A great new venue with a good size ring, glorious weather and stewards who were v helpful to me and the dogs. I was v pleased with my ticket winners and higher placings. There was more depth of quality amongst the bitches, but there were some v good dogs. Some did feel the extreme heat so placings could well be different on a cooler day. I was especially delighted with my b line-up, quality all through. Movement and coat were the deciding factor on the day. Many good bicthes left the ring cardless.

MPD (6). 1 Brooks Dark Night Black Magic at Lyndarlea. B/Tan with a lot of maturing to do. Everything there in a small package. Good head and ribbing and moved well keeping his top line; 2 Phillip’s Rossdach U’L Never Walk Alone. Thought this B/Tan would be my winner but let himself down on the move with a soft top line and unsteady movement. Longer cast than 1 but lovely outline standing. Good head and neck, correct front and shoulders, sound body and angulation. Shows promise; 3 Poole’s Findowrie Society Guy.

PD (5). 1 Lockett’s Ralines Red Dragon. Quality red with balanced body, elegant outline standing and on the move. Well placed shoulders, good angulation fore and aft. Moved soundly, well presented and handled; 2 bell’s Robbie Red Breast. Sound p but v immature, needs to body up. A little soft in top line and movement a shade close. Placed him over an elegant cream with a lot to offer but was reluctant to move today. Didn’t like the ground -probably be better indoors; 3 brook’s Lyndarlea CrËme De Menth.

JD (3). 1 Brook’s Lydarlea Bounty Boy. Well marked choc/dapple with masculine head, correct eye, good ribbing and top line. Well angulated especially at the rear and this showed in his steady movement. Sound both ways; 2 Brown’s Devoncream Raffles. Another well balanced d of good proportions, just preferred Bounty Boy’s length of ribbing and movement.

GD (1). 1 Cooper’s Jumada’s Hot Chocolate. Stood alone but well deserved his placing. Higher on the leg than the previous dogs but has overall good shape and balance. Standing looked great but although moved soundly tended to run up a little behind.

PGD (6). Close decision between the first three b/tans, they had the best movement in the class. Both Midnight Star and Northern Lad were well constructed and presented and really drove round the ring. I preferred Northern Lad’s masculine head but my winner couldn’t be denied his placing or his good front assembly, hind angulation and feet. 1 Graver’s Melvalley Midnight Star; 2 Cooper’s Gayville’s Northern Lad at Jumanda; 3 Hall’s gayville’s Northern Defender.

LD (3). Strong class. Some good dogs went cardless, they were beginning to feel the heat and this had an influence on the lower placings. 1 Angear’s Ridgegrove Cuddley Dudley. Quality b/tan with well shaped head, good forechest and reach of neck and correct shoulder placement. Well bodied and good overall balance. Good angulation and low hocks enabled him to really drive round the right keeping his lovely outline. Great ring presence. So well presented and handled. A credit to his breeder CC; 2 Young’s Willowheath Del Boy. Higher on the leg than Cuddley Dudley/but everything in proportion. Well bodied b/tan with masculine head, good forechest, shoulder placement and ribbing. Again another d with good hindquarters which enabled him to drive round the ring keeping his top line and good outline. He showed his socks off in the challenge. RCC; 3 Phillip’s Rossglen Reach For The Sky.

OD (7). Good class. 1 Amos’ Dacatec Dream Wizard. Well boned b/tan with good head and eye, nice length of neck, correct shoulders, prominent forechest with good length of upper arm and well angulated. Moved positively and with drive. Liked him a lot but let himself down in the challenge, had had enough. His time will come; 2 Lockett’s Ralines Dumbledore. Shaded cream of sound construction. Lovely head but just a little refined for a male in my opinion. Good neck and shoulders and lovely outline standing and moving. Again so well presented and handled. Close decision between Dumbledore and Wizard (both sired by the same d). Wizard also a lovely cream but down on his pasterns and not so positive in movement; 3 Watkin’s Bidornis Pinball Wizard.

