MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED

I know that many of the breeders and exhibitors have been working very hard to improve the eye status in the breed and that has certainly to be applauded.  However, I do have concerns regarding movement in the breed which does seem to have deteriorated since I last judged them.  The movement on some exhibits can only be described as erratic with some very inferior angulation at both ends and some very strange toplines. It is important I feel to consider the whole dog both when breeding and when judging.  Having said that there are still some very good exhibits and I was very pleased with my winners in general.

VD (1) 1. Melbourne’s Ch. Melriding Post Hac Meliora. Quality B/T dog. Good head and eye, well laid shoulders, strong topline which he held well at all times. Scored today over many younger males with his excellent hindquarters. Good ribbing carried well through. Moved really well with drive, soundness and that extra bit of personality thrown in. CC.

PD (8,2) 1. Phillip’s Jentiki Red Chilli Pepper. Red dog with good shape and outline. Good length and strong topline that he maintained on the move. Nice head and expression, well angulated front and rear. Moved soundly although with a little more maturity and confidence should be able to make even more of himself. 2. William’s and Jones Cwmdarhian Billy The Kid. Well balanced red dog of a taller type than winner. Balanced angulation front and rear. Pleasing head and eye. Moved sound and true but today did not seem as settled in topline on the move. 3. Coxon’s D’arisca Low And Behold

JD (7,1) 1. Salisbury’s Willowheath Just William At Brocklewood. Stylish red dog with good clean outline. Strong topline which he held well both standing and on the move.  Very sound on the move, moving  so positive and steady for a young dog. 2. Phillips Jentiki Red Chilli Pepper 3. Hurn’s Tydurcwrt Morgan At Llanfabon

LD (9,1) 1. Blackburn’s Sonderbar Ben At Stargang (Imp). Elegant red dog with good proportions and outline.  Lovely head, long neck, strong topline and good front construction. Moved well with drive and that touch of style. 2. Shelton’s Barisse High Endeavour. Shaded red dog of pleasing profile. Good angulation front and rear. Moved well holding his topline at all times. Just didn’t have the elegance of the winner today. 3. Kent’s Barratini Jeeves At Lokandi JW.

OD (4,1) 1. Callow’s Ch. Garthorne Top Gear JW. Well balanced B/T dog. A worthy champion. Good head and eye.  Well constructed front and rear. Well developed forechest, good ribbing and strong topline. Moved well both coming and going and in profile but today couldn’t match the veteran in rear movement. Res.C.C 2. Yeoman’s Klynerbyner Vim And Vigour.  Taller  type of dog with a lovely head and expression. Good shape when standing but today was rather unsettled on the move. 3. Mortlock’ Siouxline Magnus At Hertsmerry

VB (1) 1. Callow’s Garthorne Lady In Black. Quality B/T who is not  showing her age. Nice head and eye. Good front and quarters. Good ribbing carried well back and a strong topline. Moved sound and true.

PB (11,4) 1. Callow’s Garthorne Miss Dynamite. Very nice B/T puppy. Lovely overall shape and balance. Well proportioned throughout. Good head and eye, well angulated front and rear, prominent forechest, good ribbing and strong topline. Certainly, won this class on movement today. Best Puppy 2. Orton’s Scalemor Polyanthus. Very pretty, feminine red baby of nice proportions. Well balanced throughout. Needs to settle at the rear yet and just couldn’t match the winner on the move today. 3. Coxon’s D’arisca Truely Madly Deeply

JB (14,7) 1. Ergis’s Siouxline April Folly JW. Elegant red bitch of a taller type with a lovely head and eye.Well constructed and balanced throughout. Covered the ground well on the move, moving out with drive and style. 2. Kent’s Toniajavae Indian Passion At Lokmadi.  Very nice type of B/T bitch. Good shape and outline. Good front and well rounded quarters. Strong topline which she kept well. Rather unsettled on the move today. 3. Orton’s Scalemor Belle Heather

PGB (12) 1. Blackburn’s Sonderbar Billie Jean At Stargang (Imp). Lovely red bitch who caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring.  Lovely head and eye, long neck, well angulated both front and rear. Strong prominent forechest, strong topline. Good ribbing and bone. Moved really well covering the ground with ease. As I wrote in my notes ‘just my cup of tea!’. CC and BOB 2. Muggleton’s Mosiarto Beautiful Belle. Quality red bitch with many attributes. Good head and eye. Well constructed front and rear with prominent forechest, well laid shoulders and strong rounded quarters. Moved soundly and positively.  Not just as strong in topline as winner today. 3. Shuker’s Yewlitt Amelia

LB (6,1) 1. Melbourne and Holdsworth’s Barratini Hubble Bubble At Melriding JW. B/T bitch of lovely type. Good feminine head and outlook. Deep prominent forechest and well laid shoulders. Strong topline, good ribbing and well angulated quarters. Moved easily with drive. 2. Blackburn-Bennett’s Stargang Lotus Elite.Well balanced brindle bitch of good shape and construction.Well angulated front and rear. Strong topline which she held well both standing and moving. Moved positively covering the ground well. 3. Muggleton’s Mosiarto Forget Me Not

OB (12,2) 1. Hunt’s Ch.Carpaccio Royal Parade JW. Very balanced B/T bitch of real quality. Lovely shape and outline. Feminine head and well constructed front and rear. Good strong topline which she held well. Excelled on the move, moving with real drive and presence. Res.CC 2. Callow’s Garthorne Gazania JW. Red bitch with good head and eye, good neck and well laid shoulders. Good ribbing, prominent forechest and strong topline. Nice well rounded quarters. Moved very true and sound but would like to see her relax a little and open up a little more on the move. 3. Blackburn-Bennett’s Shardagang Illusion

GCB (1) 1. Garrity’s Holly Berry. Tall bitch with nice head. Rather excitable on the move which meant she was losing her shape and outline today.
