firm, level topline and flowing underline.  Well angulated hindquarters complete the picture.  She moves freely in profile, covering the ground without effort and is parallel in fore and hind action coming and going.  Harsh textured coat.  Bitch CC and Best of Breed.

2nd      Thorn-Andrews’ Ch. Drakesleat Too Gud To Be True

Another beautifully constructed exhibit who excels in forehand construction having well placed shoulders and good length of upper arm and correct forechest.  Well sprung ribs and good overall body shape.  Correctly angulated hindquarters.  Moves freely in profile, holding her shape and is sound up and back.  Would prefer a harsher coat, however.  Reserve Bitch  CC.

3rd       Dance’s Ch. Emem Letty Bee Sunshine