MPB (7). There were two youngsters who were not too happy to be handled on the table as yet and therefore had to pay the price in placings. Their time will come. Little to choose between my first two. Both had good heads and well balanced bodies, movement a little erratic. Chantilly won her 1st place on a little more elegance and better top line on the move, but unfortunately wouldn’t walk in the next class. It was now v hot for them. 1 Brace’s Xemxija Chantilly; 2 Elworthy’s Jamiespring Desert Susnet; 3 Brown’s Devoncream High Society.

PB (5). 1 Phillip’s Rossdach Stairway To Heaven. Attractive p with good reach of neck and length of ribbing. Everything in the correct place just waiting to develop. V good lines in profile. Hasn’t quite got her movement together as yet; 2 Vine’s Chiselvine Just Maybe. Similar remarks apply to this smaller b/tan. Just preferred my winner’s length of ribbing and outline; 3 Brace’s Xemxija Chantilly.

JB (12). A good class. Just one exhibit with an “iffy” mouth. Loved my first three exhibits, close decision between them all. My first two were well balanced, feminine b/tans with good heads, forechests, necks and length of ribbing with correct lay of shoulder and good angulation front and back. Both had well cared for feet. Similar remarks apply to Glitterbug who was a smaller red of quality. It was movement that eventully divided the placings. 1 Thomas’ Shenaligh Sea Holly; 2 Angear’s Ridgegrove Camilla; 3 Turner’s Rafthouse Glitterbug.

GB (2). Quality not quantity in this class. 1 Boyle’s Zarcrest Black Magic. Didn’t know this b/tan was still a p until the end of judging. V mature young lady with plenty of bone and substance without being coarse. Impressive standing and moving. Lovely, sound outline with everything in the right place and so well handled and presented. Thought her head looked broad from a distance but on inspection just more tan than usual. An illusion. Moved soundly and well. Showed her socks off in the challenge where the older dogs were flagging. RCC and BP; 2 Burgin’s Melvalley Maid Of The Knight. Unlucky to meet the winner who was in such good form. Again an elegant b/tan of quality. Similar remarks apply. Moved steadily and with drive if a little close in front.

PGB (11). Some good bicthes went cardless. 1 Graham’s Jadag Fornton’s Continental. Liked this b/tan a lot. In the class, movement was v good and effortless keeping a lovely outline and firm top line but seemed to give up in the challenge. Good head and neck, deep body and well boned. Correct angulation and lay back of shoulders. Quality exhibit; 2 Richardson’s Sirrondach Ebony Tamarind. Another b that excelled when moving. A smaller cast b/tan than my winner and slightly higher on the leg but still a well balanced exhibit overall. Similar remarks apply. Liked her type but I liked her sire -he has made his mark; 3 Scott’s Zodophie Over The Moon to Wolferlow.

LB (9). Good class. 1 Goddard’s Minard Krystal Darque. Elegant b/tan that oozes quality, built on flowing lines with gleaming coat and great presentation. Nothing overdone, and she held her super outline when driving round the ring. Good top line and underline. Showed herself to the end in this sweltering heat. Good head and reach of neck, correct front and shoulder placement, tight elbows and good length of ribbing. Well angulated and muscled. First class. I liked her a lot. CC and BOB; 2 Norton’s Halunke Miss Elanor. Quality red b of good type and proportions. Liked her head and eye and elegant head carriage, and overall soundness. Preferred my winner’s rear angulation and movement; 3 McLean’s Maxwin Lady Madonna.

OB (14). Strong class, close decisions all through. Splitting hairs. Some really good exhibits went cardless. 1 Butler’s Drymoor Secret Delight. A real feminine and glamorous lady (the Marilyn Monroe of the min-longs today). A beautifully presented gleaming shaded cream coat covered a well proportioned body. Lovely head and eye and good head carriage. Moved smoothly, soundly and with elegance. Close contender for the ticket but just preferred Krystall’s overall bone and substance and top line. Nevertheless one to be proud of. Her time will come. She demands attention. When judging three yrs ago I also liked her dam; 2 Wallace’s Cheslan Reethi Rah. Another quality lady of more workmanlike proportions. Well constructed b/tan with good bone, lovely outline standing and moving and moved with drive. Everything in the right place. Just placed her over the smaller red Sweet Symphony as I preferred Reethi Rah’s length. V close decision; 3 Thomas’ Shenaligh Sweet Symphony.
