MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED

I was delighted to accept the appointment at this level. I first judged Dachshunds in 1973, so those of you with doubts about the Group Judges Development Scheme it definitely is not a fast track for most of us. Quality in general was good. I felt vindicated for weighing as those with a larger frame and close to the mark all carried condition and none were scraggy or undernourished. Heads differed somewhat with a minority losing expression due to larger than ideal eyes. Although movement varied there were no cripples, all being fit for function. There were quality dogs but on the day bitches were by far the stronger sex. Thank you for a decent entry and for the sporting atmosphere.

PD
(5,1a) 1 Reeds Deercroft Double Dare, B&T, well developed and robust with conical head and well placed eye, keel developing, well ribbed with level back and defined quarters, moved well, BP. 2 Coxons D’Arisca Due Diligence, red with a beautiful head, neck and forehand, pleasing topline and carriage, preferred coupling of 1. 3rd Bishtons Bronia Carlino of Jaydania.

JD (4) 1 Sheltons Barisse High Endeavour, red, sturdy lad in hard form and muscular, proportioned head but marginally heavy, enough reach, depth to brisket and level back, developed quarters, moved well. 2 Burtons Swingletrees Ready Teddy Go, loved this lad, portrays super lines and is totally sound, marginally tucked up today and not quite the condition of 1. 3 Rentons Portalutra Making Ice at Dukidachs.

PGD
(5,2) 1 Gunnings Jenkerbell Merlot, red with pleasing lines and well balanced, proportioned head with well placed dark oval eye, depth to chest, enough bone, good feet, pleasing topline and underline, muscular quarters and movement to suit. 2 Williams Cwmdarhian Mr Magoo, sturdy and well proportioned with good muscle tone and sound action, clean head, reasonable eye, just preferred smooth lines of 1. 3 Mortlocks Siouxline Magnus at Hertsmerry.

LD
(8,1) Rather mixed class. 1 Ergis Siouxline Maverick, beautifully balanced with an impressive head and lovely attentive well shaped eye, chest developed and depth just right, firm well placed shoulder, enough bone, good feet, topline to suit, strength to defined quarters and a purposeful mover displaying correct carriage, RCC. 2 MacDonalds Bensarka The Midas Touch, not quite so balanced standing but came into his own on the move, appealing head and expression, reach to neck on clean front assembly, reasonable topline, moved steady. 3 Reeves Zarosa Red Rum.

OD
(6,2) 1 Ergis Ch Siouxline Indigo, quality lad, sturdy and compact in body without coarseness, pleasing head with strength to underjaw, dark mischievous eye and ears set high, reach to neck with firm shoulders, good legs, feet, well ribbed and back with firm well developed hindquarters, typical clean action, excellent coat and condition, CC. 2 Melbournes Melriding Jerome, red, nicely balanced and sturdy with decent head, dark eyes, ears just high enough, length to neck, well ribbed body and shape to quarters, moved well. 3 Punters Ch Welcumen Mr Cool.

PB (7,2) 1 Coxons D’Arisca Dark and Delicious, B&T, balanced and lovely to go over, not totally sure of herself as yet but shows off her virtues to perfection on the move. 2 Ergis Siouxline Cinderella, quality lady, development spot on for age, conical head, obliquely set dark eye, reach to neck, sound limbs, ribs well sprung with topline and quarters to suit, moved and showed well. 3 Moulds Cwdarhians Kiss Me Quick.

JB
(11,2) 1 Braces Xemxija Rose Gold, very raw yet but so balanced with the correct attitude and movement to enhance, carries a quality head with attributes just right, pleasing forehand assembly, enough depth with clean topline, useful quarters and conditioned coat. 2 Melbourne & Holdsworths Can Ch Grandgables Ms Chatanooga To Melriding, feminine lady, well balanced and very close up, length to head with correct break, firm shapely body and clean construction, moved well displaying good deportment, in lovely condition. 3 Daykins Barratini Jilly Cooper.

PGB
(12,4) 1 Mackenzies Stargang Sea Breeze at Tysar, red, convincing winner in this class, robust and sturdy without being over the top, conical head, marginally bold, well pigmented dark eye, forelegs set just right, well ribbed with clean topline and defined muscular quarters, impressive mover. 2 Salisburys Barratini Analisa, B&T, clean head, good outline and shown in excellent form, can stand a little narrow behind but is sound on the move, shown in good condition. 3 Punters Abbagirls Hi Bury for Wecumen.

LB
(10,2) 1 Dunns Bronia Golly Miss Molly at Ashridge, B&T winning a high quality class, this lady projects a beautiful clean outline and carries an impressive head, best of fronts, defined breastbone and good depth to keel with legs perfectly placed, firm well ribbed body, level back and nicely moulded rear producing super sound action. 2 Blackburn-Bennetts Stargang Elite, brindle of similar stamp and also in super hard condition, classic lines from nose to rear, quality head, well shaped lively eye, moulded quarters and movement to suit. 3 Melbourne & Holdsworths Barratini Hubble Bubble at Melriding.

OB
(6) 1 Coxons Ch D’Arisca Golden Delicious, very feminine red with length to well shaped head, dark oblique eye, reach to neck with firm shoulders and sound limbs, well ribbed and back with muscular body and strong hindquarters, moved superbly with an air of importance, CC & BOB. 2 Hunts Ch Carpaccio Royal Parade, B&T, similar in make to winner, loved her expressive head, well developed front assembly, shape to ribs with short firm loin and well moulded quarters, moved with style and arrogance, lovely condition, RCC. 3Pritchards Hannamouse Bronte.
