I was delighted to judge at the show. I was in full agreement with my co-judge over the Bitch for BOB and BP awards and was so pleased to see the BOB go BIS. I found the quality of the dogs very mixed. On the plus side heads were good almost without exception, with lovely expressions and almond shaped eyes. Temperaments were excellent. On the down side I was sorry to find so many with narrow fronts, short keels, short upper arms, loose elbows and excessively splayed feet especially in the lower classes. Profuse coats in some dogs tended to obscure their outline and some exhibits were very thin.

DACHSHUND M/L/H (DOGS): MP (8). 1 Hayes' Dolyharp Duet with Dialhouse. Shaded cream. V ell constructed, good shoulders and angulation, level top line, nice head and neck, true front and moved freely BPD; 2 Phillip's Rossdach Blackberry Way. A nice type b/t, hd angulation and shoulders, not quite the top line of 1; 3 Harrison's Lacerking Jimmy Mac.

P (7). 1 Phillip's Rossdale U'l Never Walk Alone. Well made and free moving, rather rangy at present but should mature nicely; 2 Brook's Dark Night Black Magic at Lyndarlead. A different type being much more compact than 1, but well constructed and a sound mover, one of the few I could get more than two fingers between the front legs; 3 Palin's Sanniks Costa Pakit.

J (3). 1 Palius Diquest Sea Breaz around Sanmick. Shaded cream , nicely made and moving well with level top line, lovely head and expression.

PG (5). 1 Illidges' Paradcahs Dream Come True. Eye catching shaded red in super condition with shining flat coat, lovely outline, moves truly and freely, beautiful head and expression RCC; 2 Earley's Elva Prince Charming. B/t, more compact than 1 but well made and moved truly and freely, not quite the elegance of 1; 3 Braces' Ralines Sunny Delight with Xemxija.

L (9). 1 Turner's Ralines Dumbledore. Elegant shaded cream, lovely outline, angulation and tight elbows. Beautiful head and expression and moved freely. I considered his for the RCC but he decided not to co-operate and threw away his chances; 2 Phillip's Roasglach Rebel Yell with Rossdach; 3 Welton's Chelane King Of The Castle.

O (6). This was my best class of the day for quality right down the line. All dogs to be proud of and none disgraced by their placing here. 1 Angear's Ch Ridgegrove Cudley Dudley. V well constructed b/t of ideal proportions, masculine head, excellent angulation and good length of upper arm, level top line, had the tightest of elbows which combined with his true free movement won him his place and the CC; 2 Robert's Ch Denver Jack Frost. A v attractive cream, good construction and lovely quality, not quite the driving movement of 1, but a worthy champion; 3 Young's Willowheath Del Boy.

V (3). Three veterans in lovely condition, - all deserving a first place. I wish I had brought some sausages with me. 1 Butler's Harrimond Bonnie Delight of Drymoor. A b/t in gleaming coat, v well made and moved freely; 2 Butler's Harrimond Dark Secret. Sister of 1, in similar good condition but not quite such a free mover; 3 Duchesne's Scandell Talking Pages.
