Driffield 2002

Dachshund (Miniature Smooth Haired)

Judge : Gillian Raine

I would like to thank the exhibitors for accepting my placings so sportingly. I would like to make some overall comments first before writing on my individual placings. On the positive side all Dachshunds has excellent temperaments, clean teeth, one or two exceptions were that some dogs would have benifited from some road work to improve their muscle tone. In a few minor cases I was sorry to see that some dogs were underweight and in need of a good meal and probably would have been better staying at home.

MPD. (2). 1. Plant’s, Merehil Newz Encounter. Liked this dog as soon as he entered the ring. Quality 6 months old b/tan of correct size and shape. Good masculine head with correct shaped eye, good length of ribbing. Well filled front, excellent hind angulation. Moved well. Should have a bright future. Hope he does not lengthen any more. BPD and BPIB. Well done. 2. Ergis’s, Siouxline Luke. Shaded red dog again 6 months old. Not as mature as first, taller mould than winner. Masculine head, nice eye. Did not have quite the same front or width but has time on his side to settle.

PD. (1). 1. Shutt’s, Donnadoon Prince’s Passion. Stood alone in this class. B/tan dog of 11 months old. Would prefer a little weight for me. Nice head and eye. Good front and feet. Well placed shoulders. Enough ribbing. Would just prefer a little more angulation. Moved ok.

Excellent reach of neck leading into well placed shoulders, together with a good body, topline and underline and to top it all well muscled hindquarters.
