It was a privilege to be asked to judge Best in Show for the N.C.D.A., a club for which I was first a committee member and then the secretary into the early 2000’s. I was pleased with quality of my line ups overall. Although the weather was not on our side and the wind was in the direction of the ring, but a-ho we coped. Best in Show: Chauhan, Dr. M. Ch. Adnerb Take A Chance On Me At Raajput (B). Superb quality B/T bitch. 3½ years STD Smooth. Correct conical head and oblique eye. Good length of neck leading into well laid shoulders and correct post sternum. Deep brisket, good length of rib, hindquarters with good angulation and short hocks. Moved out with verve. Reserve Best in Show: Carruthers Ch. Aikton Alexander At Stanegate (D) Quality brindle wirehaired dog. Conical head and oblique eye. Good reach of neck, well laid shoulders, prominent forechest. Correct ribbing. Sound hindquarters. Good follow through on the move. A worthy champion. Best Puppy in Show: Paterson’s Cwmdarhian The Mistress (B) A very promising 10½ month B/T STD Smooth bitch. Very feminine head and oblique eye. Good length of ears and reach of neck. Well placed shoulders. Level topline and good underline with well placed ribbing. Well angulated quarters, moved out well. One to watch. Reserve Best Puppy in Show: Mitchell’s Bronia Day Dreamer (B). Another quality 9 month cream miniature longhaired bitch that you would expect from this long established kennel. Very promising. Lovely head and dark eye. Good reach of neck, well laid shoulders. Well covered ribbing. Good quarters and nice short hocks. Super coat for one so young. Moved out well. Pressed hard for top sport her day will come. Best Veteran in Show: Ergis Ch Siouxline Rapunzel With Melriding. (B) Miniature smooth haired red bitch. 9 years (and not a grey hair in sight). A worthy champion from this long established kennel. Good head and eye, well laid shoulders, prominent sternum, good length of ribbing. Well let down quarters, which she used well on the move. Excellent pigment. Still looks like she is enjoying her showing days. Best Special Beginners in Show: Foley’s Beauty Long Std Longhaired bitch. 11 months. Promising baby. Lovely head and eye. Dark pigment. Good reach of neck. Well laid shoulders. Good length of rib. Good follow through on the move. Just needs to tighten and mature.
