DACHSHUND - MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED

JD (3) 1 Hunt's Carpaccio Captain Scarlet. The last few times I have judged this breed, I could not help but notice how short upper arms seemed to be. Because of this my eye was immediately drawn to the fact that this was not the case here. On looking at my notes I see I have commented on this several times. This red had a very pleasing head, well proportioned with nice almond eye. Ears well set on and mobile. Strong jaw. Good length of neck into these well placed shoulders and length to upper arm making 90 degree angle. Well ribbed with good keel and depth. Strength to loin. Topline level. Nice rear quarters with good angulation again. Moved well with drive. 2 Williams' Cwmdarhian Can't Touch This. This was a b/t, also with a good masculine head and dark almond eye. Well balanced with sufficient reach of neck. Lost out to winner on his slightly shorter upper arm. Good topline and strong in loin. Well angulated rear quarters. Moved well and freely with drive. 3 Carey's Indizak Hot Or Not.

PGD (2) 1 Williams & Jones' Cwmdarhian Billy The Kid. Won on movement as he had the better upper arm. However they were two quality reds from same kennel and had that stamp of quality. Pleasing head and ear set with good jaw. Good reach of neck, well ribbed with keel. Good loin with strength giving the level topline. Very good rear quarters. Moved well with plenty of drive. Res Best Dog. 2 Worton's Cwmdarhian Little Monty. Did not make the best of himself today, the wind was really making him hunch and tighten up. Good head with correct eye and good ear set. Length to neck. Upper arm could have been slightly longer. Well ribbed. Strength in bone. Hind quarters well angulated. Moved with drive.

OD (2) 1 Williams' Cwmdarhian Benjamin Button. Yet another striking dog from this kennel. Liked the front assembly on this one particularly. Good head with dark almond eye, well set ears and strong jaw. Length to neck with arch. Good keel and depth to rib. Length and strength to loin. My notes have extra ticks on hind quarters, making him well angulated front and rear. Excellent mover, free flowing with plenty of drive from rear. Best Dog & BOB. 2 Kent's Barratini Jeeves At Lokmadi JW. Another dog that excelled in hind quarters, but on the day out to the better front of winner. He was slightly narrower and also shorter in upper arm to him. However, still a quality dog with lovely head and reach of neck. Good topline and strength to loin. Moved with drive.

PB (5,1) 1 Payton's Marajo Saphira's Fire. There is doubt that it was the bitches who were most affected by the wind. This attractive choc/tan youngster managed to keep her hindquarters stretched out to make the most of herself. This 8 month had a lovely head with almond eye, the roman nose and well set ear. Good length to neck with arch. Well ribbed and level topline. Well angulated and well set on tail that was not flagging in the breeze (several miniatures had a high set and were too proud of them on move) Sufficient bone throughout. Moved well with drive. Res Best Bitch & Best Puppy. 2 Bretherton's Shantallah Rowena. Attractive red. Pretty head with reach of neck. Still a bit slack and needs to tighten up in front. Well angulated front and rear. Level topline. Another one who did not think much of the wind, and did not stand for her owner properly. Moved well. 3 Halsall's Shelsall Breezing Back.

JB (5) 1 Hunt's Cwmdarhian Carry On Cleo At Carpaccio. B/t of 14 mths with attractive head and good ear set. Nice dark almond eye. Strong jaw and good bone. Liked forechest and depth and length of rib. Well angulated fore and aft. Held topline on move and had plenty of drive from rear. 2 Williams' Cwmdarhian What A Carry On. Lost out to winner on length of foreface, as it was slightly shorter. Good head otherwise with essentials correct. Reach to neck and good forechest. Well angulated and had sufficient bone. Moved with drive and kept topline. 3 Kent's Lokmadi Steffy Byng. PGB (3,1) 1 Kent's Lokmadi Steffy Byng. Liked the head proportions of this bitch with its roman nose. Good eye and ear set. Keel in evidence and front very good. Good hind quarters and kept topline on move. Another one who did not enjoy wind much, and was very unsettled. Moved erratically.good as winner. 2 McAulay's Elnside Truffles For One. Head proportions not as good as winner. Well angulated from and rear. Good keel and depth to rib. Another bitch affected by wind, that could have shown better.

OB (2,1) 1 Kerry's Kireton Agnes. Lovely bitch with no exaggerations. Felt a couple were a bit on the long side. Loved the femine head that had strength and quality. Used ears well. Reach to neck and shoulders well laid. Nice upper arm, tight elbows and straight front. Good keel and depth of chest. Topline level, strong loin and well angulated rear. Moved freely with drive. Best Bitch.
