MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED

A good quality entry here, in the main as with many breeds the strength lay in the bitches. With only 1 exception temperaments were exemplary, & on that note, & to join the ‘hot topic’ of the moment, I personally feel that these bold & courageous little hounds, with their perfect dentition & strength in front assemblies most certainly have something to offer their wire cousins. The indoor ring with excessively long grass would have been inappropriate to judge this breed so I was glad to see that in the main the exhibits coped well with the weather conditions.

PD (8) 1 Baldwin’s Beckel Grand Cru, stylish b/t, excellent outline, typical head & eye with correct expression, well constructed, moving well holding topline, shows great promise; 2 Kempton-Thorne’s Lord At The Dance with Knockboy, close up here, a nicely balanced youngster with excellent movement, good ribbing & excellent outline; 3 Bourne’s Yaapeet Uriel. JD (8) 1 Herrington’s Kathington Coeur De Lion, b/t, excellent outline, elegant with good head & expression, very sound maintaining excellent outline & carriage; 2 Salisbury’s Barratini Aston Martin, quality exhibit, good bone & feet, good ribbing, rounded & well muscled throughout; 3 Smith’s Caligari Storm Prince. PGD (3) 1 Reeve’s Zarosa Red Rum, attractive shaded/r, nice head with excellent front assembly, super outline. A touch too much angulation in the rear, which resulted in a lack of drive on the move; 2 Hollands’ Zarosa Motivation, smaller type b/t, lovely type with a good neck & shoulder but a touch short in upper arm. Sound on the move but would prefer more reach. LD (5,3) 1 Yeomans’ Klynerbyner Vim And Vigor, super choc/t. gorgeous head, excellent front assembly with prominent forechest, well ribbed using himself well on the move when his outline was maintained; 2 Orton’s Scalamor Solomons Seal, cobby smaller type b/t, attractive head & expression. Lost out to 1 on topline. OD (5) 1 Melbourne’s Melriding Post Hac Meliora, what a cracking little dog, not glamorous just very correct throughout, superb front assembly, excellent ribbing & underline, very typical head & expression, well rounded & muscular rear, sound with excellent carriage, a real sporting little hound. This CC made him a very worthy ch; 2 Ergis’ Ch Siouxline Indigo, smart b/t with so much style & deportment, shown in sparkling condition RCC; 3 Moes’ Aus Ch/NZ Ch Deercroft Discoverer with Carpaccio.

PB (16) Fabulous class with so many quality babies going cardless. The Dachshund club should write to this society & demand a MP class. It was a shame to have raw babies competing with older more mature exhibits. 1 Ergis’ Siouxline Cinderella, what a little star, a fabulous puppy with so much style & charisma, she is so well rounded with a glossy coat & supple skin, fab head & expression, beautiful well ribbed body, & with wonderful ground clearing movement. I really fell in love with her & therefore couldn’t deny her the RCC; 2 Baldwin’s Beckel Bubbles, real raw baby but a real delight, superb type, great carriage, super bone & feet, has great potential; 3 Twyman’s Stargang Porsche. JB (10,1) 1 Melbourne & Holdsworth’s Barratini Hubble Bubble at Melriding, top quality youngster, correct in head, eye & well set ears, strong neck, excellent shoulders, maintaining her super outline on the move; 2 Seath’s Sunsong Sea Mist, close up to 1, another top quality exhibit, gorgeous head & expression, well bodied with good front & rear assemblies, super supple skin & coat, sound & stylish; 3 Bursey’s Hartlake Sweet Damson. PGB (7,2) 1 Punter’s Abbagirls Hi Berry for Welcumen, feminine red, out of the top drawer, really lovely head & expression, correct outline & a superior front assembly, elegant outline, sound with merry action; 2 Muggleton’s Mosiarto Forget Me Not, lovely bitch just paying the penalty as she was one of the few not coping with the conditions & loosing her shape on the stack. Did sufficient however on the move to show off a typical outline & excellent sound movement; 3 Blackham’s Deersleep Angel Delight. LB (5,2) 1 Barber’s Pattons Little Eva by Rivergate, shaded pale red, a real quality exhibit throughout, very typical in head & expression, strong topline maintained on the move, strong well muscled quarters, sound & strong movement; 2 Punter’s Jentiki Kendle for Welcumen, super headed red with a great front, long upper arm & splendid forechest, excellent topline & tailset. Lovely bitch throwing her chances on the move when she was a little unsettled; 3 Lashbrook’s Little Miss Molly of Milfer. OB (7,2) 1 Hunt’s Carpaccio Royal Parade, what a marvellous Dachshund, a perfect scaled down miniature of a Standard, she displays such quality throughout & other than the fact that she is young & will get even better with age, there is indeed very little I would change about her. So much charisma on the move & with a fabulous attitude so evident. Can occasionally bring her tail up a fraction over the level of her topline, a minor detail when faced with magnificence of this quality. An outstanding CC & BOB; 2 Barber’s Ch Simply Red Ruby of Rivergate, a real quality ch, presented in such marvellous condition, so unlucky to meet the youngster in such cracking form; 3 Lashbrook’s Merrygarth Home Run at Highbend.
